Dear Passengers,
welcome on board.
Eccoci nel 2013, dunque, e speriamo possa essere un anno davvero
buono per tutti. Per noi, donne e uomini, e per il mondo nel quale
viviamo. Noi di Blue Panorama siamo da sempre in prima linea
nella difesa dell’ambiente e della natura, convinti che sia molto
importante salvaguardare le meraviglie del nostro pianeta, che siano naturali o opera dell’uomo. Tutti insieme, e ciascuno per la
sua piccola parte, dobbiamo contribuire a lasciare ai nostri figli
una Terra nelle migliori condizioni possibili. Perché le meraviglie
che ci sono non vadano né disperse né danneggiate. Prendiamo i
luoghi magici che presentiamo nel nostro magazine. Cuba è mare,
natura, architettura, sentimenti, gente meravigliosa. Si fanno migliaia di chilometri per andare a godere di quel sole e di quell’acqua cristallina. Così come la Thailandia, che offre isole straordinarie, gentilezza, un Nord ancora poco conosciuti e sorprendenti.
Tutto questo merita rispetto e attenzione, se vogliamo continuare
a gioire di questi tesori. Nel magazine presentiamo anche Panama
dove è stata l’opera dell’uomo a regalare fama a questa porzione di
mondo, con la realizzazione di un canale che è diventato, insieme
a mille altre motivi, una stupefacente ragione di visita.
Quello che si sta avvicinando è un periodo che regala allegria.
Appena usciti dalle feste di Natale e Fine Anno entriamo nelle
settimane di ebbrezza che regala il Carnevale, celebrato in tutto il
mondo con balli e coloratissime parate. Ce ne occupiamo con un
bellissimo servizio che ci porta in varie parti del mondo, lì dove
Blue Panorama può accompagnarvi.

Here we are in 2013, then, and we hope it will be a really good
year for everyone. For us, women and men, and the world in
which we live in. At Blue Panorama, we always have been at
the forefront of environmental protection and nature, we are
sure that it is very important to preserve the wonders of our
planet, whether natural or man-made. All together, each one
in his own small way, we need to give our children the Earth
in the best possible condition. With the aim to preserve and
avoid the damage of our wonders. Let’s take into account the
magical places that we present in our magazine. Cuba is sea,
nature, architecture, feelings, wonderful people. There are
thousands of miles to go to enjoy the sun and that crystal clear
water. As well as Thailand, which offers extraordinary islands,
politeness, a North still not well known and surprising. All this
deserves respect and attention if we want to continue to enjoy these treasures. In the magazine we also present Panama
where it was the work of man to give fame to this part of the
world, with the creation of a canal that has become, along with
a thousand other reasons, an amazing reason to visit Panama.
What is coming is a period that gives joy. Just back from
Christmas and New Year we enter the weeks of inebriation
that gives the Carnival, celebrated all over the world with colourful dances and parades. We are dealing with a great service that takes us around the world, wherever Blue Panorama

cittadina è situata la dimora dell’ex impresario della Disney Mark Hurt,
una casa che nasconde un segreto da brivido: l’abitazione infatti riproduce molto fedelmente la Casa dei Fantasmi di Disneyland.
Sarà per via dei rumori molesti e delle sorprese da batticuore che la famiglia Hurt avrà deciso di metterla in vendita per la bella cifra di 900 mila
dollari? Che gli amanti del terrore si facciano avanti, la casa da brivido è
all’asta.

A quanto pare i personaggi nati dalla fervida immaginazione di Walt Disney non sono tutti farina del
suo sacco. Il personaggio dell’avaro zio Paperon
De Paperoni sarebbe stato ispirato da un romanzo
di Dickens. A Christmas Carol ha
dato vita alla figura dello zio
più facoltoso di Paperopoli.
Paperone non è altro che
il riadattamento di
Uncle Scrooge, personaggio ideato da
Dickens nel 1843, e ne
ricalca sia il carattere che i
tratti fisici: stesso cappello ottocentesco,
stesso carattere irascibile e indole egoista.
Una somiglianza tanto marcata che negli
anni ha portato la celebre casa cinematografica a trasporre Un Canto di Natale in
versione animata e protagonista indiscusso
della piccola è stato, ovviamente, Paperone. E
Come ogni happy ending che si rispetti, lo
Scrooge di Dickens e il Paperone di Disney
riescono alla fine a riconquistare la loro indole buona proprio il giorno di Natale.

years has resulted in the famous film studio to transpose
A Christmas Carol in the animated version and undisputed leader of it was, of course, Scrooge McDuck. And,
like any happy ending, worth of respect, the Scrooge of
Dickens and the Scrooge McDuck by Disney can eventually regain their good nature precisely on Christmas Day.

Company, il National Theatre non sono
mai stati diretti da una donna. È uno dei
fallimenti della mia generazione. Purtroppo sul palcoscenico la storia è simile, le
donne rappresentano solo un terzo degli
attori professionisti. Perché? Non ho figlie, ma ho una nipote, mi piacerebbe che
guardasse al teatro come a un ambiente
in cui c'è parità». Uno spettacolo maschile
recitato al femminile.
Interessante la scelta della regista Phyllida Lloy che per portare in scena il Giulio
Cesare di Shakespeare sceglie un cast di
sole donne. Lo spettacolo, presentato in
un piccolo teatro di Covent Garden, Londra, è stato pensato in questa particolare
chiave per dare maggior risalto alla figura
della donna e quale opera migliore se non
la più maschile del drammaturgo inglese
per perseguire quest’intento? «Le donne
nei teatri ci sono, anche ai massimi livelli,
ma gestiscono gli edifici, gli stabili, non le
compagnie – spiega la regista del musi-

Una legge in Israele ha recentemente proibito alle modelle troppo magre
di girare spot pubblicitari. A stabilirlo un decreto che ha bandito dalla tv

Quando si nomina Cuba quello che come un gioco pirotecnico esplode nella mente è fatto di immagini di mille colori.
Forse anche di più, perché a quelli reali bisogna aggiungere i
colori che l'emozione non riesce a strappare al reale e rapita
li inventa. Il mare, la musica, il ballo, ma anche un sorriso
o un vestito di cotone stampato gonfiato dalle raffiche delle
mareggiate sul Malecòn. Immaginazione, insomma, e l'incrollabile possibilità che Cuba ti offre, visitandola, di tornare
indietro nella storia attraverso la sua architettura, entrando
in contatto con molteplici culture. Basta girare per la vecchia
L'Avana per rendersene conto. Anche le macchine sono storiche: Buick o Pontiac o Chevrolet degli anni Quaranta, rabberciate, sbilenche, rumorose, ma che hanno curve sinuose

zato riesce a oscurare. Un mondo che si è fermato il giorno
di Capodanno del 1959 con la fuga di Fulgenzio Batista. Un
mondo che si è fermato e ripartito, dando la possibilità di scoprire le bellezze architettoniche, naturali, marine, culturali e
il suo popolo ospitale e amichevole, dal sorriso accattivante,
allegro e affabile, delle caratteristiche riconosciutegli in tutto
il mondo. Cuba è architettura coloniale, esempio ne è L’Avana
“Vieja”, continuamente in ristrutturazione e recupero, storia
viva, unica e autentica.
Cuba però non è solo L'Avana e il lavoro realizzato dallo Stato e dal Ministero del turismo è volto a far scoprire anche
altre zone dell'isola. Santiago de Cuba è una di queste. Per
certi versi Santiago rappresenta l'anima vera di Cuba, città
definita Rivoluzionaria, la più caraibica ed ospitale, ricca di
riferimenti storici e culturali, qui Fidel Castro ha dichiarato
la fine della dittatura di Batista.

