Sacred Heart Parish Annual Fuel Collection
February 16th and 17th
Join us each Sunday in the Church
Hall after the 10:00 Mass for coffee,
juice, pastry, and some time together.
We look forward to seeing you there.
After an unbelievable Grand Annual Collection in which we raised
approximately $53,000.00, I am
almost embarrassed to remind all
of you that the Annual Fuel Collection will be on us in just one week.
I know that you all have done so
much already. I am only asking you to do what you
can to help us meet the needs of our fuel expenses.
Please know how grateful I already am to each of you
for all you do for our parish family.
To date, our fuel expenses are $12,471.88.
Let us pray for those who have
died during the past week, especially for Virginia Schepici and
Stella Shimone from our parish.
The Sanctuary Lamp will burn in
memory of John and Phyllis Lepore
from Saturday, February 9th through
Friday, February 15th requested by
their daughter, Mary Spadoni.

V Domenica nel Tempo Ordinario
A note from Fr. Wayne . . .
From the Deacon’s Desk . . .
Today’s readings speak
about vocations. We are all
called by God and we all
share in a vocation. I ask
each of you whatever vocation you are called to—be
faithful to that vocation.
God needs each of us to
listen to His voice and to
use our gifts in service to one another. I have received this wonderful call to the priesthood. A day
does not go by in which I do not thank God for such
a calling. I am grateful God has called me and I pray
each day to be an example of faith that will inspire
others.
God's call comes to us as it came to Peter, Paul,
Isaiah, and today's Psalmist - as a personal call to
leave everything and follow Him, to surrender our
weaknesses in order to be filled with His strength.
Simon put out into deep waters even though, as a
professional fisherman, he knew it would be fooish
to expect to catch anything. In humbling himself before the Lord's command, he was exalted - his nets
filled to overflowing; later, as Paul tells us, he will
become the first to see the risen Lord.
God uses whatever we bring to Him. Please, listen to
His call today and respond to it. We are all depending on you as you should depend on us!
What can I do to help?
As Catholic-Christians, Our Lord, Jesus Christ has
asked us to respond to those who need help.
Our first response is always prayer, taking the time to
come to Our Lord seeking His help and guidance.
So, this Lenten Season why not take just 5 minutes a
day to offer a single decade of The Rosary for Life!
Reflect on The First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation. Our Blessed Mother’s “YES” to the life within
Her.
The second is to share our resources. Making a sacrifice of our time, talent and treasures. Therefore,
on the First Sunday of Lent, Baby Bottles will be
available at all Masses. Consider putting your loose
change –sacrifice that cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee,
give up a lunch at Burger King and give that money
to A Woman’s Concern. Your sacrifice will help A
Woman’s Concern buy diapers, formula, and the
other necessities of babies given the gift of life. You
can then return the Baby Bottles on Easter Sunday –
this Lent proclaim the Gospel of Life through prayer
and sacrifice.

V Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 10, 2013
V Domenica nel Tempo Ordinario
From the Pope’s Window . . .
The Liturgy on this Fifth Sunday
of Ordinary Time presents us with
the subject of the divine call. In a
majestic vision Isaiah finds himself
in the presence of the thriceblessed Lord and is overcome by
great awe and a profound feeling of
his unworthiness. But a seraph purifies his lips with a
burning coal and wipes away his sin. Feeling ready to
respond to God's call, he exclaims: "Here I am,
Lord. Command me!" (cf. Is 6:1-2; 3-8). The same
succession of sentiments is presented in the episode
of the miraculous catch of which today's Gospel passage speaks. Asked by Jesus to cast their nets although they had caught nothing during the night,
trusting in his word, Simon Peter and the other disciples obtain a superabundant catch. In the face of this
miracle Simon Peter does not throw his arms around
Jesus to express his joy at the unexpected catch.
Rather, as the Evangelist Luke recounts, he falls to
his knees saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful
man O Lord". Jesus, therefore, reassures him: "Do
not be afraid; henceforth you will be catching
men" (cf. Lk 5:10); and leaving everything, he followed him.
In this Year for Faith, let us pray to the Lord of the
Harvest to send labourers into his harvest. Let us
also pray that all who hear the Lord's invitation to
follow him may be able after due discernment to respond to him generously, not trusting in their own
strength but opening themselves to the action of his
grace. Let us entrust all vocations to the Blessed
Virgin, especially vocations to the religious and
priestly life. May Mary inspire in each one the desire
to pronounce his or her own "yes" to the Lord with
joy and total dedication.

e in mezzo a un popolo dalle labbra impure io abito;
eserciti». Allora uno dei serafini volò verso di me;
E io risposi:
«Eccomi, manda me!».

SALMO RESPONSORIALE
CANTIAMO AL SIGNORE,
L’INGRESSO
Inni e canti sciogliamo, o fedeli,
Al divino Eucaristico Re
Egli, ascoso nei mistici veli,
Cibo all’alma fedele si diè.
invocato, mi hai risposto, hai accresciuto in
me la forza.
GLORIA
Ti renderanno grazie, Signore, tutti i re della
terra, quando ascolteranno le parole della tua
bocca. Canteranno le vie del Signore:
grande è la gloria del Signore!
Gloria a Dio nell'alto dei cieli e pace in terra agli
uomini di buona volontà. Noi ti lodiamo, ti
benediciamo, ti adoriamo, ti glorifichiamo, ti
Amen.
La tua destra mi salva.
Il Signore farà tutto per me.
Signore, il tuo amore è per sempre:
non abbandonare l’opera delle tue mani.
SECONDA LETTURA
Inoltre apparve a

E dissi:
«Ohimè! Io sono perduto,

VANGELO
Il Signore sia con tutti voi
Dal vangelo di Luca
E con il tuo spirito
Gloria a Te, O’ Signore.
I pescatori erano scesi e
Gesù disse a
Simone: «Non temere; d’ora in poi sarai pescatore di
uomini».
