Their target is an original synthesis of spontaneity and beauty, technique and emotion, aesthetics and functionality.
From a formal point of view, the rediscovered appeal of asymmetry, the ability to create geometric forms in which the rule of reason
cohabits with the spontaneity of Nature is striking.
Variable-radius curves, virtual hollows like irregularities in the surface.
But above all, it is in the rediscovered design of connections and
combinations, highlighting the meeting of the various parts, along
the borders, in the breaks, that the shapes again find a sense
of volume, the very reasons for composing a continuous atmosphere, not a collection of pure shapes, but a flow of various elements, words that find their own sense in the completed rhythm
of a phrase.
Seit langer Zeit widmen sich Ludovica und Roberto Palomba dem
Thema Badezimmer. Ihr Ziel ist es, ein fein austariertes Zusammenspiel von Ursprünglichkeit und Schönheit, Technik und Gefühl, Ästhetik und Funktionalität zu schaffen. Diesem Ziel sind sie
mit der Palomba Collection ein grosses Stück näher gekommen.
Was die Formen betrifft, fällt die neu gefundene Freude an der
Asymmetrie auf. Ihre Fähigkeit, geometrische Linien zu ziehen, bei
denen sich die Regeln der Vernunft mit der Unberechenbarkeit
der Natur verbinden. Kurven mit variablem Radius, virtuelle Tiefen
oder zufällige Unregelmässigkeiten der Grundrisse.
Doch vor allem im neu gefundenen Design der Verbindungen und
Anschlüsse, in der Abstimmung der Begegnung der verschiedenen Teile – an den Rändern, in den Kontrasten – vermitteln die
Formen das Gefühl für den Raum. Gerade darin liegt der eigentliche Sinn der kontinuierlichen Raumgestaltung: Nicht eine Sammlung reiner Formen, sondern ein Ineinanderfliessen verschiedener
Bestandteile – wie Worte, die ihre Bedeutung erst im Laufe eines
vollständigen Satzes entfalten.
For some time now, Ludovica and Roberto Palomba have been
rethinking and redesigning the identity of the contemporary
bathroom.

Cela fait bien longtemps que Ludovica et Roberto Palomba recréent et redessinent l’identité de la salle de bains contemporaine.
Cette nouvelle collection représente un aboutissement, une synthèse originale entre beauté et spontanéité, technique et émotion,
esthétique et fonctionnalité.
D’un point de vue purement formel, elle n’est autre que l’expression du plaisir retrouvé de l’asymétrie, de la capacité à tracer des
lignes géométriques, où les règles de la raison s’harmonisent avec
l’imprévisibilité de la nature.
Courbes à rayon variable, profondeurs virtuelles et une certaine
irrégularité casuelle des surfaces planes.
Mais c’est surtout dans le design retrouvé des connexions et des
jonctions, dans le fait de souligner la rencontre entre les différents
éléments, sur les bords, dans les contrastes, que la forme retrouve tout son sens et son volume, pouvant ainsi créer une ambiance absolue. Non pas une collection de pures formes mais un
flux maîtrisé d’éléments divers, tels des mots qui déploient leur
signification profonde seulement au sein d’une phrase achevée.

Ganzes bilden. Darin liegt die neue Herausforderung der Collection. Ihre Botschaft ist: Das Industrielle nähert sich den Ideen der
Natur.
FINGERPRINT OF NATURE. La Palomba Collection est en soi
une véritable évolution de la géométrie pure. C’est comme si, finalement, des formes à la fois souples et naturelles jaillissaient du
néant, enfin libérées de la gangue primordiale qui les emprisonnait.
Formes intenses, vides que l’eau abandonne pour se précipiter ailleurs, creux issus d’une corrosion millénaire, évoquant tour à tour
criques ou récifs. La Palomba Collection nous conte ce combat
ancestral entre l’eau et la matière, entre le plein et le vide. Présentée pour la première fois en 2005, la collection a pris de l’ampleur
en 2007, en intégrant de nouveaux éléments basiques: baignoires,
WC et bidets, ainsi qu’une nouvelle série de lavabos. Cette année,
les architectes Ludovica+Roberto Palomba ont également étendu
leur recherche à une autre dimension : le rapport entre la forme
et la non-symétrie présente dans la nature. L’équilibre naturel se
fonde en réalité sur un concept de «globalité», union de différents
éléments qui, une fois rassemblés, forment une entité aussi merveilleuse qu’imprévisible. Tel est le nouveau défi de cette collection. La fabrication industrielle se rapprochant de plus en plus du
monde naturel.
FINGERPRINT OF NATURE. The Palomba Collection is a true
and unique evolution of pure geometry. As if the soft and natural
shapes could finally emerge, free of the primordial casing that imprisoned them. Intense shapes, voids that the water abandons
only to converge elsewhere, in hollows excavated by thousands
of years of erosion, or reminiscent of inlets or reefs. The Palomba Collection recounts the age-old combat between liquids and

