At the corner of Wood Street, when daylight appears,
All’angolo di Via Bosco, quando la luce del giorno appare,
Hangs a Thrush that sings loud, it has sung for three years:

Poor Susan has passed by the spot, and has heard
La Povera Susanna è passata accanto al luogo, ed ha udito
In the silence of morning the song of the Bird.
Nel silenzio della mattina la canzone dell’Uccello.
Tis a note of enchantment; what ails her? She sees
È una nota di incantesimo; che la affligge? Ella vede
A mountain ascending, a vision of trees;
tis = it is
Una montagna che si innalza, un’immagine di alberi;
Bright volumes of vapour through Lothbury glide,
Brillanti quantità di vapore strisciano attraverso Lothbury,
And a river flows on through the vale of Cheapside.
Ed un fiume scorre attraverso la valle di Cheapside.
Green pastures she views in the midst of the dale,
Verdi pascoli ella vede in mezzo alla valle,
Down which she so often has tripped with her pail;
Giù dove lei così spesso ha camminato col suo secchio;
And a single small cottage, a nest like a dove's,
Ed una sola casetta, un nido come (quello) di una colomba,
The one only dwelling on earth that she loves.
L’unica casa sulla terra che lei ama.

She looks, and her heart is in heaven: but they fade,
Ella guarda, ed il suo cuore è in paradiso: ma loro svaniscono,
The mist and the river, the hill and the shade:
La foschia ed il fiume, la collina e l’ombra:
The stream will not flow, and the hill will not rise,
Il fiume non scorrerà, e la collina non si innalzerà,
And the colours have all passed away from her eyes!
Ed i colori sono tutti scomparsi dai suoi occhi!