W
hen you mention Cuba what comes in your mind,
as a firework that explodes, is something made
up of images of many colours. Maybe even more,
because you need to add to the actual colours the
ones that emotion cannot pulls out to the reality but, kidnapped,
it invents them. Sea, music, dance, but also a smile or a printed
cotton dress blown by the gusts of winds storm on the Malecòn.
Imagination, in short, and the unfailing possibilities that Cuba
offers, visiting, to go in history through its architecture, coming
in contact with many cultures. Just have a walk in the old Havana
to realize this. Even the machines are historical: Pontiac, Buick or
Chevrolet of ‘40s, patched up, crooked, noisy, but have sinuous
curves that nowadays no other car can show, candy pink colours
or ultramarine blue that nobody in pearlescent anthracite can
obscure. A world that stopped the New Year's Day in 1959 with
Fulgencio Batista’s running away. A world stopped and re-started, giving the opportunity to discover the architectural beauties
or the natural and marine one or cultural and its people friendly
and hospitable, with the charming smile, cheerful and affable,
well-known features all over the world. Cuba is colonial architecture, as it is Havana "Vieja", constantly restructuring and under
recovery, living history, unique and authentic. However, Cuba is
not only Havana and the work carried out by the State and the

already in itself a journey.
Other places of prestige of Cuban land are Baracoa, in Aracua
language means "high land", famous for its natural beauty; San
Salvador de Bayamo, famous for the means of transport - currently they still use carriage hauled by horses; Villa de la Santissima Trinidad, famous for the urban architecture; Sancti Spiritus,
whose symbol has now become the Yayabo; typical for its urban
asymmetric layout is rather Santa Maria del Puerto del Principe;
San Juan de Los Remedios, city in which they started the Parrandas Remedianes, one of the oldest and most famous folk festivals
in Cuba and which guards the museum dedicated to the musician Alejandro García Caturla, whose merit is to have revolutionized the Cuban symphonic music; Santa Clara, well-known for the
famous Che Guevara mausoleum and for Leoncino Vidal Park, a
monument of national prestige. Finally, it is worth to remember
Pinar del Rio, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Las Tunas and Holguìn.

Passeggiare in città riserva continuamente delle sorprese:
dal Paseo de Martì, all’Avenida 24 de Febrero, all’Alameda
del Puerto è tutto un susseguirsi di splendidi palazzi e piazze
alberate che giocano a rimpiattino coi colori del mare. Ma
la vera emozione è "El Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca del
Morro" patrimonio dell’ Unesco. La fortezza domina dall'alto
la baia ed è il complesso fortificato meglio conservato di tutti i Caraibi. Arrivarci, fra calette, giardini lussureggianti e i
blu profondi di un mare splendido e eternamente cangiante,
è già di per sé un viaggio. Altre località di prestigio della terra cubana sono Baracoa, che in linguaggio Aracua significa
“terra alta”, celebre per le sue bellezze naturali; San Salvador

de Bayamo, famosa per i suoi mezzi di trasporto – attualmente si utilizzano ancora delle carrozze trainate da cavalli; Villa de la Santissima Trinidad, celebre per l’architettura urbana; Sancti Spiritus, il cui
simbolo è ormai divenuto il ponte Yayabo; caratteristica per il suo
tracciato urbano asimmetrico è invece Santa Maria del Puerto del
Principe; San Juan De Los Remedios, città in cui si è dato inizio alla
Parrandas Remedianes, una delle feste popolari più antiche e famose

è un rito non un passatempo. E come in un sacrificio la vittima, visto

un Puro nel posacenere andrebbe immediatamente scomunicato e
condannato all'inferno dei sigari cubani: un mondo senza bellezza e

A Cuba il sigaro è una religione e come ogni religione
ha i suoi adepti e fa proseliti. Si potrebbe continuare
col paragone dicendo che, come in ogni altra religione, esistono i dogmi, le verità rivelate, l'ortodossia e
le eresie. Il fatto è che la pianta del tabacco cresce un
po' ovunque sul continente americano (oggi ovviamente cresce anche altrove) ma solo a Cuba trova le
condizioni microclimatiche ideali. La cosa è tanto vera
che, anche spostandosi di poco sull'isola, la qualità
delle foglie cambia da zona a zona. Il sigaro cubano
è composto di tre parti: la fascia (capa), il ripieno (tripa) e la sottofascia (capote). Tradizionalmente sono
le donne che si occupano di selezionare le foglie per
i diversi impieghi. Una volta scelte, le foglie vengono
arrotolate da esperti torceador: l'Avana infatti, almeno nella fascia, deve essere fatto interamente a mano.
Per un cubano fumare male un Puro è quasi un delitto.
Intanto c'è da dire che il sigaro cubano deve essere
conservato in condizioni ottimali di umidità e temperatura fino al momento dell'accensione che, come in
tutte le religioni, è un vero rito. Il sigaro, dopo essere
stato tagliato all'estremità chiusa, va acceso al piede
senza aspirare ma solo facendolo ruotare fra le dita.
Solo dopo si può portare alle labbra. La fiamma deve
rigorosamente essere quella di un fiammifero o di un

conditions of humidity and temperature until the lighting up, as in
all religions, is a true ritual. The cigar, after being cut to the closed
end, goes on fire “to the foot” without inhale but only by rotating it
between the fingers. Only after that, it can be brought to the lips. The
flame must strictly be that of a match or a gas lighter. The Pure needs
to be smoked slowly and consciously, is a rite not an hobby. And as
in a sacrifice, the victim, a link with the god, must be treated with
respect: at the end, the cigar should be left dying alone, almost with
love. Who pushes a Puro in the ashtray should be immediately excommunicated and condemned to the hell of Cuban cigars: a world
without beauty and flavors.

Solidarietà con Cuba contro il Blocco
Lo scorso 3 novembre si è tenuto presso
il Teatro Obi Hall di Firenze l’evento musicale Suoni Meticci live. La kermesse ha
visto la partecipazione di tutti gli artisti
che hanno collaborato al CD Suoni Meticci, l'iniziativa ideata da Andrea Paolieri e
Marco Vecchi in collaborazione con l’Associazione Nazionale d’Amicizia Italia-Cuba
per raccogliere fondi destinati alla cura di
bambini cubani ammalati di cancro che, a
causa del blocco economico, commerciale
e finanziario statunitense, non possono accedere direttamente ai farmaci necessari.
In soli 6 mesi il CD ha venduto oltre 2.000
copie e, oltre ad artisti del calibro di Beppe Carletti dei Nomadi, i Sud Sound System, la Banda Bassotti, Mama Marjas, i
Malasuerte Fi Sud, i Fratelli Rossi, la Banda
K100 e altri esponenti di rilievo della musica indipendente internazionale, ha avuto
in Renzo Arbore, Carla Fracci – ballerina di
fama mondiale e Ambasciatrice di Buona
volontà della Fao e Don Gallo promoter
d'eccezione. L'intero ricavato della serata
è stato utilizzato per l’acquisto di farmaci
antitumorali pediatrici e, ancora una volta,
un'iniziativa di solidarietà di ampio respiro
ha visto Blue Panorama Airlines, vettore
leader sui collegamenti da e per Cuba,
presente da protagonista non solo come
sponsor ufficiale della manifestazione ma
anche in veste operativa. La Compagnia

to raise funds for the care of Cuban children suffering from cancer

In just 6 months, the CD sold over 2,000 copies and, in addition to
artist like Beppe Carletti of the Nomadi, the Sud Sound System,
the Banda Bassotti, Mama Marjas, the Malasuerte Fi Sud, Fratelli
Rossi, the Banda K100 and other leading representatives of the
international independent music, had in Renzo Arbore, Carla
Fracci – famous worldwide dancer and Goodwill Ambassador of
the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) – and Don Gallo exceptional promoters. All proceeds from the evening will be used
to purchase antitumor pediatric drugs and once again a great initiative of solidarity saw the Blue Panorama Airlines, leading carrier
on routes to and from Cuba, being present and leader not only as
a sponsor of the official event but also in operational role. Franco
Pecci’s company, in fact, in collaboration with Cubana de Aviación
SA, has made available, for free, the cargo capacity to deal with
the transport of medicines to the population of Santiago de Cuba
recently stroke by Hurricane Sandy. In the past, Blue Panorama
Airlines was the protagonist of a similar operation to provide relief
to Haitian people: a way to honor a deep connection that now
binds, from more than 10 years, the Italian Company to the Caribbean and Cuba in particular.

