Il pensiero architettonico di Luigi Snozzi, al di là delle
turbolenze delle tendenze attuali, è caratterizzato da
un’ineccepibile lucidità e tende a una continua
essenzializzazione espressiva. Dalla piccola casa ai grandi
progetti urbanistici, costruire è per Snozzi una questione
pubblica, quindi anche politica: egli progetta, insegna, scrive,
interviene, polemizza, svelando i veri problemi e risultando
perciò spesso scomodo. Un significato didattico è implicito
a molti dei suoi progetti.
In 45 anni di intensa attività Snozzi, settantenne, ha
progettato molto, ma ha potuto costruire poco. Questa
pubblicazione, l’unica monografia completa e aggiornata,
presenta cronologicamente e in maniera esaustiva i 130
progetti più importanti, con piani a colori e in parte con
nuove fotografie. Un capitolo separato illustra la
pianificazione e le costruzioni di Monte Carasso (TI), quale
esempio eccezionale di pianificazione urbanistica odierna e
di traduzione nel piccolo della teoria urbanistica di Snozzi.
Testi di e su Luigi Snozzi, così come una bibliografia e un
elenco delle opere completano questa monografia in
italiano e inglese, con traduzione separata in tedesco.
L'opera completa è divisa in tre volumi. Il primo e il
secondo, comprensivi dei progetti e delle realizzazioni degli
anni 1958-92, corrispondono a un'edizione interamente
riveduta e ampliata della grande monografia del 1993,
esaurita da oltre un anno. Il terzo volume presenta per la
prima volta i lavori dell'ultimo decennio.
The architectural thinking of Luigi Snozzi, beyond the
turbulence of present trends, is characterized by impeccable
lucidity, aimed at refining expression to the essential. From
small houses to major urban planning projects, for Snozzi
construction is a public, and therefore also political, issue: he
designs, teaches, writes, contributes, debates, indicating the
real problems and therefore often ruffling feathers. Many of
his projects contain an implicit didactic aspect.
Over 45 years of intense activity Snozzi, now in his
seventies, has designed much but built little.This publication,
the only complete, up-to-date monograph, presents the 130
most important projects in chronological order, with
complete descriptions and illustrations, including new
photographs. One chapter is set aside for the planning and
constructions at Monte Carasso (TI), an exceptional case of
urban planning, a microcosmic translation of the urban
theories of Snozzi.

and a complete listing of his works, in this monograph in
Italian and English, with a separate German translation.
The complete work is divided into three volumes.The first
and second, covering the projects and constructed works
from the period 1958-92, correspond to an entirely revised
edition of the major monograph published in 1993, which
has been out of print for a year now.The third volume
features the works of the last decade, published here for
the first time.
Abseits der Turbulenzen heutiger Tendenzen ist Luigi Snozzis
Entwerfen gekennzeichnet durch eine klare Vision.Vom
kleinen Haus bis zu den grossen städtischen Projekten, ist
Bauen für ihn eine öffentliche, also auch eine politische
Tätigkeit: er entwirft, lehrt, schreibt, interveniert, polemisiert,
legt die wahren Probleme offen und ist deshalb oft
unbequem. Seine Entwürfe beinhalten damit auch eine
didaktische Bedeutung.
In seiner 45-jährigenTätigkeit und im 72. Lebensjahr stehend
hat Snozzi viel entworfen aber wenig gebaut.
Die bisher einzige Monografie gibt einen Gesamtüberblick
seines Schaffens bis heute, präsentiert in ausführlicher Weise
die wichtigsten 130 Projekte und Bauten mit zum Teil neuen
Fotografien und farbigen Plänen in chronologischer Ordnung.
Ein separater Teil behandelt die Planung und Realisierung von
Monte Carasso (TI) als einem einzigartigen Beispiel heutiger
Ortsplanung und damit die entsprechende Umsetzung von
Snozzis Theorie von Stadtplanung im kleinen Masstab .
Schriften von und über Luigi Snozzi, eine Bibliografie und ein
Werkverzeichnis beschliessen dieses monografische
Architektur-Buch in Italienisch, Englisch und mit separater
Uebersetzung in Deutsch.
Das Gesamtwerk ist in 3 Bände geteilt. Band 1 und 2
enthalten die Projekte und Bauten der Jahre 1958-92 als eine
revidierte und erweiterte Auflage der grossen Monografie von
1993, schon seit anderthalb Jahren vergriffen.
Band 3 zeigt erstmals die Arbeiten der letzten zehn Jahre.
