for Religious Education classes, or still need to pick
them up, please do so as soon as possible. If you are
aware of a family who might like to register in our
Religious Education Program, please have them call
the Holy family Center at 671.567.6509.
If your child attends public school (grades
1-10), you must register them for classes. Please note
that both the First Holy Communion and Confirmation are two-year programs. If your child attends a
Catholic School (grades 2, 9, or 10), you must also
register them for the Sacraments. Forms are located

From the Deacon’s desk…
A note from Fr. Wayne . . .
The Gospel today reminds us that Jesus Christ is and mist be the corner
stone of our lives. In other words, all
aspects of our lives are built on the
strong foundation of God’s love for us
as expressed by Jesus Christ. A rejection of Christ is
a rejection of God’s love. A life without love is not
for us. We are called to be people of love and witnesses of hope. This can only be possible when we
build on the person of Jesus Christ. Embrace Christ
today and start to build a life filled with love and
hope. Others will indeed know we are followers of
Christ by the way we show love. The third-century
Christian writer Tertullian once wrote: “But it is

Our Grand Annual Collection will be the weekend
of October 25th and 26th. Your support of the parish
and our programs are needed more than ever.
There are several issues that contribute to this sense
of urgency:
1. Each year we are faced with the ever growing
cost of home heating oil. On fuel alone, the
parish had to use reserve funds to pay the last
$1,000.00 on the oil bill which took us all the
way into July to do so.
2. We have our responsibility to East Boston Central Catholic, our parochial school. Our subsidy
remains at $20,000.
3. Each week we are about $1,000.00 off in our
collections. Last fiscal year, we spent the remainder of our parish reserves to pay for the
deficit of the collections. That amount was
$29,076.21.
As you can see by just the three items listed above,
your support of the Grand Annual Collection is vital. Please know that there remain other expenses
such as staff salaries, youth programs, maintenance
to the buildings and grounds, and supplies for the
Masses. Each month a budget is posted on the bulletin boards. You will notice that we have cut spending exponentially each month. Your gift this year is
greatly needed and will help strengthen our Sacred
Heart Parish Family, so that as we grow together, all
of our needs will be met. Your prayers for a successful Grand Annual Collection on the weekend of
October 25th and 26th will be greatly appreciated.

Ora voglio farvi conoscere ciò che sto per fare alla
mia vigna: toglierò la sua siepe e si trasformerà in
pascolo; demolirò il suo muro di cinta e verrà
calpestata. La renderò un deserto, non sarà potata
né vangata e vi cresceranno rovi e pruni; alle nubi
comanderò di non mandarvi la pioggia. Ebbene, la
vigna del Signore degli eserciti è la casa d’Israele; gli
abitanti di Giuda sono la sua piantagione preferita.
Egli si aspettava giustizia ed ecco spargimento di sangue, attendeva rettitudine ed ecco grida di oppressi.
L’Importanza della Santa Messa
A Messa la Chiesa si raduna e si
visibilizza.
Col nostro essere presenti, ricordiamo a tutti (anche a quelli che non vanno a
Messa) che la Chiesa non è solo un fatto interior
ma siamo un corpo solo; che il senso della nostra
vita quaggiù è quello di essere in pellegrinaggio
verso la Vita eterna.

In quel tempo, Gesù disse ai capi dei sacerdoti e agli
anziani del popolo: «Ascoltate un’altra parabola:
c’era un uomo, che possedeva un terreno e vi piantò
una vigna. La circondò con una siepe, vi scavò una
buca per il torchio e costruì una torre. La diede in
affitto a dei contadini e se ne andò lontano.
Quando arrivò il tempo di raccogliere i frutti,
mandò i suoi servi dai contadini a ritirare il raccolto.
Ma i contadini presero i servi e uno lo bastonarono,
un altro lo uccisero, un altro lo lapidarono. Mandò
di nuovo altri servi, più numerosi dei primi, ma li
trattarono allo stesso modo.
PRIMA LETTURA
Dal libro del profeta Isaia
Voglio cantare per il mio diletto il mio cantico
d’amore per la sua vigna. Il mio diletto possedeva
una vigna sopra un fertile colle. Egli l’aveva dissodata
e sgombrata dai sassi e vi aveva piantato viti pregiate;
in mezzo vi aveva costruito una torre e scavato anche
un tino. Egli aspettò che producesse uva; essa produsse, invece, acini acerbi. E ora, abitanti di Gerusalemme e uomini di Giuda, siate voi giudici fra me e
la mia vigna. Che cosa dovevo fare ancora alla mia
vigna che io non abbia fatto? Perché, mentre attendevo che producesse uva, essa ha prodotto acini
acerbi?

Da ultimo mandò loro il proprio figlio dicendo:
“Avranno rispetto per mio figlio!”. Ma i contadini,
visto il figlio, dissero tra loro: “Costui è l’erede. Su,
uccidiamolo e avremo noi la sua eredità!”. Lo presero, lo cacciarono fuori dalla vigna e lo uccisero.
Quando verrà dunque il padrone della vigna, che
cosa farà a quei contadini?». Gli risposero: «Quei
malvagi, li farà morire miseramente e darà in affitto
la vigna ad altri contadini, che gli consegneranno i
frutti a suo tempo». E Gesù disse loro: «Non avete
mai letto nelle Scritture: “La pietra che i costruttori
hanno scartato è diventata la pietra d’angolo; questo
è stato fatto dal Signore ed è una meraviglia ai nostri
occhi”? Perciò io vi dico: a voi sarà tolto il regno di
Dio e sarà dato a un popolo che ne produca i frutti».

Credo in un solo Dio, Padre onnipotente, creatore del

da Dio, Luce da Luce, Dio vero da Dio vero;
generato, non creato; della stessa sostanza del Padre;
per mezzo di lui tutte le cose sono state create. Per noi
uomini e per la nostra salvezza discese dal cielo; e per
opera dello Spirito Santo si é incarnato nel seno della
Vergine Maria e si é fatto uomo. Fu crocifisso per noi
sotto Ponzio Pilato, morì e fu sepolto. Il terzo giorno
é risuscitato, secondo le Scritture; é salito al cielo,
siede alla destra del Padre. E di nuovo verrà, nella
gloria, per giudicare i vivi e i morti, e il suo regno non
avrà fine.
Credo nello Spirito Santo, che é Signore e dà la vita,
e procede dal Padre e dal Figlio e con il Padre e il
Figlio é adorato e glorificato e ha parlato per mezzo
dei profeti.
Credo la Chiesa, una, santa, cattolica e apostolica.
Professo un solo battesimo per il perdono dei
peccati. Aspetto la risurrezione dei morti e la vita del
mondo che verrà.

If you or somebody that you may know, who is an adult, wants to become
Catholic or receive the Sacraments of Holy Communion or Confirmation
please call 617.567.5776 to register for Adult Classes. There will be an information session on Tuesday, October 7th at 6:30 p.m. in the rectory.
Those adults interested are welcome to join and explore more about the
gift of Catholicism.
Please join us every Saturday morning
after the Mass at 8:00 a.m. for Eucharistic Adoration. During Adoration,
we pray the Rosary, have confession,
and spend some time with the Lord. Join us for a few
minutes or for the whole half hour.