hiamatelo Craig, Daniel Craig. Occhi che più azzurri non
si può, palestrato quanto basta, faccia da pugile e un animo gentile. Daniel Wroughton Craig, classe '68, il James
Bond del nuovo millennio, secondo solo a Hugh Jackman
nel 2008 come “uomo più sexy del mondo” nella classifica stilata da
People, non è solo tutto muscoli, ha anche un cervello e lo fa funzionare.
Ha lavorato duramente per meritarsi uno dei ruoli più ambiti di tutto
il cinema al quale ha regalato una maturità che i suoi predecessori si
sognavano: «Non ero preparato a bere Martini e aggiustarmi la camicia, ma
volevo arrivarci». Forse anche per questo i fan della saga inventata da Ian
Fleming non hanno accolto tanto bene la sua interpretazione all'epoca
del suo primo Bond, nel 2005, in Casino Royale, che si è invece rivelato fra i maggiori successi di sempre, uno dei migliori film tra tutti gli
007 realizzati. Con l'ultimo capitolo della saga, Skyfall, ha ottenuto il

bar dell'agente 007 si arricchisce infatti di birra Heineken. Un
“male necessario” gradito più che altro dai produttori, visto il
consistente investimento dell'azienda (si parla di 60 milioni di
euro circa). Questa è solo l'ultima delle polemiche nate intorno alla scelta di far recitare Craig nella parte che negli
anni fu di Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore,
Timothy Dalton e Pierce Brosnan. Gli è stato imputato
di tutto: di essere biondo (ma anche Roger Moore lo
era), di non saper guidare col cambio manuale la
mitica Aston Martin, di essersi spaccato i denti per

the latest chapter of the saga, Skyfall, got full consensus and he was able
to make the 007 character a little more nuanced: vulnerable, defeated.

ou say Frida Giannini and you think about Gucci. She is creative director since 2002, she gave
a renewed freshness to the timeless style of the
Florentine fashion house: scarves, bags, accessories and clothes are always up with the times maintaining, however, the elegance that has made the history of
the brand.
Born in 1972, she decided to deepen immediately her
passion for fashion getting a diploma at the Accademia
di Costume e Moda in Rome. After some experience in
small boutiques in Florence, she began her career in the
haute couture world in 1997, when the Fendi sisters engaged her as a stylist. It was love at first sight. The girl's

comic book. The Japanese artist Araki Hiroiko was, in
fact, freely inspired from the last collection for Gucci
Cruise to realize Joline, Fly High with Gucci. The story, tells the adventures of Jolie Kuio, and pays tribute
from the graphics point of view, for colors and shapes
of Cruise collection, offering some references to the
iconic Flora by Gucci.

Come trasformare una passione in un successo planetario. Una missione ardua in cui
solo pochi eletti possono riuscire e Guccio
Gucci è tra questi. Fondatore del marchio
ormai di fama mondiale, il brand vede la
luce nella Firenze del 1921, la città natale
del suo creatore, dove fa ritorno dopo aver
lavorato per svariati anni all’estero – periodo in cui ha acquisito uno spiccato senso
dell’estetica. Inizialmente sorgono piccoli
punti vendita che si occupano della vendita di pellami, articoli da viaggio e accessori
pensati per l’equitazione. L’estro di Gucci
fa da subito la differenza nell’accrescere il
prestigio della casa di moda: sin da subito
sono introdotti i colori simbolo del marchio,
il rosso e il verde, che traggono ispirazione
dal mondo equestre (in particolare il nastro
si rifaceva al sotto-pancia della sella) e i materiali che ne faranno la storia. Durante il periodo autarchico l’introduzione di materiali
poveri permette al brand di sopravvivere e
di porsi in testa ai suoi avversari. Il lino, la
canapa, lo juta e il bambù sostituiscono l’esoso pellame e nel 1938 Gucci inaugura il
suo primo negozio a Via Condotti, il regno
dell’haute couture romano. Poco dopo, nel
1945, il brand diventa una srl ed esporta il
suo prestigio negli Stati Uniti. Ha così inizio
la sua scalata al successo anche oltreoceano.
Mondo equestre e materiali alternativi sono
il biglietto da visita del brand. Su questa linea di pensiero nascono il mocassino con il
morsetto (1952-1953), la prima borsa con il
manico di bambù (1947), il logo GG (ispirato
dalle iniziali del suo fondatore) impiegato
per adornare la GG canvas, un tipo di canapa particolarmente resistente impiegata per
la realizzazione di borse e cinture, e il foulard
Flora (1966). Particolare la storia di quest’ultimo che ha sancito la collaborazione tra Ro-
dolfo Gucci e Vittorio Accornero de Testa.
Lo stilista, trovatosi di fronte a Grace Kelly, in
quel periodo in visita alla boutique milanese, le chiede quale dono gradisce ricevere.
La risposta della principessa lo lascia però
basito: la star chiede infatti un foulard floreale dai toni vivaci, un pezzo che la casa non
aveva mai realizzato. è a questo punto che
lo stilista si rivolge ad Accornero che nell’arco di una sola notte realizza il folulard, unico
nel suo genere, traendo ispirazione dalla
Primavera di Botticelli. Da questo momento in poi il prestigio della casa si estende a
tutte le celebrità dello star system: da Grace
Kelly a Audrey Hepburn, da Jackie Kennedy
a Maria Callas, fino ad arrivare a Wallis Simpson duchessa di Windsor.

How to turn a passion into a global success.
A difficult task in which only a few elected
can succeed and Guccio Gucci is among
them. Founder of the now world-famous
brand, the brand was born in Florence in
1921, the birthplace of its creator, where he
returned after working abroad for several
years - during this time, he acquired a strong
sense of aesthetics. At the beginning there
were small stores that deal with the sale of
leather, luggage and accessories designed
for riding. The inspiration of Gucci made
soon the difference in increasing the prestige of the fashion house and right immediately they introduced the brand's
iconic colors, red and green, inspired by the
equestrian world (in particular the band was
drown on the under-belly of the saddle) and
materials that will make history. During the
autarkic period, the introduction of poor
materials allows the brand to survive and
to stand at the head of its opponents. Flax,
hemp, jute and bamboo replace the expensive leather and in 1938 Gucci opened his
first shop in Via Condotti, the haute couture realm in Rome. Soon after, in 1945, the
brand became a limited company and exports its prestige in the United States. Thus,
it began the climb to success even overseas.
Equestrian and alternative materials are
the brand business card. On this line of
thought were born the moccasin with the
clip (1952-1953), the first bag with bamboo
handle (1947), the GG logo (inspired by the
initials of the founder) used to adorn the GG
canvas, a particular type of resistant hemp
used for making bags and belts, and the
Flora scarf (1966). Unusual the history of
the latter, which established the collaboration between Rodolfo Gucci and Vittorio
Accornero de Testa. The fashion designer,
finding himself in front of Grace Kelly, at that
time she was visiting the boutique in Milan,
he asked what gift she like to receive. The
response of the princess, however, left everyone astonished: the star asked to have a
bright colored floral scarf, a piece that the
house had never realized. At this point, the
designer addressed to Accornero that, in
just one night, realized the scarf, unique of
its genre, inspired by Botticelli's Primavera.
From this moment on, the prestige of the
house extends to all the star system celebrities: Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie

Eurochocolate: manifestazione annuale dedicata al mondo del
cioccolato. Il principale appuntamento ha sede a Perugia nel
mese di ottobre. La prima edizione, voluta dal suo ideatore, l’architetto Eugenio Guarducci, si è svolta nel 1993.
Il Pizzafest, evento dedicato alla pizza, si tiene a Napoli ogni anno
a metà settembre e consiste nella degustazione di vari tipi di
pizza.
Il Salone internazionale del gusto è un salone dedicato all'enogastronomia che si svolge ogni due anni a ottobre nei padiglioni
di Lingotto Fiere a Torino. L’evento è organizzato da Slow Food,
dalla Regione Piemonte e dal comune di Torino. La prima edizione è stata nel 1996.
Lo Slow Fish è il salone internazionale del pesce e della pesca sostenibile, organizzato da Slow Food a Genova. La prossima edizione si terrà dal 10 al 13 maggio presso
la Fiera del capoluogo ligure.
Cheese è un evento biennale braidese dedicato alle forme del latte. Promosso da Slow Food,
si inserisce nella tradizione

l Carnevale di Venezia, il Carnevale di Viareggio, lo Storico Carnevale di Ivrea che culmina con la Battaglia delle
Arance e in Sicilia il Carnevale di Acireale e il Carnevale di Sciacca. La festa del carnevale ha le sue origini
nell’universo cattolico, quindi in Sudamerica e così in Italia, ma
ogni Paese oggi ne ha uno. Chiamato in modo diverso, la festa
del carnevale presenta ad ogni latitudine gli stessi ingredienti
di base: travestimento, sregolatezza, stravolgimento dell’ordine
che preannuncia e accoglie il rinnovamento. E le famose frittelle, ovviamente.

