In the coming years we can say, nephews, relatives and
friends, they were the protagonists of two important events:
the centenary of Ian Lancaster Fleming, celebrated in May
2008, and the fiftieth anniversary of the James Bond saga.
The myth will be celebrated with all the honors of "Le
Cercle the Italian club of James Bond" with a trip to
London, to coincide with the first of Skyfall (October 26),

Lancaster Fleming, celebrato nel Maggio 2008, e il cinquantesimo anniversario della saga di James Bond. Il mito verrà celebrato con tutti gli
onori da “Le Cercle il club italiano di James Bond” con un viaggio a
Londra , in concomitanza della prima di Skyfall (26 Ottobre), dove si
potrà, per un weekend, diventare come James Bond visitando alcune
delle più belle location dei suoi film. Buon compleanno James!
Un mito inossidabile dal 1962, un eroe che ha superato crisi economiche di ogni tipo, a volte cavalcando le mode a suo uso e consumo, affascinando uomini, donne, ragazzi e bambini, mantenendo però inalterato nel tempo il suo stile inimitabile, senza mai prendere le distanze dalle sue origini: i romanzi di Ian Fleming.
Per conoscere nel profondo chi è il Comandante Bond, bisogna leggerne le sue gesta nei libri, per scoprirne i suoi tanti lati oscuri, dove
l’ironia tanto sbandierata al cinema ha uno spazio molto limitato, e
l’eleganza viene spesso utilizzata per portare a termine la sua missione. Immergersi nel mondo dello 007 letterario significa farsi entusiasmare da avventura, location esotiche, bellissime donne e drammaticità. Lo si può fare iniziando a leggere “Casino Royal” del 1953, passando inevitabilmente per la trilogia della Spectre; “Thunderball,
Operazione tuono”, “Si vive solo due Volte”, e “Al servizio segreto di
sua Maestà”, fino al famosissimo “Dalla Russia con amore”, che ebbe
tra i suoi celebri lettori anche il Presidente John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
Fleming scrisse dei veri e propri best seller spionistici, imitatissimi e irraggiungibili ancor oggi per inventiva e narrazione.
E poi, chi è il miglior James Bond? La risposta è disarmante: nessuno.
Tutti gli attori che hanno avuto l’onore e il privilegio di affiancare indissolubilmente, il loro nome ad un film della spia segreta più famosa del
mondo, ha dato la sua unicità al personaggio. Sicuramente Sean
Connery è ricordato come il migliore, essendo stato il primo, ma lo
stesso George Lazenby, spesse volte lasciato in disparte, ha dalla sua,
il più bello, se non il più appassionante film della saga, “Al servizio segreto di sua Maestà”; Sir Roger Moore, portò alle serie quella ventata
di ironia e leggerezza voluta dal pubblico degli anni 70’, Timothy
Dalton fu un meraviglioso ma sfortunato esperimento di un Bond alla
Ian Fleming, Pierce Brosnan rilanciò con l’eleganza di Brioni negli abiti
del Maestro Angelo Petrucci, il Bond delle origini, emozionando per
fascino e bellezza; Daniel Craig ha raccolto l’eredità di ogni grande interprete, con una bravura interpretativa eccezionale, riportando il
pubblico a rivedere il James Bond dei romanzi in chiave moderna;
quasi un risarcimento per il buon Dalton, bocciato all’epoca dalla critica e dagli stessi fan. Molte persone mi continuano a chiedere perché
mi piace tanto 007; la risposta è sempre la stessa: Non ti piacerebbe
viaggiare in ogni angolo del mondo, guidando un Aston Martin, vestendoti con abiti sartoriali e frequentando belle donne?
Non ho ancora trovato nessuno che ha storto il naso!
James Bond è il sogno di poter vivere una vita piena di avventura, di
eccitanti missioni in bilico tra la vita e la morte; Il Mondo non basta,
qualcuno disse, ma a noi non bastano ventitré film, sei straordinari attori e cinquant’anni di successi, vogliamo continuare ad alimentare

