Extracts taken from “Una Buona Idea” (A
Good Idea), a poem by Ketty La Rocca
published in the summer edition of
Letteratura in 1966:
I feel my skin tight (dehydrated, I think)
it needs an anti-wrinkle, fluid
and light cream
I will undoubtedly get a good idea
the velvet moisture delicate and fresh
film makes the skin like dew (…)
White and splendid goes the bride
have an ice-cream dear
with cream and cherry
I’ll have a coffee and a record
you have to eat ice-cream slowly
to have that bored, seductive air (…)
There on the altar she goes crying
Then a real lady always nibbles
her glasses a little
But never sucks her ice-cream (…)
In order to be accompanied by a man
not legitimately linked to her by the bonds
of marriage, the judge decrees:
a) clean you ethics with new perboratex
b) freeze your hormones in the freezer
c) make yourself available
for legitimate intercourse
d) frequent the parish assiduously
e) feel the beat of the domestic hearth
f) lower your eyes when a man looks at you
g) honour your father and mother and
husband in accordance with the laws of the
State of S.R.C (…)
Mi sento la pelle tirata (disidratata, penso)
ci vuole una crema fluida e leggera
antirughe
mi verrà senz’altro una buona idea
la velva moisture film delicata e fresca
rende la pelle una rugiada (…)
Bianca e splendente va la novia
prendi un gelato cara con panna e ciliegia
io un caffè e un disco
il gelato è necessario mangiare lentamente
per avere quella seducente aria annoiata
(…)
Là sull’altar lei va piangendo
poi una vera signora mordicchia sempre un
po’ gli occhiali
ma non succhia il gelato (…)
Per essersi accompagnata ad un uomo
a lei non legittimamente unito da vincolo
matrimoniale, il pretore decreta:
a) detergere l’etica col nuovo perboratex
b) surgelare nel freezer gli ormoni
c) rendersi disponibile all’amplesso
legittimo
d) frequentare assiduamente la parrocchia
e) sentire il papito del focolare domestico
f) a vista d’uomo abbasare lo sguardo
g) onorare il padre la madre e il coniuge
secondo le leggi dello Stato di S.R.C (…)