Uscendo dai confini italiani, quali sono i carnevali più belli del
mondo?
Indubbiamente quello di Rio de Janeiro è il più noto, coloratissimo, ricchissimo e sfarzoso di piume e danzatrici seminude dai
corpi torniti e armoniosi. Anima della festa è la musica, la danza
del samba che travolge ed eccita mentre per le strade i carri allegorici enormi e rumorosissimi sfilano, facendo da palcoscenico

i febbrili preparativi con la chiusura del Capodanno: ogni
quartiere si dedica alla progettazione dei costumi e dei
mascheramenti, dei tamburi che durante la festa echeggiano ovunque in un instancabile ritmo che coinvolge e
trascina le folle. I principali eventi del carnevale hanno
luogo nel Queen's Park Savannah, situato al centro della
capitale Port of Spain: ecco il cuore pulsante di queste
piccole ma travolgenti terre in mezzo all’Atlantico.

Undoubtedly the one of Rio de Janeiro is the most
famous, colorful, rich and gaudy feathers and half-naked
dancers with the bodies well – rounded and harmonious. Central part of
the feast is the music, the samba dance that overwhelms and excites the
streets while the huge floats and noisy parades, making the stage to a
unique show in the world.
Joy, movement, chaos: the carnival is a feast related to the Catholic tradition, but it has all the features of pagan festivals, the Dionysian Greek and
Roman Saturnalia, celebrations where it was realized a kind of momentary break from social obligations and hierarchies to relax and joke and
sometimes to debauchery. Second only to the Rio Carnival, is the Carnival
in the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago. In the islands feverish
the preparations; they begin with the closing of the New Year Day: every
neighborhood dedicated itself to the design of the costumes and masks,
drums that during the feast sound everywhere in a relentless rhythm that
engages and pulls the crowds. The main events of the carnival take place

nel 1965 hanno portato il carnevale in Inghilterra. Immigrati dei Caraibi che non
hanno saputo resistere a quel sentimento tutto sudamericano di esorcizzare la
propria condizione svantaggiata: nasce
così il carnevale di Notting Hill per tutti
coloro che ogni giorno dovevano affrontare il razzismo, la mancanza di lavoro e
le pessime condizioni di vita. Il motto di
questo capodanno, da sempre, è “Ogni
spettatore è un protagonista”: dunque
una festa che nasce per unire e rendere
parteci tutti, anche le minoranze. Soprattutto le minoranze. Sotto lo stesso cielo
genti di tutte le provenienze si vestono
di coloratissimi costumi e si avviluppano
in un vorticoso cocktail multietnico. Il
Carnevale di Notting Hill è dunque il più
variegato in assoluto con gruppi provenienti dall’Afghanistan, Khurdistan, Bangladesh, Filippine, Bulgaria, Russia, Brasile, Caraibi, Africa, centro e sud America,
nonché ovviamente dalla stessa Gran Bretagna. A dispetto di tutti gli altri carnevali
del mondo che si svolgono a febbraio, il
Notting Hill Carnival viene organizzato
nel mese di agosto e dura per due giorni

in February, the Notting Hill Carnival is held
during the month of August and lasts for
two days, during the Bank holiday, being
the last Monday in August, and on the Sunday that precedes it.

«Tutto è arte, tutti possono farne. L’arte deve
essere divertente, occuparsi di tutto ed essere accessibile a tutti» sosteneva George
Maciunas, fondatore del movimento Fluxus
al quale, come solo rare volte accade nella
storia dell’arte, parteciparono diverse donne. In mostra le opere delle artiste provenienti dai luoghi più disparati che si sono
incrociate e intrecciate a livello creativo:
nomi come Yoko Ono, Charlotte Moorman,
Alison Knowles, Shigeko Kubota, Takako Saito, Mieko (Chieko) Shiomi, Kate Millet, femminista ed attivista, Simone Forti e Carolee

Mezzo secolo dopo la sua nascita e in una
località che fu proprio uno dei poli di Fluxus,
la fondazione palazzo Magnani di Reggio
Emilia dedica una mostra a questo vivace

strong, fascinating, evocative – which manifests itself in a celebration of music, pictures, shadow that plays with, in a central

that transports the visitor in an epic and
fairytale dimension, where time cancels
out. The work origins from a long-term reflection on the concept of time, developed
by Kentridge with the physicist and historian of science Peter L. Gallison and created
in collaboration with the composer Philip
Miller and Catherine Meyburgh for video
processing and editing.
The exhibition that pays homage to the
genius of the contemporary art scene includes 14 unpublished serigraphs and
preparatory sketches for The Refusal of
Time, a maquette of the staging of Refuse
the Hour and six works of the permanent
MAXXI collection, some of them are exhibited for the first time.

L'esposizione, a cura di Francesco Poli, propone diversi olii su tela dell’artista veneziano considerato tra i massimi esponenti della
vita artistica e culturale italiana nella seconda metà del ‘900.
In mostra diversi oli su tela che dimostrano molto bene lo sviluppo della ricerca
dell’artista tra la fine degli anni Cinquanta
e gli anni Sessanta, un periodo di sperimentazioni: dai primi studi per i Plurimi, fino a
giungere al ciclo degli Absurdes Berliner
Tagebuch ’64.
Infine, a documentare la crescita dello studio dell’artista sono presenti due opere del
1986 Oltre e Tondo non dove ‘86 – 2, in cui
perimetro del cerchio e la superficie, fatta
di accesi contrasti tra il bianco e il nero e
violente pennellate di rosso, evocano l’instabilità spaziotemporale della vita umana.

Bologna will host the first stay of Amazing Models that in
April will move to Vienna and then in Leyden. The itinerant exhibition brings together a collection of anatomical
models made between ‘700 and ‘900, from the first wax
figures to the most current resins passing through the
papier-machè and the anatomical drawing and bringing

uovo anno, nuovo suv. La Renault lancia sul mercato la
Renault Captur, un suv compatto dal design e dalle caratteristiche futuristiche. Il gioiellino della casa automobilistica verrà presentato in anteprima mondiale al Salone di
Ginevra nel mese di marzo.
Un nome ma non una garanzia: Captur infatti non è ancora il nome
definitivo del veicolo che riprende le caratteristiche di un’altra creatura
della casa. Il suv richiama dal punto di vista dell’architettura e dei motori l’ormai nota Clio e alla crossover Captur.
Ispirata alle forme della Capture – presentata al Salone di Ginevra del
2011 – e costruita sulla base della nuova Clio, la futura Renault Captur
risponde al segmento delle suv compatte.
A plasmare la forma del nuovo modello il designer che sta rivoluzionando lo stile della casa francese: Laurens van den Acker.

design and futuristic features. The jewel of the
car company will have its world premiere at the
Geneva Motor Show in March.
A name but not a guarantee: Captur, in fact, is not the definitive name of the vehicle that has the same features of
another creature of the company. The suv reminds from an
architectural point of view and engines, the well-known Clio
and the crossover Captur.
Inspired by the shapes of Captur - presented at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show - and built on the basis of the new Clio, the

invece è posta sul pannello carrozzeria. Del tutto nuovo
e originale invece la grande losanga posta al centro della
calandra.
Per quanto concerne il sistema di trazione integrale la
Captur prende spunto dalla Nissan Juke, piccola crossover della casa nipponica da cui la Renault aveva già attinto per dar vita al suo modello.