We must reflect on how much of the entertainment industry
is based on the early sixties. After half a century we still hear
and celebrate the Beatles, and outputs a Martin Scorsese
film about George Harrison and one of George Epstein of
John Lennon. The Rolling Stones are seeking to organize a
concert celebrating their fifty years. Among the most successful comics in Italy there is always Diabolik, published since
1962. In recent years the phenomenon has exploded in the
cinema of the Marvel superheroes, mostly based on characters created between 1961 and 1963 (other than Captain
America, forties hero revived in 1964). And of course we are
waiting for Skyfall, the film of the fiftieth anniversary of the
James Bond film. In reality, the agent 007 has roots that go
back twenty years to the birth on the screen: his creator Ian
Fleming had begun to think of Casino Royale and was the secret agent during the war, when - at least according to legend
- at Casino Estoril in Portugal defied a Nazi spy at the baccarat table ... and lost the game. And it was in 1952 that
Fleming began writing the novel, which shows influences of
the noir fiction of the thirties and forties. But the film version
of James Bond is definitely linked to the sixties. The 007 played by Sean Connery and recreated by director Terence
Young (although the film is that triggers Bondmania
Goldfinger directed by Guy Hamilton, who will return in the
seventies with Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die) is

deliberately cynical , ironic and less troubled than the novels,

basa sui primi anni Sessanta. Dopo mezzo secolo si ascoltano e celebrano ancora i Beatles, e sono in uscita un film di Martin Scorsese su
George Harrison e uno di George Epstein su John Lennon.
I Rolling Stones cercano di organizzarsi per un concerto celebrativo
dei loro cinquant’anni.
Tra i fumetti di maggior successo in Italia c’è sempre Diabolik, pubblicato dal 1962. Negli ultimi anni è esploso al cinema il fenomeno dei
supereroi Marvel, basato su personaggi in gran parte ideati tra il 1961
e il 1963 (a parte Capitan America, eroe anni Quaranta riportato in
vita nel 1964). E naturalmente siamo in attesa di Skyfall, la pellicola del
cinquantennale cinematografico di James Bond.
In realtà l’agente 007 ha radici che vanno indietro di vent’anni rispetto
alla nascita sullo schermo: il suo creatore Ian Fleming aveva cominciato a pensare a Casinò Royale mentre faceva l’agente segreto durante
la guerra, quando – almeno secondo la leggenda – al casinò dell’Estoril
in Portogallo sfidò una spia nazista al tavolo del baccarà... e perse la
partita. Ed è nel 1952 che Fleming comincia a scrivere il romanzo, che
mostra influenze della narrativa noir degli anni Trenta e Quaranta. Ma
la versione cinematografica di James Bond è decisamente legata agli
anni Sessanta.
Lo 007 interpretato da Sean Connery e ricreato dal regista Terence
Young (anche se il film che scatena la Bondmania è Missione
Goldfinger, diretto da Guy Hamilton, che tornerà negli anni Settanta
con Una cascata di diamanti e Vivi e lascia morire) è volutamente più
cinico, ironico e meno tormentato di quello dei romanzi, pur conser-
vando il dualismo tra voglia sfrenata di vivere e frequentazione con la
morte che caratterizza le storie originali; insieme allo spirito di sacrificio che gli permettere di sopportare difficili prove fisiche pur di portare a termine la propria missione.
Lo 007 di Connery è decisamente la proiezione delle ambizioni dell’uomo occidentale (e dei desideri della donna occidentale) degli anni
Sessanta, epoca di un diffuso boom economico che fa dimenticare gli
orrori della guerra e il grigiore del dopoguerra. Pur non essendo
ricco, Bond vive da playboy, guida belle macchine e gioca nei casinò,
viaggia in jet fino a luoghi esotici, dove beve martini e champagne; è
elegante, virile, ha un comportamento sessuale disinibito con donne
altrettanto disinibite. Persino le musiche creano uno stile caratteristico
tipicamente anni Sessanta.
In questa interpretazione di 007 si pongono tuttavia i germi del tradi-

Moonraker-Operazione Spazio, entrambi basati sulla formula di Si

Nei film anni Ottanta di John Glen sia con Roger Moore sia con
Timothy Dalton ogni tanto ritorna lo spionaggio più classico, ma l’incertezza tra spy-story e fantafumetto autoironico d’azione rimane
fino alla stagione di Pierce Brosnan.
Tanto da generare il dubbio che Bond sia un eroe datato, non più
adatto ai nostri tempi.
Per fortuna con Daniel Craig si è creata una nuova formula, che recupera almeno in parte Fleming trasferendolo nel mondo di oggi. Non
piacerà ai nostalgici di Connery, ma è apprezzato da chi scopre 007
solo ora, personaggio d’azione ma più tormentato.
Certo, se cinquant’anni fa non fosse esploso l’amore del pubblico per

Bond, oggi di lui non si parlerebbe ancora così tanto.