FINGERABDRUCK DER NATUR. Die Palomba Collection löst
sich mit ihren Entwürfen von der reinen Geometrie, die lange Zeit
die Formen des Bades bestimmte. Die Kollektion interpretiert die
Handschrift des Wassers, seinen Fingerabdruck. Nach dem Zurückfliessen des Wassers bleiben neue Formen: Höhlungen, Erosionsgräben und Buchten. Die weichen Linien der Natur treten
hervor aus der Fülle, die sie gefangen hielt. Die Palomba Collection erzählt vom uralten Kampf zwischen Wasser und Festland,
zwischen Material und heraus gelöster Leere. 2005 wurde die Kollektion erstmals präsentiert. 2007 wird sie um weitere grundlegende Elemente ergänzt: Wannen, WCs und Bidets und eine Reihe
neuer Waschtische. In diesem Jahr dringen Ludovica+Roberto
Palomba in eine neue Dimension vor: Sie untersuchen die na6

introduced in 2005, is to be expanded in 2007 by new basic elements such as bathtubs, WCs and bidets and a range of new
washbasins. Ludovica+Roberto Palomba are this year delving into
a new aspect, the relationship of the forms and asymmetry found
in nature. The natural balance is in fact based on the concept of
“togetherness”, the union of the several parts which, together,
form a wonderful unity that cannot be preordained. Such is the
new challenge of the collection. Industrial production is ever more
approaching the natural world.
Presentata per la prima volta nel 2005 la collezione si amplia nel
2007 con nuovi fondamentali elementi: vasche, vasi e bidet e una
serie di nuovi lavabi. Ludovica+Roberto Palomba spingono quest’anno la loro ricerca anche in un nuovo ambito: il rapporto tra le
forme e la ‘non-simmetria’ presente in natura. L’equilibrio naturale
si basa infatti sul concetto di ‘insieme’, unione di parti diverse che,
congiunte, formano un unicum meraviglioso, non preordinabile.
Questa la nuova sfida della collezione. La produzione indu striale si
avvicina sempre più al mondo naturale.

Roberto Palomba dieses dynamische Konzept. Wie bei Modekollektionen geht es darum, Inneneinrichtern und Planern stets ein
breites Sortiment aktueller Produkte von gehobener Qualität anzubieten. Sammler können diese Produkte auf verschiedene Art
kombinieren und später ergänzen oder durch andere Teile ersetzen. Damit eröffnet Laufen Architekten und Designern, die moderne Badezimmer planen, eine grosse Chance: Die Befreiung von
jedem Klischee und völlige Gestaltungsfreiheit.
ONE COLLECTION. INFINITE SOLUTIONS. It might be somewhat
simplistic to reduce the description of the washbasins, washbasin bowls, bathtubs, shower trays and furniture of the Palomba
Collection to that of a mere bathroom range. Rather the Palomba
Collection is a number of harmonising objects that can be combined with one another or else with products of a similar design,
each however maintaining its individual character. Laufen has
taken it upon itself to constantly broaden the Palomba Collection
with new designs. At the same time, however, any one product
can be replaced by another. “They come and go …”, that is how
Ludovica + Roberto Palomba describe this dynamic concept. As
happens in fashion collections, the aim is to offer interior designers
and planners a vast range of up-to-date quality products. As true
and proper collectors, they can then mix’n’match the products, integrate them subsequently or replace them with other pieces. This
is thus a great opportunity that Laufen offers architects and interior
designers who plan modern bathrooms, free of any constraints
and with complete freedom of planning.
EINE KOLLEKTION. UNENDLICHE MÖGLICHKEITEN. Es würde
der Sache wohl nicht gerecht, würde man die Waschtische,
Waschtisch-Schalen, Badewannen, Duschwannen und Möbel der
Palomba Collection von Laufen nur als ein „Komplettbad“ bezeichnen. Die Palomba Collection vereint vielmehr eine Reihe von

Objekten, die miteinander und/oder mit anderen Produkten von
ähnlichem Design kombinierbar sind. Und die sich doch das Wesen einer Ikone bewahren. Laufen hat sich der Aufgabe verschrieben, die Palomba Collection ständig mit neuen Designlösungen zu
bereichern. Gleichzeitig lässt sich ein Produkt durch ein anderes