From the new Clio, Renault Captur will take the main engines - including the three-cylinder fuel 0.9i Energy TCe 90

headlights, front and rear, and the R-Link system with touch
screen 7 from which you can access to the function: navigation, telephone, sound system, internet and downloading
applications directly from Renault Store. It differs from the
crossover Captur for the bumpers and the particular placement of the handle of the rear doors: if in the crossover the
handle is integrated into the frame of the window, in the suv,
instead, is placed on the body panel. While completely new
and original is the large lozenge in the center of the radiator
grille.
Concerning the all-wheel drive, Captur takes its cue from the
Nissan Juke, small crossover of the Japanese company from
which Renault had already drawn to give life to its model.

degne di un re sono da sempre la principale causa del sovrappeso. Le feste – toccasana per la gola ma non per la linea – e i
chili di troppo possono essere sconfitti attraverso una
pratica dieta. Per iniziare bene il 2013 la parola d’ordine è depurare. E quale miglior alimento dell’asparago?
Impiegato in numerose ricette gustose grazie al suo
ridotto apporto calorico, l’asparago è ricco di fibra, vitamine A, B1, B6, C, acido folico, amminoacidi, carotenoidi, potassio e fosforo. A renderlo tanto pregiato
è il suo principio fondamentale: l’asparagina – o acido
aspartico – ed è un vero toccasana per chi soffre di
insufficienza renale e di ritenzione idrica. Numerosi
e fantasiosi i modi di cucinare l’ortaggio, come spiega
il nutrizionista Simone Modugno: al vapore o appena
scottati per gli spuntini light o impiegati come ingrediente principale in paste e fritti. La buona usanza in

fruibile dalla luce solare, in inverno è possibile immagazzinarla in

durante la stagione fredda, occorre non dimenticare cibi come frutta

on Snow, prima tappa dell’Audi Polo Gold Cup
2013. A fare da sfondo all’evento il lago di Misurina (vedi box). Posto a quota 1800 metri, questa
bellezza naturale entra a far parte del Patrimonio dell’UNESCO e la sua pista ghiacciata si presta come terreno ideale per
le competizioni sportive.
Nato nel 1989, il Cortina Winter Polo è un evento che si rinnova ormai da più di vent’anni. Strutturato sulla base di quello
di St. Moritz – da cui riprende le regole di base – fu inaugurato
sulla pista ghiacciata del lago di Landro, posto tra Cortina e
Dobbiaco. Due anni più tardi la competizione si sposta sulla
pista del Lago Misurina, una location più assolata e suggestiva,
situata ai piedi delle Tre Cime di Lavaredo e del Monte Sorapis. La disciplina sportiva conquista anno dopo anno una fetta
sempre più grande di spettatori, aumentando il suo prestigio a
tal punto da dar luogo, nel 2002, al Cortina Winter Polo Gold
Cup, prima tappa dell’Audi Polo Gold Cup Circuit, torneo che
si articola in tre prove: la prima gode della location del Lago
Misurina in inverno; la seconda dello sfondo primaverile offerto dal Forte dei Marmi Beach Polo; l’ultima dell’estivo Roma

rom February 17 until February 23 it will takes
place the Cortina Winter Polo Snow, the first
stage of the Audi Polo Gold Cup 2013. The
backdrop of the event will be the Misurina Lake
(see box). Placed at an altitude of 1800 meters, this natural beauty becomes part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and its iced slope is perfect as ideal ground for
sports racing competitions.
Born in 1989, the Cortina Winter Polo is an event that
keeps happening for twenty years. Structured on the
basis of that of St. Moritz – from which it derives the basic rules – was launched on the ice rink of Landro Lake
placed between Cortina and Dobbiaco. Two years later,
the competition moves to the ice rink of Misurina Lake, a
sunny and more striking location, situated at the foot of
the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Mount Sorapis. The sport
discipline wins year after year an increasing share of audience, raising its prestige to such an extent as to result,
in 2002, the Cortina Winter Polo Gold Cup, the first stage
of the Audi Polo Gold Cup Circuit tournament which is
divided in three trials: the first has as location the Misurina Lake in winter; the spring one has the background
provided by Forte dei Marmi Beach Polo, the last one
the Rome Summer Polo - Duca D'Aosta Cup.
This sport is suitable for each season of the year; the
polo has its roots in the history of the times. First gained
the role as main pastime of Asian sovereigns before the
birth of Christ. There is also a second theory, however,
that sees the sport as a military training: Given the similarity between the bat hit and cleaves of a saber, some
scholars relate the polo to the training of the cavalry. In
the wake of this theory it is believed that the first game
was played in Persia in 600 BC and the participants were
Persian people against Turkish people.

La leggenda narra che Misurina fosse la bellissima e capricciosa
figlia di re Sorapis, sovrano delle terre comprese tra Tofane, Antelao, Marmarole e le Tre Cime di Lavaredo. L’anziano sovrano,
rimasto da poco vedovo, attribuiva l’indisponenza della piccola
alla mancanza della figura materna e per questo era ben disposto a perdonarle qualsiasi capriccio. Un giorno Misurina venne
a conoscenza dell’esistenza di una fata dotata di uno specchio
magico che permetteva di leggere i pensieri delle persone che
vi si riflettevano. La piccola principessa scongiurò a lungo il padre di procurarle lo specchio, tanto che alla fine cedette alle sue
richieste e la portò dalla fata. Restia a concedere il prezioso oggetto la fata propose uno scambio: lo specchio in cambio della
trasformazione di Sorapis in montagna. Misurina si mostrò ben
felice del sacrificio del padre ma, non appena la trasformazione
di Sorapis ebbe inizio, la Principessa precipitò dalla montagna.
Il sovrano assistette immobile alla fine dell’amata figlia e iniziò
a versare copiose lacrime che si trasformarono in ruscelli. I due
corpi si raccolsero a valle formando infine il Lago Misurina.

Sport pensato per ogni stagione dell’anno, il polo affonda le sue radici nella storia dei tempi. Inizialmente si afferma come passatempo principale dei sovrani
asiatici già prima della nascita di Cristo. C’è anche una
seconda teoria però che vede la pratica sportiva come
un allenamento militare: considerata la somiglianza tra
i colpi della mazza e i fendenti della sciabola, alcuni
studiosi ricollegano il polo all’allenamento della cavalleria. Sulla scia di questa teoria si ritiene che la prima
partita sia stata disputata in Persia nel 600 a.C. e che
abbia visto fronteggiarsi Persiani contro Turchi.

ra i generi musicali più apprezzati, il Blues si afferma
come archetipo della musica
popolare.
Nato tra il XIX e il XX sec., la sua
storia si svolge in parallelo con quella
dell’emancipazione del popolo africano.
Un calvario quello degli afroamericani
iniziato nel 1870, nella regione del delta
del Mississipi in Louisiana, quando i co-
lonizzatori dei nuovi territori avviarono
il commercio degli schiavi da impiegare
nella manodopera a basso costo. Una situazione di miseria che ha trovato sfogo
proprio nel canto: il blues per l’appunto.
Un inno di dolore, un inno di guerra e
di ribellione associata alla frase “to have
the blue devils” – letteralmente significa
“avere i diavoli blu”. Il termine, coniato
dai colonizzatori bianchi, aveva un’ac-
cezione negativa: associavano al blu
sentimenti come malinconia e tristezza,
chiaramente evocati dal canto lamentoso. Nonostante la dura repressione che
i bianchi esercitavano sul popolo nero –
gli impedivano persino di parlare nella
loro lingua d’origine, di suonare le percussioni, praticare danze e riti religiosi
– la vitalità del popolo trova sfogo nella