In the collective imagination, the icon is portrayed James
Bond wearing a tuxedo. A sign that identifies the elegance
of the character like the famous Walter Ppk or the ubiquitous vodka martini "shaken, not stirred." How often we
happen to remember, that of James Bond is an image that
lends itself to many insights. Being versatile is a container in
which everyone finds what he seeks. Done this way, for clarity and honesty, it is fair to say up front that if you take the
reference to the character of elegance, James Bond is
Pierce Brosnan. The Irish actor has a natural grace in moving into the shoes tailored Brioni from other colleagues
who have not. The famous Italian fashion house has been
able to silence even the most critical voices for having "betrayed" the british brands, producing clothing worn by
Brosnan and impeccably clean. Brioni has picked up the
baton of a long experience of playing in the sixties. In the
transition from page to screen, 007 earns style. Ian Fleming
in his novels had never talked about the wardrobe of his
hero, delaying, conversely, details on the bad guy. The creator of elegance bondiana was Terence Young, the first director of the saga. He himself carefully to the selfpossession of
pants and a jacket to the right grip, takes care of what was
called a rough diamond, Sean Connery. He took him by his
personal tailor, Anthony Sinclair, his shirt-confidence,
Turnbull and Asser, and made him a legend. She taught him
how to move and the ease of one accustomed to measure
suits. It also forced to sleep with his tuxedo. Despite the teachings of Young, Connery did not, however, that naturally
emerges in Brosnan and sometimes falls into a few gaffes,
like the jacket with all the buttons closed in Dr No. In any
case, the simplicity and conciseness of those dresses make

them more current and a reference point in the future.

Come spesso ci è capitato di ricordare, quella di James Bond è un’immagine che si presta a molti approfondimenti. Essendo poliedrica, è
un contenitore in cui ognuno trova quello che cerca. Fatto questo inciso, per chiarezza e onestà, è giusto dire fin da subito che, se si prende a riferimento il carattere dell’eleganza, James Bond è Pierce
Brosnan. L’attore irlandese ha una grazia naturale nel muoversi nei
panni fatti su misura dalla Brioni che altri suoi colleghi non hanno. La
famosa casa di moda italiana è stata in grado di tacitare anche le voci
più critiche per aver “tradito” i marchi british, realizzando abiti impeccabili e impeccabilmente indossati da Brosnan.
Brioni ha raccolto il testimone di una lunga esperienza partita negli
anni sessanta. Nel passaggio dalla pagina allo schermo, 007 ne guadagna in stile. Ian Fleming nei suoi romanzi non si era mai soffermato sul
guardaroba del suo eroe, attardandosi, per converso, sui dettagli del
cattivo di turno. L’artefice dell’eleganza bondiana è stato Terence
Young, il primo regista della saga.
Egli stesso attento all’aplomb dei pantaloni e alla giusta aderenza di
una giacca, si prende cura di quello che venne definito un diamante
grezzo, Sean Connery. Lo portò dal suo sarto personale, Anthony
Sinclair, dal suo camiciaio di fiducia, Turnbull and Asser, e ne fece un
mito. Gli insegnò come muoversi e la disinvoltura di chi è abituato ad
abiti su misura. Lo costrinse anche a dormire con lo smoking.
Nonostante gli insegnamenti di Young, Connery non ha comunque
quella naturalezza che emerge in Brosnan e talvolta cade in qualche
gaffe, come la giacca con tutti i bottoni chiusi in Dr No.
In ogni caso, la semplicità e la stringatezza di quegli abiti li rendono
sempre attuali e punto di riferimento anche in futuro.
Roger Moore è stato accompagnato dalla fama del gentleman inglese,
ma anche dalla “sfortuna” di aver attraversato gli anni settanta, ricchi di
eccessi e lontani da quella sobrietà che aveva caratterizzato il primo
bond cinematografico. Sebbene Sir Moore, che è stato preso per
mano dal guru di Savile Row Douglas Hayward, non si sia mai lasciato
trascinare fino al limite di quegli anni, è difficile pensare di poter indossare oggi i suoi abiti.
Sartorialmente fallimentare l’esperienza di Thimoty Dalton, per cui
sembrava quasi un peso indossare capi su misura.
George Lazenby, quantunque nel film vi sia un guardaroba di tutto rispetto, non ha avuto il tempo di abbandonare le sue movenze da modello e non si fa certo ricordare per classe ed eleganza.
Quanto sia importante il portamento naturale dell’attore lo dimostra
Casino Royal, con Daniel Craig.
In questo film gli abiti sono stati realizzati da Brioni e la costumista è
ancora l’impareggiabile Lindy Hemming, ma i risultati, rispetto a
Brosnan, appaiono quasi imbarazzanti.
Al di là delle diverse declinazioni nel tempo, per effetto degli attori
che l’hanno impersonato, il personaggio di James Bond ha avuto comunque il grande merito di aver sottolineato l’importanza di un eroe