Comme c’est le cas pour les collections haute couture, l’intention
n’est autre que de proposer aux ensembliers et aux architectes
d’intérieur une vaste palette de produits de qualité, très tendance.
Si bien qu’à l’instar des véritables collectionneurs nous pourrons
les combiner de multiples façons, en intégrer d’autres par la suite
ou les remplacer par de nouveaux. C’est donc là une opportunité
majeure que Laufen offre aux architectes et aux designers d’intérieur qui entendent créer des salles de bains contemporaines.
Avec, en prime, la liberté quant aux clichés et la liberté de concevoir leurs projets comme ils l’entendent!
UNA COLLEZIONE. INFINITE SOLUZIONI. Sarebbe forse riduttivo
descrivere i lavabi, le bacinelle, le vasche, i piatti doccia e i mobili
di Palomba Collection con solo l’appellativo di serie completa per
il bagno: Palomba Collection racchiude in sé una serie di oggetti
in armonia tra loro, abbinabili l’uno con l’altro e/o con prodotti dal
design simile, mantenendo però la loro natura di icone. Laufen si
è assunta il compito di ampliare sempre di più la serie Palomba
Collection con nuove soluzioni di design. Allo stesso tempo, però,
un prodotto può essere sostituito da altri. “Vanno e vengono…”,
così descrivono questo concetto dinamico Ludovica+Roberto Palomba. Come accade nelle collezioni di moda, l’intento è offrire
ad arredatori e progettisti, una vasta gamma di prodotti attuali e
di qualità. Come veri e propri collezionisti, potranno quindi combinare in modo variabile i prodotti, integrarli in seguito o sostituirli
con altri pezzi.
Un’ importante opportunità dunque, che Laufen offre agli architetti
e agli interior designer che intendono progettare bagni contemporanei: libertà da ogni cliché e libertà di progettazione.

DAS ASYMMETRISCHE BAD.
Endlich echte Freiheit. Eine Freiheit, wie sie nur in der Natur
vorkommt. Wo nichts zufällig geschieht und alles dem Gesetz des
Lebens folgt. Die Natur spielt mit dem Unterschied; sie gleicht an
und verändert. Das Projekt „Natur“ ist allumfassend und die Präzision der industriellen Welt schafft es allenfalls, das Wesen der Natur zu erspüren. Bei diesem Badentwurf beugt sich die industrielle
Fertigung der Asymmetrie; die Industrie verändert ihre Gesetze,
verlässt ihre Gewohnheiten. Der bleibende Eindruck des asymmetrischen Bades sind seine ungewohnten Formen, die uns sanft
umgeben, wie alte Bekannte.
Im Vordergrund links platziert: Die beiden Waschtische ruhen auf
den Möbeln der Palomba Collection. Nach oben schliessen sich
lange, rechteckige Spiegel an. Die strenge Form des Quaders ist
das Verbindungselement dieses Teils der Kollektion: Quer im Hintergrund wird die Einbaubadewanne in eine hohe Stufe eingelassen. Sie dient als Ablagefläche oder Sitzgelegenheit. Ein bequemes Bad voller Licht. Die neuen WCs und Bidets, in diesem Fall
wandmontiert, stimmen perfekt mit diesem Konzept der natürlichen Asymmetrie überein. Sie tragen – wie auch die neue Duschwannen – dazu bei, diesem privaten Baderaum die besondere
Note zu verleihen.
THE ASYMMETRIC BATH.
Finally, true freedom, as happens in nature where nothing is accidental and everything follows the laws of life. Nature plays with
difference, unifying and modifying. Its plan is greater than the precision of the industrial world as is this proposal in which industry
bows to asymmetry, adapting its laws, abandoning its customs.
From the asymmetric bath, we merely draw its innovation, the
unusual shapes that gently encompass us, as if we already knew
them. In the foreground are the two asymmetric washbasins placed
on Palomba Collection vanity units complete with long rectangular
mirrors. Since the laws that regulate architecture are natural laws,
the rigour of the “box” emphasises and creates the binding element of this new asymmetric collection. Behind that is the bathtub
which is built into a high step that is also used as a shelf or seat.