The birth of black music
A
mong the most popular genres of music, the blues is stated as an archetype of
popular music.
Born at the turn of the twentieth century, its story takes place in parallel with that
of the emancipation of the African people. An ordeal, the one of Afro – Americans, began in 1870, in the delta region of the Mississippi in Louisiana, when the settlers
of the new territories started the slave trade to be used in low-cost workforce. A situation
of poverty that has found its vent in the singing: precisely the blues. A hymn of sorrow, a
song of war and rebellion associated with the phrase "to have the blue devils". The term,

coined by the white settlers, had a negative
connotation: the blue associated feelings is
the melancholy and sadness, clearly evoked
by the plaintively singing. Despite the harsh
repression that whites carried out on black
people – even prevented them from speaking in their native language, to play the
drums, dancing and practicing religious rites

banjo, cordofono di origine africane
affermatosi durante il periodo della
Secessione. Confluisce nel blues anche
la tradizione degli spiritual, delle work
songs e dei ring-shout, non solo un genere musicale, ma la prova tangibile della
contaminazione di più culture: quella
americana, europea ed islamica con
quella africana.
Da questo momento in poi la popolarità
e la diffusione del genere sarà sempre in
continua crescita. Nel 1920 viene inciso
il primo brano blues su disco, Crazy blues
di Mamie Smith, tra gli anni ’30 e ’40 invece prende vita il blues rurale, elettrico, il boogie-woogie al rhythm&blues, il
blues jazzistico e il gospel. Gli anni ’50
sono invece il periodo d’oro del genere.
È in questo momento che la sua continua contaminazione permette di dar

the music born during this period: spirituals,
a union of black culture with religious precepts, the work songs, typical for the call
response form that served to lift the spirits,
and the ring-shout, a dance clandestinely
practiced accompanied by clapping and
syncopated rhythms with singing. The turning point and the full expression of the blues
arrive only in 1865, the year that marks the
end of the Civil War.
In this period the slaves were finally declared
free in the United States of America and the
genre sees its peak, largely driven by the introduction of new instruments. Among the
principal the guitar, banjo successor, chordophone of African origin became established
during the Secession. Also the blues tradition flows into the spirituals, work song and
the ring-shout, not just a music genre but the
most tangible evidence of cultural contamination: the American, European, Islamic and
African cultures.
From this moment on, the popularity and dif-
fusion of this genre will continuously grow. In
1920 it was recorded the first blues song on
disc, Crazy Blues by Mamie Smith, while between the 30s and 40s become famous the
rural blues, electric, the boogie-woogie, the
rhythm&blues, blues, the jazz blues and gospel. The 50s are the golden age of the genre.
It is at this time that its continue contamination can gives rise to the kinds of music that
today are at the top of the hit parade: rock
and roll, rock, soul, funk, punk, rap.

La ricotta di Pasolini, ma il film che preferisco è il capolavoro di Tarkovskji Andrej Rubliov che racconta otto momenti della vita
del famoso pittore di icone nato del 1370».

Il film utilizza una tecnica narrativa
non così usuale e si dedica ad affrontare
l’ispirazione del tutto pittorica data da
un dipinto. La tela scelta è opera proprio di Pieter Bruegel e porta il titolo
di Salita al Calvario. Una sorta di trasposizione su pellicola della raffigurazione
pittorica.
Majewski ricrea le centinaia di scene
che Bruegel rappresenta all’interno del
suo dipinto: da un’osservazione macroscopica l’immagine è ferma e fedele al
suo originale pittorico, ma quando la
macchina da presa si avvicina i personaggi si animano e raccontano un prima
e un dopo che la tecnica pittorica può

«S
ince ever, when I go to Venice I stand in room 10
of the Vienna Museum, the one of Bruegel – said
the Polish video artist Lech Majewski, director of
the film The Mill and the Cross (2012) – Painter fantastic, humorous, philosophical, reminds me Fellini's Amarcord with
all the characters and the seven different perspectives used in the
Calvary. As well as the beloved The Tempest by Giorgione makes me
think of the scene in the park of Blow Up by Antonioni. The cinema
is the close relative of the painting, La Passione remind La ricotta by
Pasolini, but my favourite film is the masterpiece of Andrei Rublev
Tarkovskji that tells eight moments of the life of the famous painter
of icon born in 1370.
The film uses a narrative technique not so common and is dedicated
to address the pictorial inspiration given by a painting. The chosen
painting is the work of Pieter Bruegel and bears the title of The way
to Calvary. A kind of transposition on film of the pictorial representation.
Majewski re-creates the hundreds of scenes that Bruegel represents
in his painting: from a macroscopic observation the image is steady
and loyal to the original painting but when the camera approaches,
the characters become alive and tell a “before” and a “after” that

zione e comprensione dell’opera pittorica realizzata intorno al
1564 dal pittore fiammingo.
La bellezza di un quadro come la Salita al Calvario di Bruegel è
grandiosa. Il maestro, seguendo quella che era una peculiarità
della pittura fiamminga, propone una rappresentazione affollata di personaggi, storie, piccoli racconti che spesso raffigurano con disarmante semplicità innumerevoli attimi di vita
quotidiana. Tutti insieme, questi micro racconti, compongono
in un’orchestrata coralità il più esteso racconto di carattere religioso. In questo caso specifico la salita al Calvario. Trovarsi
di fronte ad un quadro di Bruegel significa rimanere incantati,
quasi frastornati dal brulichio di corpi che ne affollano la tela.
Parte del segreto dell’opera di questo artista è sicuramente da rintracciare nella forte e ineludibile attrazione umana per il racconto.
Essere in una sala con un dipinto di Bruegel significa essere soggetti
ad una forza attrattiva tale da spingere chiunque a volersi avvicinare
e mettersi ad osservare i piccoli gesti, immediatamente riconoscibili
come appartenenti a qualcosa di molto vicino ad ognuno di noi.

fiamminga tra il XVI e il XVII secolo. Le opere esposte
sono state selezionate dalle collezioni del Kunsthistorisches Museum di Vienna, del Tel Aviv Museum
of Art, della Pinacoteca Ambrosiana di Milano e del
Museo di Capodimonte di Napoli.
Meraviglie dell’arte fiamminga è un percorso che
muove i suoi passi nelle Fiandre del Cinque e Seicento partendo dall’analisi di un principale concetto che
è la relazione tra Brueghel il Vecchio e Hieronymus
Bosch e spostandosi attraverso l’intreccio di vicende
parentali e l’evoluzione artistica dei suoi protagonisti. Oltre a Pieter Bruegel e Hieronymous Bosch, è
possibile ammirare opere di Pieter il Giovane , Jan il
Vecchio, Jan van Kessel I, David Teniers il Giovane e
Ambrosius Bruegel.

2nd a major exhibition dedicated to the Flemish art
between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

è un'espressione in lingua thai che bisogna assolutamente tener presente se si vuole provare
a capire questo straordinario paese. È mai pen
rai e la si sente in giro molto spesso, a Bangkok
come a Phuket. Difficile tradurla esattamente, ma significa
grosso modo "non preoccuparti", "tranquillo, va tutto bene".
La cosa sembra del tutto innocua, ma in certe circostanze
rischia di far crollare il mondo faticosamente eretto al dio
dell'efficienza e del determinismo dalla mentalità occidentale. "Oggi l'autobus non parte, partirà domani non preoccuparti", "Tranquillo, il pezzo di ricambio dell'auto arriverà

here is an expression, in Thai language, that you absolutely need to keep in mind if you want to try to understand this extraordinary country. It is mai pen rai and
you can hear it very often, as in Bangkok and in Phuket.
Difficult to have the exact translation, but basically it means
"don’t worry", "be calm, everything is all right." This seems completely harmless, but in some circumstances may bring down the
world laboriously erected to the god of efficiency and determinism of the Occidental mentality. "Today, the bus will not leave, it
will leave tomorrow, don’t worry", "Be calm, the spare part of the
car will arrive in two days, it's okay." Maybe someone from Rome,
Naples, Athens or Istanbul will easy get used to it, but someone
from Milan takes longer and someone from the German Cologne,
maybe, will never. And if you think that the problem derives only
from the fact that you don’t have almond- eyes, you should go
talk to the managers of a Japanese company that, in order to do
not become crazy, had completely rethink their production processes to ensure that a factory in Thailand worked well. The fact is
that mai pen rai is the verbalized form of a specific philosophy of
life, a way of living the existence with the levity of those who think
that it is better to smile even to the adversities, to take things as
they come without worrying too much of what is difficult in our
power to change. It is something similar to what the British call,
without barely believing in it, "take it easy". This expression is
strongly linked to the concept of sanuk, also derived from Bud-

funzionasse. Il fatto è che mai pen rai è la forma verbalizzata
di una precisa filosofia di vita, di un modo di intendere l'esistenza con la levità di chi pensa sia meglio sorridere anche di

