Dall’antichità il seme di Dio ancora germoglia
nell’Arte e nel Vino, per il giubilo dell’Uomo,
con l’incanto del Vero, del Buono, del Bello.
I

radici antiche; ma anche la
gestazione del brand Art & Wine
è ormai annosa poichè cominciò
a germinare nella mia inconsapevolezza in un lontano pomeriggio
milanese del 1987, quando andai a
visitare il Museo Archeologico già

da sempre mi attraeva e che avevo
approfondito nello studio delle Baccanti di Euripide per l’esame di Storia
del Teatro all’Università Cattolica del
Sacro Cuore. Allora mai avrei pensato che sarei divenuto direttore artistico di uno spazio espositivo (Arte
nella grotta - Chiesa San Giuseppe di Alba) all’interno di un

brand also dates back many years
now, as it began to germinate in my
unconscious on an afternoon long ago
in Milan in 1987, when I went to visit
the Archaeological Museum formerly
in Corso Magenta. I had gone there
because I had always been attracted
by the figure of Dionysus after studying Euripedes’ The Bacchae for my
History of the Theatre exam at the
Sacred Heart Catholic University. At
the time I would never have imagined
I would become the artistic director of
an exhibition area (Art in the grotto Church of San Giuseppe in Alba) as part of a site displaying
the remains of a Roman theatre from the I Century A.D. And
never that there I would have organized an exhibition that in
my subconscious may well have started to take shape on that
visit. I was left spellbound by the Hellenistic ware, and in
particular by some Attic earthenware items with black or red
figures dating back to the VII Century B.C., among the first
examples of refined visual art (more than the previous Neolithic Chinese Majiayao ware rarely featuring figures and with
no such gaudy colours). Many of these vases decorated with
accounts of feats of divinity were actually used for wine:
the kantharos (a drinking cup with two high handles, often

tecniche a tempera, ad acquerello e olio. Sempre giovanissimo visita spesso la galleria La Lanterna di Novi
Ligure, diretta dal pittore chiarista (alla Lilloni) Carlo
Foglia, e a diciotto anni organizza la prima personale
nel suo paese. Avvia poi contatti con la scuola d’arte
La Favella di Milano; sono proprio gli ambienti milanesi a spingerlo alla sperimentazione di molte tecniche, oggi orientate alla manipolazione della materia, con l’utilizzo di legno, metallo, gesso ceramico e,
occasionalmente, anche zucchero e prodotti dolciari.
Ha realizzato importanti opere sacre a Pozzolo Formigaro e Novi Ligure (edicole votive, affreschi ecc)
ed il completo rifacimento dell’impianto decorativo
interno della chiesa di San Marcello Papa di Bettole
gli è valso una medaglia d’oro donata dal Vescovo di
Tortona, monsignor Martino Canessa. Ha esposto in
molti spazi pubblici, gallerie e fiere d’arte nazionali.

the studio of
his painter
and sculptor
friend Mario
Leveni, from whom he learnt tempera, watercolour
and oil techniques. As a young boy he often used
to visit the La Lanterna gallery in Novi Ligure run by
the Lilloni-style chiarista painter Carlo Foglia, and
at eighteen he organized the first one-man show
in his town. Contacts with the La Favella art school
in Milan began, and this led to his experimenting
many techniques which are now focused on working
matter, using wood, metal, ceramic plaster, and occasionally sugar and confectionery. He has painted
important sacred works in Pozzolo Formigaro and
Novi Ligure (votive shrines, frescoes etc), and the
complete reworking of the interior decoration of
the Church of San Marcello Papa di Bettole earned
him a gold medal awarded by the Bishop of Tortona, monsignor Martino Canessa. He has shown in
many public venues, galleries and national art fairs.

organizzato esposizioni ed iniziative per valorizzare la
produzione dell’artista alessandrino, alcune anche con
finalità filantropiche e sociali per l’aiuto ai sofferenti.

panoramas would prove to be all-important for his painting,
because they would gradually become his favourite subject,
leading to his opening a studio in Bossolasco too to paint
the typical personalities of the Langhe, such as the trifolau
(truffle-hunter in the local dialect). In July 1970 he showed
at the Guelfi gallery in Montecatini Terme, which published
various monographs and a folder of silk-screens presented
by Giovanni Arpino, and curated his personal exhibitions in
many venues. In 2008 the “Maestro Guido Botta – Painter
of the Langhe” Cultural Association was founded. Presided
over by his cousin Anna Luisa Sacchi, and with his wife Maria Elena Grimaldi as honorary president, the Association
has organized exhibitions and initiatives to promote the
production of this artist from Alessandria, some with social
and philanthropic goals to help the suffering and needy.

paesaggistica dal vero che la vede prescelta come unica
acquerellista a rappresentare il Piemonte al “Nastro
Verde d’Europa”. Dal 1984 ha fatto della pittura una
professione, con l’insegnamento, l’organizzazione di
eventi artistici, la partecipazione a circa 400 mostre e la
stretta collaborazione con una galleria svizzera che ha
fatto incetta dei suoi acquerelli. Nel 2007 fonda il Museo dell’Acquerello a Montà d’Alba. Quindi restaura i
dipinti delle semiali inferiori del velivolo storico “Ansaldo A1 Balilla” del 1918, ora esposto al Museo Storico
di Bergamo. Significative le sue opere visibili nel Museo
del Pastello di Lequio Berria. Un suo dipinto è in mostra
permanente anche in Egitto: a Luxor, dove fu invitata ad
esporre dall’Associazione Artistico Culturale d’Europa.

their ateliers.
After taking
painting lessons
from various
masters when
young, she began showing in 1971. In 1977 she took up watercolours
with Guido Bertello, concentrating first on figures and
then from 1982 on real life landscapes, in which she
was chosen as the only watercolourist to represent Piedmont in the “European Green Ribbon”. Since 1984 she
has made painting her profession, teaching, organizing
artistic events, taking part in around 400 shows, and
working closely with a Swiss gallery which has cornered the market in her watercolours. In 2007 she set up
the Watercolour Museum in Montà d’Alba, and she has
restored the paintings of the lower wings of the historic 1918 “Ansaldo A1 (Balilla)” aircraft now on display
in the History Museum in Bergamo. Significant works
of hers can be seen in the Museum of Pastels in Lequio
Berria, and she also has a painting on permanent display in Luxor in Egypt, where she was invited to do a
show by the European Cultural Artistic Association.

della manifestazione “Il Cavalletto 2008“ di Torino
con il quadro “Al Valentino sotto il cielo d’autunno”.
Ottiene quindi il 2° premio nella sezione tecnica
mista al concorso “Premio Internazionale di Arte
Moderna e Contemporanea - Citta’ di Padova 2009”.
Nel suo fitto curriculum vanta esposizioni in tutto