elegante nelle storia del cinema.
Roger Moore was accompanied by the fame of the English
gentleman, but also the "misfortune" of having gone through

Douglas Hayward, was never carried away to the edge of

In his first 50 years, our hero has had six different actors and as
many characterizations. The first was that of Sean Connery,
who became the icon of the distinctive character through the
preparation of the director Terence Young, who outlined the
main features and adapted to the interpretation of the actor.
The second reading lasted only a movie and that was George
Lazenby but the character, as well as grit, also inherited a more
human vulnerability. The third and longest, with 7 film was
Roger Moore who gave us a 007 action but always elegant
ways quintessentially English and a good dose of humor. Upon
expiration of the 25 th anniversary film, James Bond again
changing the face with the Welsh actor Timothy Dalton who
plays him with an original reference resuming the literary character of Fleming more serious, intimate, harder and less prone
to smile and joke easily. Since 1995 he arrived for 4 cinematic
adventures Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, which perfectly summed
up the characteristics of his last two predecessors: elegance,
charm, humor and a slight credibility adding that human side
just met with the second interpreter. His first appearance as
Agent 007 became the most anticipated film in the history of
the character and not at all, Brosnan is still considered by fans
a great Bond, perhaps too smart in certain situations. Very attached to the character and his world, Pierce Brosnan was
awarded in 1996 during an auction at Sotheby's the famous typewriter "Royal" (which also inspired the name of the casino)
plated in gold belonged to Fleming. This brings us to the interpretation of the 007 most recent and current office: British
actor Daniel Craig, who since his first film distorts and reinvents
the character to new generations of fans around the world. His
Bond is a more combative in that mission as part of a real "war
machine" cold and calculating, leaving little room for sentimentality because of disappointment in love. Craig must be admitted that it had more grit, some bruising and bleeding normal
for situations addressed. A curiosity: Daniel Craig was introduced to the world press as the new James Bond October 14,

di Fleming ma, in quel periodo l’attore inglese non poté accettare il
ruolo perché legato da un contratto televisivo. Allo scadere del 25° anniversario cinematografico, James Bond cambia ancora il volto con l’attore gallese Timothy Dalton che lo interpreta con un riferimento originario riprendendo il personaggio letterario di Fleming più serio, intimista, duro e meno incline al sorriso ed alla battuta facile. Dal 1995 arrivò
per 4 avventure cinematografiche l’attore irlandese Pierce Brosnan che
riassumeva perfettamente le caratteristiche dei suoi due ultimi predecessori: eleganza, fascino, credibilità ed un leggero umorismo aggiungendo quel lato umano appena incontrato con il secondo interprete. La
sua prima apparizione nei panni dell’agente 007 diventò la più attesa
nella storia cinematografica del personaggio e non per nulla, Brosnan è
ancora oggi considerato dai fans un ottimo Bond, forse troppo elegante
in certe situazioni. Molto legato al personaggio ed al suo mondo, Pierce
Brosnan nel 1996 si aggiudicò nel corso di un’asta la famosa macchina
da scrivere “Royal” placcata in oro appartenuta a Fleming. Giungiamo
così all’interpretazione più recente dello 007 in carica: l’attore inglese
Daniel Craig che sin dal primo film stravolge il personaggio. Il suo è un
Bond più combattivo che parte in missione come un’autentica “macchina da guerra” asciando poco spazio ai sentimentalismi a causa di una delusione amorosa. L’aspetto fisico non ricorda il personaggio letterario
ma a Craig bisogna riconoscere di aver dato maggiore grinta, combattimenti più decisi, qualche livido e sanguinamenti normali per le situazioni affrontate, insomma più credibilità e meno eleganza. Una curiosità:

Perché secondo lei Eon Production ha scelto il regista Sam Mendes
per realizzare il film del cinquantesimo anniversario?
Mendes è un regista di grande talento, ma non ha mai fatto un thriller,
nella maniera in cui si intende un film di Bond. Non ci resta che aspettarne l’uscita per vedere come è andato il suo lavoro. La cosa interessante è l’ingaggio di Thomas Newman, il suo compositore preferito,
per la colonna sonora. Mi piacciono moltissimo i suoi lavori, e sono
curioso di vedere quale sarà il suo stile associato ad un film di Bond.

Sam Mendes to make the film's fiftieth anniversary?
Mendes is a director of great talent, but has never done a
thriller in the manner in which they will be a Bond movie.
We just have to wait to see how the release went on his
work. The interesting thing is the hiring of Thomas Newman,
his favorite composer for the soundtrack. I really like his
work, and are curious to see what his style is associated with
a Bond movie.

To tell the truth I do not have that enthusiasm against Bond,
as it once had. Maybe it's age or the fact that he worked directly on the other side of the fence. I worked for the franchise for seven years, and once past the border line, you never
go back. I'm still excited because I still love Bond and all that
running around, but in another way, I feel as if now is oriented towards other horizons. There are times when I really did
not want to talk to Bond.

I think it is great. Certainly his performance is very close to
Fleming's Bond, although going into details, physically, not just
the Bond of Fleming. For me it is a particularly subtle, but for
many fans this difference is important. His approach to the
character is similar to that of Dalton in the 80's. The Bond of
Dalton, the most serious and close to Fleming's Bond books,
but has not been as successful as it deserved, although they
are still convinced that his interpretation is the most accurate,
compared to all others.

that can become our calling card? We ask Ivan Crivellaro.
Ivan, why wear a customized shoe?
Take my shoes custom make, is to make a careful selection of
all that belongs to the shoe, the type of skin, the fantasy of the
dye, the color, the thickness of the sole, to the length of the
laces. If anyone comes to me wants to see represented his ego,

What kind of colors used for the customization of the sole?

On what points you are currently selling this?

Ivan, perché indossare una scarpa personalizzata?
Farsi realizzare una mia calzatura personalizzata, significa fare una selezione accurata di tutto ciò che appartiene alla scarpa, il tipo di pelle,
la fantasia della tintura, il colore, lo spessore della suola, fino alla lunghezza dei lacci. Chi viene da me vuole vedere rappresentato il proprio ego; più eclettici sono, meglio è...
Che tipo di colori utilizzi per la personalizzazione della suola?
Utilizzo vari colori, dall’anilina fino al fluorescente che viene applicato
sulle lancette degli orologi.
Su quali punti vendita sei attualmente presente?
Non sono presente in nessun punto vendita, ho ricevuto varie proposte che sto valutando; ci sono clienti da Berlino, Londra, Singapore,
Milano, Roma, dalla Russia... chi vuole una mia scarpa deve venire nel
mio laboratorio; lì spiego ciò che realizzo. Preferisco che il mio prodotto sia esclusivo anche quando sarà venduto tramite punti vendita.
Come segui i clienti nelle varie fasi di realizzazione delle calzature?
Chiedo sempre ad ogni cliente di venire a trovarmi, se sono impossibilitati possono inviarmi delle immagini fotografiche della calzatura
che vorrebbero, dal colore alla forma desiderata. Si parte da queste
due cose. Una volta iniziata la lavorazione, invio tramite e-mail la foto
della scarpa, per mostrare come sto procedendo nella costruzione.
Cosa colpisce i tuoi clienti internazionali delle tue creazioni?
Più cose ma specialmente il sentirsi liberi di poter esprimere il loro
gusto estetico. La scarpa non è più un accessorio, ma è parte integrante del look; anche indossando un jeans o un abito, la sensazione sarà
sempre entusiasmante: questa è la “mia” scarpa!