A comfortable bathroom, bathed in light, where even the large bathtub is asymmetric in shape, and can easily be built in. The new
toilets and bidets, in this case wall-hung, are perfectly integrated
into the natural asymmetrical design and help, as does the new
showertrays, to make this bathroom area special.
LA SALLE DE BAINS ASYMETRIQUE
Finalement, la vraie liberté, c’est comme dans la nature, où rien
n’est dû au hasard, et où toute chose obéit aux lois de la vie. La
nature joue avec les différences, les unifiant ou les modifiant tour
à tour. Et son projet est plus grand que la précision du monde
industriel. A l’image de cette proposition où l’industrie se plie à
l’asymétrie, modifie ses lois et abandonne ses habitudes. De la

salle de bains asymétrique, nous nous bornons à accueillir l’innovation, et les formes insolites qui peu à peu nous apprivoisent
comme si nous les connaissions déjà. Au premier plan, les deux
lavabos asymétriques, que complètent deux miroirs rectangulaires
tout en longueur, sont posés sur des meubles de la Palomba Collection. Et puisque les lois régissant l’architecture sont des lois naturelles, la rigueur de la «scatola», la boîte, vient créer et renforcer
le liant de cette nouvelle collection asymétrique. Au second plan,
la baignoire est encastrée sur une marche haute, que l’on peut
également utiliser pour y déposer des objets ou pour s’asseoir.
Une salle de bains agréable et pratique, très lumineuse, où même
la baignoire est de forme asymétrique, et peut être encastrée avec
un bord de 28 cm. Quant aux nouveaux WC et bidets suspendus,

se già le conoscessimo. In primo piano, i due lavabi asimmetrici
sono poggiati sui mobili di Palomba Collection completi di specchi
rettangolari lunghi. Poiché le leggi che regolano l’architettura sono
leggi naturali, il rigore della “scatola” accentua e crea il legante dei
questa nuova collezione asimmetrica. In secondo piano, la vasca
è posizionata ad incasso su un gradino alto che è utilizzato anche
come porta oggetti o seduta. Un bagno comodo, pieno di luce
dove anche la grande vasca è di forma asimmetrica, può essere
incassata I nuovi vasi e bidet, in questo caso back-to-wall sono
perfettamente in linea con il concetto di asimmetria naturale e partecipano, come il nuovo piatto doccia, a rendere speciale questo
spazio bagno-casa.

Der grosse Waschtisch 01 ist ein Schlüsselelement der Palomba
Collection von Laufen. In der rechteckigen Fläche ist das Waschbecken mit festen, natürlichen Linien eingegraben. Er zeigt, wie
die Energie des Wassers eine Landfläche für immer verändert und
eine weiche Aushöhlung von länglicher Form erzeugt. Die Tiefe des
Beckens greift Raum, nimmt – unsichtbar von aussen – allmählich
zu. Dieser Waschtisch präsentiert sich im Bad als grundlegendes
Element von starkem Charakter. Doch zart ist er geformt; seine
Ränder verbergen die wirkliche Tiefe des Beckens.
THE WASHBASIN 01. THE STAR OF THE BATHROOM.
The great washbasin 01 is an outstanding item of furniture.
The bowl, set in the large rectangular wash-top, asserts itself in
the most natural way; as if the weight of the water had for ever
modified the flat surface, creating a hollow in the soft, elongated
shape. The depth of the bowl varies, slowly broadening out but
the careful planning of the outside makes that invisible. So the
washbasin appears as a basic element in the bathroom, strong in
character yet with delicate lines along the edges that hide the true
depth of the bowl.

Le grand lavabo 01 représente un élément majeur du décor. Au cœur du vaste plan de toilette, la vasque est jetée d’un geste ferme et naturel; comme si le poids de l’eau avait modifié la surface terrestre
pour l’éternité, générant une cavité de forme allongée, tout en souplesse. La profondeur de la vasque
se diversifie, s’amplifie peu à peu, par le biais d’une conception raffinée. C’est pourquoi, au sein de
l’espace salle de bains, le lavabo apparaît comme un élément fondamental, au caractère prédominant,
avec ses bords au tracé subtil, qui dissimulent la véritable profondeur de la vasque.

Il grande lavabo 01 è un elemento d’arredo protagonista. Nel grande piano rettangolare la vasca è
progettata con gesto fermo e naturale; come se il peso dell’acqua avesse modificato per sempre un
piano terrestre, generando uno scavo dalla forma allungata e morbida. La profondità della conca si diversifica, si amplia man mano: grazie ad un’attenta progettazione dall’esterno ciò è invisibile. Il lavabo
dunque si presenta nello spazio bagno come elemento fondamentale, dal carattere forte ma con tratti
sottili dei bordi che nascondono la reale profondità della conca.

