AMCHAM Transatlantic Awards, premio al business Italia-USA L o scorso 29 novembre a Milano, nella spettacolare cornice allestita presso gli East End Studios, ha avuto luogo la quinta edizione dei Transatlantic Awards, promossa dalla American Chamber of Commerce in Italy. Presenti, tra gli ospiti d’onore, l’Ambasciatore degli Stati Uniti d’America in Italia David Thorne, il Ministro dello Sviluppo Economico Paolo Romani, il Ministro della Salute Ferruccio Fazio e il Presidente della Regione Lombardia Roberto Formigoni. Segnali di fiducia e di ottimismo per il futuro di una ripresa economica, sono emersi negli interventi dei presenti, come ha tenuto a sottolineare anche Simone Crolla, Consigliere delegato dell’AmCham, il quale non ha del resto nascosto la soddisfazione per il successo di questa quinta edizione del Premio, nato “dalla visione e dalla lungimiranza del past president, Umberto Paolucci. In cinque anni, questa nostra iniziativa è diventata un evento per certi versi simbolico, per la business community italiana e americana, in quanto testimonia l’amicizia, la collaborazione e il forte legame economico tra i nostri due Paesi”. Soddisfazione è stata espressa anche dal Presidente Vittorio Terzi, che ha evidenziato il fatto che “gli oltre 500 soci che fanno parte dell’AmCham trovano nella nostra Camera un alleato indispensabile per la promozione e lo sviluppo del loro business, che oggi rappresenta oltre il 2% del Pil nazionale”. Ma i veri protagonisti della serata, come è naturale che sia, sono stati i premiati: Giuseppe Orsi, AD di AgustaWestland (per oltre mezzo secolo di partnership con l’industria elicotteristica statunitense); Timothy C. Tyson, Executive Chairman & CEO di Aptuit, (per il consistente investimento in Italia, nel campo della ricerca farmaceutica); Sergio Marchionne, AD del Gruppo Fiat (per aver contribuito a lanciare l’immagine dell’Italia nel mondo nel settore automobilistico); Iginio Straffi, Presidente di Rainbow (per aver siglato accordi con le principali reti televisive statunitensi per la distribuzione di film e prodotti Winx); Riccardo La Manna, AD di State Street Bank (per l’acquisizione di Intesa Sanpaolo securities services business); Pancho Pérez, General Manager EMEA di SunEdison (per il massiccio investimento in Italia nel settore fotovoltaico). Come ha tenuto a sottolineare anche l’Ambasciatore David Thorne, “gli Stati Uniti così come l’Europa, e in particolare l’Italia, stanno affrontando una grande sfida: stimolare la crescita economica. Su questa linea d’azione si inserisce la mission dell’American Chamber of Commerce, da sempre mirata alle opportunità di business tra Italia e Stati Uniti. www.amcham.it di Pietro Viola Sergio Marchionne tra Vittorio Terzi e Simone Crolla Transatlantic Awards, a Prize for Italy-US Business A recognition for companies that have worked in the interests of relations between the two countries as a result of AmCham n November 29, 2010, the fifth edition of the Transatlantic Awards, promoted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy, was held in the spectacular frame set up at the East End Studios, Milan. The guests of honor included David Thorne, American Ambassador to Italy, Paolo Romani, the Minister for Economic Development, Ferruccio Fazio, Minister for Health, and Roberto Formigoni, President of Regione Lombardia. Those present spoke of signs of faith and optimism for the future of an economic upturn, as Simone Crolla, managing director of AmCham, also stressed, not hiding his satisfaction with the success of the fifth edition of the award, arising “from the vision and farsightedness of the past president, Umberto Paolucci. In five years, our event has become an event, symbolic from certain points of view, for the Italian and American business community as it witnesses the friendship, collaboration and strong economic bond between our two countries.” Vittorio Terzi, president, also expressed his satisfaction, highlighting the fact that “the more than 500 members of AmCham find an essential ally for the promotion and de- O velopment of their business, which is now more than 2% of the GDP, in our Chamber.” However, the true stars of the evening, as is natural, were the award-winners Giuseppe Orsi, CEO of AgustaWestland (for more than 50 years of partnership with the American helicopter industry), Timothy C. Tyson, Executive Chairman & CEO of Aptuit (for consistent investment in Italy in the field of pharmaceutical research), Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat group (for contributing to launching the image of Italy in the world in the car sector), Iginio Straffi, president of Rainbow (for signing agreements with the leading American television networks for young people and the distribution of Winx films and products), Riccardo La Manna, CEO of State Street Bank (for the acquisition of the Intesa Sanpaolo securities services business), and Pancho Pérez, General Manager EMEA of SunEdison (for the massive investment in Italy in the photovoltaic sector). As Ambassador David Thorne stressed, “the United States, like Europe and, in particular Italy, is facing a great challenge – stimulating economic growth. In the longterm, I firmly believe that the solution for returning to being economically competitive is to increase the effort to support and reward entrepreneurship and innovation.” The mission of the AmCham is involved in business opportunities between Italy and the United States.