cosa non lo è: passeggiare, chiacchierare con un amico, andare a una festa è sanuk, lavorare è mai sanuk. Non è che i
thailandesi non vogliano lavorare, è solo che anche nel lavoro
deve esserci un po' di divertimento, di interesse, altrimenti la
vita sarebbe scialba e priva di gioia. E allora perché non pensare a un viaggio che, senza dimenticare le spiagge tropicali
e le meraviglie del mare, offra la possibilità di assorbire un
po' della filosofia thai, un "elogio alla lentezza" per dirla con
Kundera. Si va a nord, dunque, e dopo una doverosa visita a
Bangkok e ai suoi splendidi edifici, la strada porta a Ayutthaya, l'antica capitale. Lo scenario è emozionante. La città
dei Buddha si trova su un’isola alla confluenza di tre fiumi,
dove in un parco che è stato dichiarato Patrimonio dell’Umanità dall’Unesco, si trovano alcuni dei templi più antichi e
imponenti della Thailandia: il Wat Raja Burana, il Wat Phra
Mahatat, il Wat Phanan Choeng e i tre grandi stupa del Wat
Phra Sri Sanphet, il più bello. Il ruolo
istituzionale è rappresentato dal Bang

molto alla testa di un elefante. E forse
non c'è un altro paese sulla Terra che
abbia un legame così stretto con un
animale. L'elefante qui non è solo legato
spiritualmente al Buddha, al lavoro in
foresta o, anticamente, all'arte della
guerra, ma anche particolari risvolti di
coesione nazionale. Si crede infatti che
il destino di una reggenza regale sia
intimamente connesso al numero di
chang puak ospitati a palazzo: più sono
più il sovrano assicurerà benessere e
felicità. Cosa sono i chang puak? Sono
i famosi elefanti bianchi di Thailandia,
rari esemplari albini che i sovrani del
Siam hanno in enorme rispetto. Tuttavia
nemmeno in Thailandia la convivenza
fra uomo ed elefante ha portato a un'isola
felice. Questo splendido animale rischia
infatti l'estinzione e l'arretramento della
foresta, il suo habitat naturale, non può
essere compensato solo dall'istituzione pur
lodevole di un Parco Nazionale.
Per secoli l'elefante è stato impiegato per i
lavori più pesanti e sottoposto a una grande
pressione ambientale. Resta il fatto però
che osservare il rapporto che si instaura fra
l'animale e il suo conduttore – il mahout –
desta una grande impressione, soprattutto
nel rito del bagno, quando decine di
elefanti si dirigono al fiume e, con grande
soddisfazione, vengono innaffiati, lavati e
strigliati dai loro piccoli padroni. Singolare è
senz'altro una versione di Polo che si gioca
solo in Thailandia e Nepal: due squadre di
4 giocatori che si affrontano sul campo con
le stesse regole del Polo ma a cavallo
di elefanti. Il torneo si disputa solo una
volta all’anno nella cittadina balneare di
Huahin, a 65 km a sud di Petchanburi.

connected to the number of chang Puak hosted in the palace:

famous white elephants of Thailand, rare albino specimens
that the sovereings of Siam respect. However, even in Thailand,
the coexistence between man and elephant has not led to a
happy island. This beautiful animal runs the risk of extinction,
and the retreat of the forest, its natural habitat, cannot only be
compensated by the laudable institution of a National Park.
For centuries, the elephants were used for hard works and
subjected to a great environmental pressure. However,
observing the relationship established between the animal and
the handler - the mahout -, it raises a big impression, especially
in the ritual of bathing, when dozens of elephants make their
way to the river and, with great satisfaction, are watered, washed
and brushed by their young masters. Certainly is particular the
version of Polo that is played only in Thailand and Nepal: two
teams of four players facing each other on the field with the
same rules as the Polo but riding elephants. The competition is
held once a year in the seaside town of Hua Hin, 65 km south
of Petchanburi.

Since its first Spanish colonization, Panama has been a strategic
land for commercial passage, from the early 1900s with the construction of the Canal, the world transport has had a revolution:

Chi non conosce o non ha mai indossato un Panama?
Il cappello di paglia bianco è, infatti, uno dei copricapo più
famosi al mondo. Indossato dalle stelle del
cinema, è un must delle riviste di gossip
estivo: sulle pagine patinate in molti fanno sfoggio
di un cappello che più che un accessorio è divenuto uno status symbol. Non tutti
quelli che lo indossano conoscono però le origini decisamente modeste del Panama. Al
contrario di quanto il nome potrebbe far credere, il Panama non è originario del paese di
cui porta il nome, bensì nasce in Ecuador. Prodotto esclusivamente con le foglie essiccate
della Curdovica Palmata, palmizio che si trova solamente sulle coste dell’Ecuador, viene
prodotto artigianalmente dai contadini di questo paese. Le foglie vengono cotte, lasciate
asciugare al vento e poi selezionate per procedere all’intreccio. A completamento
dell’elaborazione dell’intreccio è la cosiddetta azocada: rifinitura che stringe e chiude il
margine della falda. Lavaggio e sbiancamento sono le ultime fasi prima di modellare il
cappello per conferirgli la sua classica forma.
Ma perché questo nome, se la produzione è da sempre un’esclusiva dell’Ecuador? A cavallo
tra il XIX e il XX secolo migliaia di cappelli di questo tipo vennero importati dall’Ecuador
a Panama per tutti gli operai chiamati alla costruzione del canale. La popolarità tra i ceti
più abbienti è stata avviata da un episodio che ha coinvolto il Presidente degli Stati Uniti:
Theodore Roosvelt, durante l’inaugurazione del canale avvenuta nel 1906, indossava il
cappello Panama come testimonia una storica foto dell’epoca.

it, know the origins of the certainly modest Panama. Contrary to what the name might
suggest, Panama does not originate in the country of the same name, but it was born in
Ecuador. Produced exclusively from the dried leaves of Curdovica Palmata, palm tree that
grows only on the coast of Ecuador, is handmade produced by the farmers of this country.
The leaves are cooked, let it dry in the wind, and then selected to continue the twine.
To complete the development of the twine is the so-called azocada: finishing element
that tightens and closes the margin of the brim. Washing and bleaching are the last steps
before shaping the hat to give it the classic form.

burger il loro piatto forte. Niente filosofia da fast food, ma rivisitazione della ricetta in chiave bio e una presentazione del piatto
ricercata.
L’hamburger si spoglia delle vesti pop di alimento per tutti per
ammantarsi di un’aura di maggior classe, che lo vede arricchito
dalla qualità degli ingredienti genuini, dal tocco raffinato di salse
sapientemente orchestrate, dal pregio di produttori doc. Roma è
una delle città in cui il fenomeno ha preso più piede e dove è possibile trovare alcuni locali eccellenti che propongono questo piatto. Uno
di questi è l’Open Baladin in zona Campo de’ Fiori, che offre la migliore carne piemontese accompagnata da un fragrante pane del Forno
Roscioli – dirimpettaio dell’Open Baladin –, guanciale di cinta senese

Ma da dove ha origine il caro vecchio hamburger?
Secondo una delle numerose supposizioni, antenato
del burger è il Bitok, di provenienza tartara: scarti di
macellazione misti fatti a polpetta, grigliati o fritti,
venivano accompagnati da cipolle agrodolci. Il Bitok
si diffuse molto tra gli ebrei russi, per poi passare a
popolazioni turco-armene. Grazie all’estrema mobilità di queste minoranze, il piatto fu esportato anche in
Europa, specialmente in quelle zone di forte transito
come il porto di Amburgo. E questo spiega poi anche
l’origine del nome.
Per la nostra ricetta consigliamo di utilizzare unicamente prodotti del territorio italiano, verificando la
provenienza da allevamenti controllati. Suggeriamo,
per le verdure e il pane, di acquistare le materie prime da uno dei tanti piccoli produttori che fanno della qualità e del rispetto della natura il loro principio
etico. Per l’hamburger quindi un ottimo macinato di
Fassona, la più pregiata qualità di carne piemontese.
Arrostite l’hamburger sulla piastra in ghisa antiaderente. Un minuto prima di togliere la carne dalla piastra, accostare i due pezzi di panino per farle diventare

croccanti. Nel frattempo avrete tagliato il pomodoro e la toma a fette sottili e preparato la salsa maionese fatta in casa.
Spalmare un po’ di salsa sulla fetta inferiore del panino e inserire
uno strato di pomodoro, una foglia di lattuga, un paio di anelli di
cipolla di tropea, la toma e infine la carne. Chiudere il panino e avvolgerlo nella carta stagnola. Mettere l’Hamburger nella pressa per
panini e far scaldare per un paio di minuti: sufficienti a far sciogliere
il formaggio.