A significant part of the Palomba Collection plays on the idea of
“border”. This is essential for defining an object, in this case it is
a line that is clear-cut and solid to the eye and touch. So it is that
the architects, Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, have applied this idea
to bathtubs, washbasins, WCs, bidets and showertrays. These
softly-shaped products take advantage of geometry in order to

The showertray also has a substantial border which is essential in
order to define and highlight the organic shape it contains. This
product, which is comfortable, spacious and ready to receive
large amounts of water, is reminiscent of the natural world, the
encroachment of sea water on the sand. As with the wallhung
Wc and bidet, with their clean, simple but gentle lines, they are
all connected by a wide border that, like a red thread, recurs

Auch das Badezimmer ist Architektur. Wenn man die Anordnung
von Badewanne, Waschtisch, WC, Bidet und der Möbel
überdenkt, kann es gelingen, das Bad dem Haus als Wohnraum
zuzuschlagen. Die Waschtisch-Schale mag noch knapp der
klassischen Vorstellung von Keramik entsprechen. Wohlgeformt
thront sie auf einem Unterbau, der in einer Farbe lackiert ist, die in
deutlichem Kontrast zum Hintergrund steht. Die doppelte Dusche
verbindet das Angenehme mit dem Nützlichen und macht dieses
Bad zu einem Raum, den man sich teilt. Alles muss Genuss und
Freude bereiten: Von den gestalterischen Details im Raum über die
sanitären Anlagen bis zur Regen spendenden Dusche. Genuss für
sich selbst oder für andere (die selbstverständlich auch mit grosser

La salle de bains est, elle aussi, architecture. En repensant
la disposition des baignoires, lavabos, WCs et bidets, qui la
composent, on parvient à établir un projet qui fait réellement
de cette pièce une partie intégrante de la maison. Quant au
sculptural lavabo placé sur un meuble laqué dont la teinte
contraste résolument avec le fond, il donne le ton avec juste
ce qu’il faut de classicisme. Et la double douche, qui conjugue
plaisir et fonctionnalité, crée un lieu de partage et de convivialité.
Des finitions aux sanitaires, en passant par le jet de la douche
qui ruisselle comme une pluie vivifiante, tout doit être plaisir et
émotion. Pour soi et pour les autres. Et chacun de ces objets doit
être choisi avec un soin jaloux.

stanza realmente parte della casa. Il lavabo scul toreo domina
l’ambiente al limite del classico poggiandosi su un mobile laccato
colorato in netto contrasto con lo sfondo. La doccia doppia
combina funzione e piacere e rende questo bagno un luogo da
condividere. Dalle finiture, ai sanitari, alla doccia battente come
pioggia, tutto deve dare piacere ed emozionare sé o gli altri, scelti
naturalmente con molta cura.

den Waschtischen die passenden Möbel zu entwerfen.
Deshalb präsentiert Palomba Collection ein klar strukturiertes
Möbelprogramm. Aus nur wenigen Elementen ergeben sich beliebig
viele individuelle Kombinationen. Die Korpusse sind entweder aus
Echtholzfurnier Makassar Ebenholz oder Echtholzfurnier Eiche
hell. Griffe und Rahmen sind aus Aluminium, Spiegel und Leuchten
vervollständigen das Programm.

It was essential for Ludovica and Roberto Palomba to design the
furniture to go with the washbasins. That is why the Palomba
Collection forms a clearly structured range of furniture. Any
number of individual combinations can be made from only a few
elements. The carcases are of genuine Macassar ebony or light
oak veneer. The knobs and framework are aluminium. Mirrors and
lights complete the range.

Pour Ludovica et Roberto Palomba, il était essentiel d’accorder
des meubles aux lavabos. Raison pour laquelle la Palomba
Collection présente un programme de meubles clairement
structuré. Quelques éléments suffisent pour composer, au gré

Die Palomba Collection von Laufen wird ergänzt um eine Reihe
von Möbeln und Accessoires; ideale Ergänzungen zur Badkeramik. Es geht dabei um Möbelelemente und Accessoires wie Spiegel und Leuchten unterschiedlicher Grösse, die gestaltet wurden,
um verschiedensten Ansprüchen genügen zu können. Die Spiegel lassen sich nach dem Modulprinzip verlängern und mit Beleuchtungselementen verbinden. Die wichtigsten Möbelelemente
lassen sich ohne Mühe so zusammenstellen, dass sie stets zu
ästhetisch ansprechenden und grössenmässig ausgewogenen

The Palomba Collection comes with a range of accessories and
furniture that are fully integrated among themselves. They are
furniture units and accessories such as mirrors and lightings
of various dimensions planned to meet so many different
requirements. The length of the mirrors depends on the chosen
module, they fit in with the lamps and the simplicity of the basic
furniture units makes it easy to combine them to produce solutions
that are always aesthetic and dimensionally balanced. Possible

là de meubles de salle de bains, d’accessoires tels des miroirs,
des lampes de différentes grandeurs, créés tout exprès pour
répondre à de nombreuses et multiples exigences. Les miroirs,
