Form 98: ein echter Klassiker
La leggendaria Forma 98, un design orientato al futuro, affascina
per la sua semplicità e genialità e
per questo rimane la quintessenza
dello stile senza tempo. Disegnata
nel 1936 dal dottor Gretsch,
fu il primo esempio di porcellana
per ristorazione in cui ciascun
pezzo si combinava con ogni altro
della collezione. Il progettista
visionario, che sviluppò altre forme
“storiche”, la definì una “necessità
che ha preso forma”, unione perfetta tra bellezza formale e utilità,
cioè forma estetica che al tempo
stesso è comoda e pratica.

The legendary Shape 98, synonymous with trendsetting design,
is notable for a design that is as
simple as it is brilliant, and has
consequently become a byword for
timeless style.
This shape, created in 1936 by Dr.
Gretsch, was in its day the first hotel china where the design of every
single element matched all other
items in the range. The designer,
who developed trailblazing shapes,
regarded it as “the shape of necessity”, a perfect combination
of formal beauty and practicality,
in other words an aesthetic, easyto-handle and functional shape.

Design, besticht durch ihren ebenso
schlichten wie genialen Entwurf und
ist deswegen auch heute noch ein
Inbegriff von zeitlosem Stil. Die 1936
von Dr. Gretsch entworfene Form war
das erste Hotelporzellan, bei dem
jedes Teil formal zu jedem anderen
der Serie passte. Der visionäre
Gestalter, der wegweisende Formen
für die Porzellanindustrie entwickelt
hat, sah in ihr eine "formgewordene
Notwendigkeit", eine perfekte
Verbindung von formaler Schönheit
und Zweckmäßigkeit, das heißt eine
ästhetische und zugleich handliche
und praktische Form.

A volte nascono delle forme
davvero uniche. Come Forma 798,
ineguagliabile. Per questo si chiama Sanspareil.
Il modellista Ferdinand Pleyer si è
ispirato allo stile barocco facendo
rivivere il movimento artistico
di una grande epoca attraverso le
linee morbide del bricco, dei piatti
decorati con festoni e dei manici
sontuosi. Tutto sottolineato
da un leggero rilievo, che avvolge
le forme come un morbido manto.

There are times when new shapes
come into being: such is the incomparable Shape 798, and for this
reason it is called Sanspareil.
The designer Ferdinand Pleyer was
inspired by the baroque style in a
revival of the artistic movement
of that grand era through the soft
lines of the jug, festooned plates
and splendid handles, all of which
are enhanced by a fine relief that
softens the surfaces of the shapes.
Manchmal gelingen Formen, die
einzigartig sind. So wie die unvergleichliche Form 798 – deshalb
trägt sie den Namen Sanspareil.
Der Modelleur Ferdinand Pleyer
griff barocke Stilelemente auf
und machte so das Bewegte einer
großen Epoche neu erlebbar. Etwa
durch die weich geschwungene
Linienführung, die sich über die
Kanne, die festonierten Teller, bis
hin zu den aufwendig gestalteten
Henkeln fortsetzt. Unterstrichen
durch ein leichtes Relief, das die
ganze Form wie ein zartes Tuch
einkleidet.

colore bianco crema in grado di
sopportare l’usura legata all’utilizzo quotidiano nel settore della
ristorazione. Grazie a Duracream,
una nuova massa che come tutta
la porcellana dura viene cotta a
1400°C, Generation è straordinariamente resistente a scalfitture
e sbeccature. Un’eccezionale
combinazione di caratteristiche
funzionali ed estetiche, mai vista
prima nella porcellana.

A new generation has arrived: a
delicate cream-coloured porcelain which is also hard enough to
withstand the tough day-to-day
requirements of the food service
industry. As a result of the newly
developed Duracream body, which,
like any hard porcelain, is fired
at 1.400° C, Generation is also
extremely scratch resistant and,
what’s more, particularly chipping
resistant. A combination of outstanding functional properties and
visual characteristics never before
attained in porcelain.

der Gastronomie ihm so gut wie

The individual pieces challenge diners to grasp them in their hands,”
said the designer Carsten Gollnick,

The collection's smooth contours