toma cheese into thin slices and you have
already prepared the mayonnaise sauce
homemade.
Spread a little sauce on the bottom slice of
the sandwich and place a layer of tomato, a
leaf of lettuce, a couple of rings of red onion, the toma cheese and finally the meat.
Close the sandwich in the wrap in aluminum foil. Place the burgers in the press
plate for sandwiches and let it warm up for
a few minutes, enough to melt the cheese.
It will be difficult to come back to the fast
food sandwich!

la storia dell'aristocratica

per sfuggire al matrimonio, ormai infelice, con l'alto funzionario statale
Alexei Karenin (interpretato da Jude Law). Anna abbandonerà il tetto coniugale per vivere la sua storia d'amore con l'amante, ma dopo la nascita

Interamente girato in un teatro, sconvolgendo l'originale
di Tolstoj, il film pecca di manierismo, nonostante la voglia del regista di rimodernare la storia. Le interpretazioni
sono a volte troppo caricate, a volte eccessivamente inespressive, e il giudizio complessivo della pellicola è un po'
scadente nonostante l'alto livello cui Joe Wright ci aveva
abituato.

Wright after Pride and Prejudice and Atonement. This time will
tread the boards in the role of Anna Karenina remake film of the
novel written by Lev Tolstoj, accompanied by Jude Law,
Kelly Macdonald and Aaron Johnson. Published for the
first time in 1877, the novel tells the story of the aristocratic
Anna and her relationship with the superficial Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson), an army officer, to escape from the
marriage, already unhappy, with the state senior official
Alexei Karenin (played by Jude Law). Anna will leave the
marital home to live her love affair with her lover, but after
the birth of her daughter, the exclusion from the high society world in which she used to live, everything will turn
into tragedy. «I read the novel when I was teenager, and
I remember it as the most romantic story of all time. In
re-read the story and I realized that Anna is a woman balanced between the heroine and her negative opposite»,
said Keira Knightley during the official presentation of the
film.
Entirely shot in a theatre, upsetting the original of Tolstoy,
the film suffers from mannerism, despite the director ‘s
desire to modernize the story. Sometimes the interpretations are too loaded, sometimes too inexpressive, and
the overall judgement of the film is a bit poor despite the
high level that Joe Wright always has.

Cries Mary, Foxy Lady and Purple Haze – all

Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione Europea ha adottato nuove
regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi che
possono essere introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole
si applicano nei confronti tutti i passeggeri in partenza
dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il
relativo bagaglio a mano devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi.
Comunque, le nuove regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere
acquistati presso gli esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di
viaggio od a bordo di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti
dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali modifiche.
To protect you against the new threat of liquid explosives, the European Union (EU)
introduced new security rules to limit the amount of liquids that you can take through
security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from EU airports to all
destinations.
This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage must be inspected for liquids screening in addition to other prohibited articles. However, the new rules
do not limit the liquids that you can buy at shops located beyond the checkpoints.
The new rules are in force as to Monday 6th November 2006 at all airports in the EU
and in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland until further notice.

Tutti i dispositivi elettronici, inclusi i telefoni cellulari,
dovranno essere tenuti spenti per le fasi di rullaggio,
decollo ed atterraggio. Durante il volo e’ invece
consentito l’utilizzo di lettori CD, DVD, MP3,
videogiochi e computer portatili verificando che
abbiano la connessione wireless disattivata. I telefoni
cellulari potranno essere utilizzati, esclusivamente durante
la fase di crociera, solo se la modalita’ “In-volo” è
stata precedentemente impostata a terra.
All electronic devices, including mobile phones, must be switched off whenever
the “fasten seat sign” is on for taxi, take off and landing. During the cruise phase
the use of cd, dvd, mp3 player, videogames and portable computer is permitted
as long as the wireless connection is disabled. Mobile phones can be used, when
airborne, only if the “in-flight mode” has been selected on ground.
Jet Lag
Il vostro “orologio biologico” può a volte non gradire i cambi di fuso legati al viaggio aereo: senso di affaticamento,
difficoltà a prendere sonno e riduzione dell’appetito sono
tra i sintomi più comuni. Per minimizzare l’impatto di tale fenomeno, si consiglia di dormire bene la notte prima del volo
e di mantenere le proprie “lancette biologiche” sull’orario di
casa se la permanenza nel luogo di destinazione non dovesse
superare i due giorni. In caso di una permanenza più prolungata, è opportuno
adeguarsi il prima possibile all’orario locale e attenersi a regole di vita salutari,
tenendo presente che il recupero degli effetti “jet lag” è generalmente più rapido
se si viaggia con direzione ovest e più lento con direzione est.
Sometimes you “biological clock” may not welcome the time changes involved
in air travel and it finds ways of letting you know about this. Some of the most
common symptoms are a sense of weariness, difficulty in falling asleep at night
and appetite loss. To minimize jet lag effects, make sure you get a good night
sleep before leaving and, if you plan to stay abroad less than two days, keep you
biological clock set on your home time (i.e. keep your regular eating and sleeping
habits). In the event of a longer trip, it is advisable to get used to local time as
soon as possible and to conduct a regular and healthy life. Remember that getting over jet lag is generally quicker when travelling westwards than eastwards.

To help you feel better when you fly with us, just follow these tips and suggestions
designed to enhance your well being on board
Stare a lungo seduti in una stessa posizione può farvi sentire a disagio sull’aereo. Sgranchitevi gambe e
braccia ogni due ore circa. Alzatevi di tanto in tanto
e camminate su e giù per il corridoio oppure fate i
semplici esercizi* di stretching illustrati per prevenire
problemi circolatori.
Prolonged sitting in a fixed position can make you feel
uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch
your arms and legs or carry out some easy exercises*
suggested below.
Consumate pasti leggeri, mangiate con moderazione
e limitare bevande gassate, tè e caffè.
Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy
drinks, tea and coffee.
Moderate il consumo di bevande alcoliche, poiché
queste sono assorbite più facilmente dal corpo ad alta
quota a causa della bassa pressione dell’aria all’interno della cabina.
Moderate your intake of alcohol.
In caso di permanenza prolungata a bordo è consigliato sostituire le lenti a contatto con degli occhiali
per evitare irritazioni oculari. Togliete sempre le lenti
a contatto prima di dormire.
In case of a long flight it is recommended to wear eyeglasses rather than contact lenses. Remove contact
lenses before sleeping.
*Vi suggeriamo di sospendere immediatamente questi esercizi se
causano dolore o disagio.
Bevete molta acqua naturale, meglio se in piccole
quantità e spesso.
Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.

Start the exercise by sitting in comfortably in your
seat in an upright position.
Poggiate entrambi i piedi sul pavimento. Flettete i
piedi puntando i talloni in su e poi in giù. Ripetete per
cinque volte.
Rest both feet on the floor. Flex both feet with toes
pointing upward, then point your toes downward
Perform this exercise five times.

Sollevate dolcemente il ginocchio verso il busto per
alcuni secondi, poi lasciatelo andare, poggiando
nuovamente il piede sul pavimento. Fate lo stesso
con l’altra gamba. Ripetete cinque volte per gamba.
Raise you knee gently towards the chest for a few
seconds and then release, placing your feet back on
the floor. Continue with the other leg. Repeat five
times for each leg.
Mettete le mani sotto una coscia e sollevatele dolcemente verso il busto. Ruotate la caviglia in modo
circolare per 5 secondi. Ripetete con l’altra gamba.
Ripetete questo esercizio cinque volte per gamba.
Place your hands under one thigh, and gently lift toward your chest. Rotate your ankle in a circular motion for 5 seconds. Repeat with the other leg. Perform
this exercise five times with both legs.
