MARRAKECH BRIDES
FEMALE COOPERATIVE
Type of activity: feminine enterpreneurship
The Cooperative Araais Marrakech (Brides of Marrakech Cooperative) was founded in January 2006
by a group of women helped by Association EL AMANE who decided to start a income-generating
activity to help themselves in getting out their hard economic and social condition. The headquarters
of the cooperative is in Sid Youssef Ben Ali quarter.
The cooperative, counting 15 associates, offers catering services for weddings and other events; up to
now it is the only fully-feminine wedding catering provider in Marrakech, and competition by males is
very hard.
SERVICES
event planning (weddings, meetings,
conferences)
cuisine and pastry
photo and video services
henné
traditional wedding dresses renting
kitchen and table equipment renting
COOKING WORKSHOPS
The cooperative girls propose cooking workshops to those travellers who wish to learn how to prepare
the tajine, the couscous, and other Moroccan delicacies: a half-day plunging into the Moroccan daily
life, shopping at the market, learning some Moroccan words, and then cooking and tasting the lunch
with the women.

HOW TO HELP
The association needs economic support, but also and first of all a way to get itself more visible:
anyone available in designing and implementing the cooperative web site can contact Monica
([email protected]).
Another way to support the association is to buy objects manufactured by the women, among which
the pastries (better to reserve well in advance) or to make use of available services, as participation to
a cooking workshop, meals preparation at EL AMANE Association base, in Sidi Youssef Ben Ali
quarter, or having a henné tatoo made by the girls.
