Gli uomini sudcoreani sono i nuovi
consumatori di cosmetici
È un trend che stona con l'idea occidentale di
mascolinità e genere, tuttavia gli uomini
coreani spendono grosse somme di denaro
per migliorare l'aspetto della loro pelle e la
loro apparenza. Gli uomini sudcoreani sono
infatti i maggiori consumatori pro capite al
mondo di prodotti per la cura della pelle, con
una spesa quattro volte superiore rispetto ai
danesi, i secondi in classifica secondo
Euromonitor. L'industria cosmetica vale più di
un miliardo di dollari, con proiezioni di
crescita di circa il 50 percento nei prossimi
cinque anni.

Why South Korea's men are buying tons
of cosmetics
It's a trend that clashes with Western ideas
about masculinity and gender, but Korean men
are spending a ton of money on cosmetic
products in order to improve their skin and
appearance. South Korean men are the world's
top
per-capita
consumers
of
skincare
products, with four times the purchases of
runner-up Denmark, according to Euromonitor.
The grooming industry is worth more than $1
billion, with projected growth of nearly 50
percent over the next five years.

Concluso l'iter dell'accordo di libero
scambio EU-Corea del Sud
Il Concilio dei Ministri Europei ha concluso il
mese scorso l'iter dell'accordo di libero
scambio tra l'Unione Europea e la Corea del
Sud. La Corea del Sud è il decimo mercato
dell'export Europeo, e l'Unione Europea
rappresenta il quarto mercato per l'economia
sudcoreana. La maggioranza dei dazi sulle
importazioni sono state rimosse a luglio 2011,
quando le due parti hanno deciso di
rimuovere il 98,7% dei dazi entro 5 anni. Il
primo luglio 2016, i dazi saranno eliminati su
tutti i prodotti ad eccezione di alcuni prodotti
agricoli.

Concluded
The EU Council OF Ministers adopted Thursday
a decision concluding the EU's free trade
agreement with South Korea. South Korea is
the EU's tenth-largest partner for exports and
the EU is South Korea's fourth-largest partner
for exports. The majority of import duties
were removed in July 2011, as the two parties
committed to eliminate 98.7 percent of duties
in trade value within five years. On 1 July
2016, import duties will be eliminated on all
products except for a limited number of
agricultural products.

point that one of the leading Tuscany's
producers is about to open a branch in South
Korea. The historical Firenze's gelato place
"Perché no!" will soon open a store in the
Gangnam area of Seoul, as was announced by
Firenze's main functionary for economic
development Giovanni Bettarini and the
master "gelataio" Ciro Cammilli..

televisione. Giunta a Seoul 9 anni fa, è

della tv nazionale coreana, e partecipando in
seguito a spot e altre trasmissioni. Accanto
all'attività televisiva è responsabile del
Yeoksam Global Village Center, una istituzione
che fornisce una serie di servizi di aiuto alla
comunità straniera di Seul.

Economy Flashes Signs of Revival
South Korea may be turning a corner. After
months of gloom, recent data is hinting that
the $1.4 trillion economy is beginning to
emerge from a slump brought on by China’s
slowest growth in 25 years and the outbreak
of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or
MERS, in May. Investors are warming up,
too: Shares in technology giant Samsung
Electronics Co. jumped the most in more
than six years on Oct. 7 after earnings
soared 80 percent in the September quarter.
That performance beat estimates and raised
hopes of a renewal in demand for the
nation’s world-class technology.

Sales in Europe
Kia Motors announced on October 19 that it
sold 95,102 units in Europe in the third
quarter of this year, the highest quarterly
result in its history there. According to the
European
Automobile
Manufacturers’
Association, Kia Motors’ third-quarter sales in
Europe rose 9.7 percent compared to 86,717
units a year ago.

Hyundai and Kia Motors Top 10 Rank at
Consumer Report’s Reliability Survey
Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors announced on
October 21 that they both joined the top-ten
rank in the reliability survey conducted by
America’s Consumer Report. According to the
2015 annual car reliability survey, released by
the U.S. consumer magazine on October 20,
Kia Motors ranked No. 6, and Hyundai Motor
No. 9. Their ranks moved up by four notches
each compared to a year ago. In particular,
Kia Motors gained the highest rank in its
history, being selected as one of the most
reliable seven car brands.

La crescita economica sudcoreana ha toccato
il picco degli ultimi cinque anni nel terzo
trimestre di
quest'anno,
superando le
aspettative. L'economia nazionale è infatti
cresciuta del 2,6% nel terzo trimestre rispetto
allo stesso periodo dell'anno precedente.
Rispetto al secondo trimestre, la crescita è
stata dell'1,2%, rappresentando il risultato
migliore dal 2010.

South Korean economic growth hit a five-year
high in the third quarter of the year, coming in
ahead of estimates. The country's economy
grew 2.6% in the three months to September
over the same period the previous year. From
the second quarter, growth was up 1.2%,
marking the biggest jump since 2010.

Il volume degli import del caffè in Corea
raggiungerà probabilmente un nuovo record
quest'anno, nonostante la recessione e l'indice
della fiducia dei consumatori che rimane
stabile. Secondo le statistiche della dogana
coreana del 25 Ottobre, il volume totale degli
import di caffè tra Gennaio e Settembre ha
totalizzato 102.500 tonnellate, con una
crescita del 3,2 percento sullo stesso periodo

Korea Ranks No. 6 in the World in Coffee
Consumption
The volume of coffee bean imports will likely
hit a record-high level this year, despite the
continuing recession and the frozen consumer
sentiment.
According
to
export-import
statistics of the Korea Customs Service
released on October 25, the total volume of
coffee imports for the nine-month period
between January and September this year was
102,500 tons, up 3.2 percent from the same
period last year (99,400 tons).
Dealmaking by South Korean companies has
hit a new high this year as the need for
conglomerates, such as Samsung and SK
Group, to realign their business portfolios
continues to drive billion-dollar mergers and
acquisitions. M&A activity in South Korea
stands at a record 885 deals worth $84.3bn in
the year to date — a 27 per cent increase on
the same period last year, according to
Dealogic. The total has already surpassed the
$84bn of deals recorded in 2014.

La produzione nazionale di auto è
aumentata dello 0,8%
Nonostante un periodo di stallo prolungato, la
produzione nazionale di auto in Corea ha
sperimentato un'inversione di tendenza in
Settembre rispetto allo stesso periodo
dell'anno precedente. Secondo l'Associazione
dei Costruttori d'Auto Coreani, la produzione
nazionale di auto ha totalizzato 3.319.053
unità nel periodo gennaio-settembre, con un
incremento dello 0,8% rispetto a un anno fa.
Fino al mese scorso, l'output della produzione
nazionale automobilistica era giù dello 0,4%
rispetto ad un anno prima; il cambiamento
positivo di Settembre può essere attribuito al
deciso aumento della produzione di Renault
Samsung.

Domestic Car Production Up 0.8% in
January-September
Despite a prolonged economic slump, Korea’s
domestic car production took a positive yearto-year turn in September. According to the
Korea Automobile Manufacturers’ Association
on October 28, the nation’s domestic car
production totaled 3,319,053 units in the
January-September period of this year, up 0.8
percent from a year ago. Until last month, the
nation’s domestic car output was down 0.4
percent compared to a year ago. The positive
turn in September is attributable to a sharp
increase in Renault Samsung’s production
volume.