Claudio Sgroi, Palermo-born brings with him a diversified expertise in the tobacco world. He began his career in the
Dominican Republic in 2001 under the direction of internationally renowned expert Henri Kelner Oettinger Davidoff
Group. After acquiring knowledge on the production of tobacco and cigars, he moved to Geneva where he became a
Stock Cigar & Sales Assistant Manager at the store Davidoff &
Cie. In 2006 he was promoted to "Brand Manager Davidoff"
the International Agency on Tobacco Treviso, a position that
held until 2009 when he decided to move the United States.
Here he worked as a consultant for several local brands of cigars. In 2011 the move to Mombacho Cigars, a young brand,
created and led by young people who have the opportunity,
given its quality, to grow and become one of the reference
products on the world. Mombacho born in Nicaragua, with
the warm Caribbean, sunshine everywhere and dozens of volcanoes that dot its landscape, Nicaragua is home to some of
the most fertile soils on soft ground. Volcanic ash increases soil
fertility for agriculture, and the land to be so healthy requires
few pesticides or fertilizers. Due to relatively young age of the
cigar industry in Nicaragua, and the young age of the soil, the
country enjoys a very rich soil, full of nutrients. As a result,
Nicaraguan cigars are renowned for their natural taste and its
softness. A cigar is as good as the soil comes from, and
Nicaragua with its fertile volcanic soil and warm climate of
the Caribbean has ideal growing conditions. The result is a
dense smoke. The Mombachos begin their journey in these
fields, where the best leaves are carefully selected. The tobacco is aged for a minimum of two and a half years, then the cigars are rolled and expertly assembled. In honor of the old
tradition, the foot of each Mombacho is then finished with a
touch of uncut leaf, sealing in natural moisture in Nicaragua

and protect the cigar in his path.

It is some years since, for the first time, famous people in the
world of global tobacco were found in a small town in the
Marche. In reality only by the 2010 Encuentro has acquired a
role of international, bringing together many of the characters
that normally are found in the VIP Salon of the most famous
Casa de Habano in Cuba, the Tienda managed by the legendary Partagas, Hombre Habanos, Abel Exposito. Participants from
several parts, such as France, Spain, Greece, Great Britain,
Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, Finland, Canada, Mexico, Cuba,
Grand Cayman, the U.S. and Italy. All thanks to the most famous and important Amigos de Encuentro Partagas which runs
between November and April in Ciudad de la Habana, which
plays the leading role for all the friends who are willing to share
the day dedicated to friendship and slow smoke. Although this
year has ensured the presence of important global ambassadors
of slow smoking, such as: The art in China Leopoldina Gutierrez,

cittadina dell’entroterra marchigiano.
In realtà solo dal 2010 l’Encuentro ha acquisito un ruolo di internazionalità, riunendo molti dei personaggi che, normalmente, si ritrovano
nel Salon Vip della più famosa Casa de l’Habano di Cuba, la Tienda
Partagas gestita dal mitico, Hombre Habanos, Abel Exposito.
Partecipanti provenienti da più parti, come: Francia, Spagna, Grecia,
Gran Bretagna, Belgio, Portogallo, Svizzera, Finlandia, Canada,

Il tutto grazie al più famoso e importante Encuentro Amigos de

di Matelica. L’evento si snoderà nei tre giorni alla fine di giugno, dedicando ogni singola giornata ad un produttore di sigari e ad una area di
produzione: Giovedì, il Toscano, di italica provenienza, Honduras e
Nicaragua con Flor de Selva e Cumpay. Venerdì, Santo Domingo con
Davidoff ed il Sabato Cuba ed i suoi numerosi brand.
