DID YOU KNOW ??
 These final verses of Mark’s
Gospel were a later addition of the
original ending of the women at
the empty tomb. They show that
from the earliest of times, the
disciples realised that, although
Jesus was no longer physically
present, `the Lord was working
with them`.
 The word `apostle` comes from the
Greek for `one who is sent out`.
 Mark uses the dramatic figures of
speech about serpents and
poisons to illustrate that those
who believe in the good news and
preach it can overcome all that
threatens or destroys life.

l’ascensione di Gesù Cristo, celebrata oggi in tutta la chiesa, è un grande mistero di
gloria. Festa intimamente legata alla risurrezione, di cui costituisce il compimento e la
pienezza. Il ritorno di Gesù al cielo però, non significa che egli ci abbia abbandonati. Al
contrario egli non è mai stato così presente in mezzo a noi, come dopo l’ascensione;
egli vive nella sua chiesa, che sostiene, che anima e che guida. È per mezzo di essa
ch’egli continua il suo ministero di salvezza. “Andate!” - ha detto ai suoi discepoli al
momento di congedarsi da loro - “Siate miei testimoni nel mondo intero. Io sarò
con voi sino alla fine dei tempi”.
Essere testimoni di Cristo! Dovere che incombe ad ogni cristiano, e quindi a
ciascuno di noi. Come risponderemo all’invito di Cristo, e in che modo saremo testimoni
e apostoli?

WEDDING/MATRIMONIO
Congratulations to EMANUELA VACCARO and TODD FRASER who
seal their love through the Sacrament of Marriage at St Margaret
Mary’s this weekend. We wish them every blessing and happiness.
THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL The Parish Pastoral Council is a team
comprising a number of parishioners and parish leaders together with the parish priest.
The Council’s role is to offer advice and assistance to the Parish Priest. The primary
role of the PPC is to build and nurture the parish community.
The current PPC members have been active for three years and it’s now time for reelection. We are seeking energetic and committed parishioners to nominate oneself or
others for a place on the PPC. Nomination forms will be made available for interested
parishioners with nominations due by 16/17 June. Elections will be held on 30/6-1/7.
The new Council will begin in Jul - Aug.
IL CONSIGLIO PASTORALE PARROCCHIALE Il Consiglio Pastorale
Parrocchiale comprende un gruppo di parrocchiani e animatori di gruppi parrocchiali
insieme con il parroco. Il ruolo del Consiglio è quello di offrire assistenza, e nutrire la
comunità parrocchiale. I membri dell'attuale CPP hanno servito gia da tre anni ed è il
momento per la rielezione. Stiamo cercando parrocchiani energetici e impegnati che
vogliono nominare se stesti o altri parrochani per un posto sul CPP. Moduli di
candidatura saranno messi a disposizione per i parrocchiani interessati. Questi
dovranno essere consegnati entro il 16/17 giugno. Le elezioni si terranno` il 30/6-1/7.
Il nuovo Consiglio inizierà nel mese di luglio - agosto.

MARY HELP OF CHRISTIANS (MAY 24 )
TH
The Feast of Mary Help of Christians is especially important since it is
the Patronal feast for both Australian Catholics and the Salesian
community. This title for Mary is one of the oldest in the Church. During
the Papal reign of Pope Pius V our Lady saved the Christians people of
Europe. Later, through Mary’s help, Pope Pius VII was freed from his
imprisonment - an imprisonment imposed on him by Napoleon. St John
Bosco had a great love and devotion to Mary under the title of HELP OF
CHRISTIANS and he helped to spread this love throughout the world.
In 1844 the Bishops of Australia declared Mary, as the Help of
Christians - to be the special Patroness of Australia.

Woolworths Earn & Learn Program for our Primary School
Starting this week Woolworths will be handing out one sticker
for every $10 you spend with them. Simply collects these
tickets at the checkout of your Woolworths supermarket and
place it in the blue box at the back of the Church. Thank you.
CHOCOLATE DRIVE
We have launched our yearly Chocolate Drive and ask parishioners to take home a
carton to sell to friends, neighbours, relatives and workmates over the next few
