Il tema della legge naturale ricopre un ruolo di primo piano nella recente enciclica
Caritas in veritate di Benedetto XVI. Il testo rileva l'influsso dell'ideologia tecnocratica, che
fa della conoscenza scientifica l'unica fonte del sapere; la ragione, non più indirizzata alla
ricerca del vero, diviene incapace di radicare la condotta dell'uomo nella verità del suo
essere e di condurlo al suo bene autentico. Solo mediante il rispetto di questa verità, che
l'uomo scopre nella sua stessa natura, la carità, che è principio fondamentale dell'agire
individuale e sociale, può trovare un adeguato fondamento e condurre a uno sviluppo
umano integrale.
The topic of natural law plays an important role in the recent encyclical letter Caritas in
veritate by Benedict XVI. The text points out the influence of the technocratic ideology
which considers science as the only source of knowledge; reason, which is no longer
aimed to seek the truth, becomes unable to root man's behaviour in the truth of his self
and to lead him to his real good. Only by respecting this truth, that man finds in his own
nature, charity – which is the basic principle of individual and social behaviour – can find a
proper grounding and lead to an integral human development.
