Throughout our Judeo-Christian history, people
have cried out to God for help, and the Lord has
protected us, provided for us, and helped us to
grow into a mature relationship with him. We
know, as Jesus knows, that we are to call upon
the Lord for help, but not to test him, as the devil
sometimes tempts us to do.
FAMILY DAY: Mon. Feb. 15
8:00 am: English Mass
9:00 am Italian Mass
There will be no evening Mass.
DINNER DANCE
SATURDAY MARCH 5, 2016
Our Parish is once again preparing for
our annual Parish Dinner & Dance. This
gala evening will be held at DaVinci
Banquet Hall, Woodbridge.
This event is our major parish
community and fundraising event. Raffle, Live &
Silent Auction, delicious food!
Tickets are $100. Per person. They are available
after all Masses and at the church office.

VOCATIONS
Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert for
forty days of prayer and fasting. Are you open to
being led by the Holy Spirit into the lifecommitment God has prepared for you? If you

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
We will pray the Stations of the Cross every
Friday evening at 6:30pm in English & 8:00pm in
Italian.
Mass will be celebrated at 7:30pm

Our Lord encourages us with a timely reminder
about what our actions truly should be – to show
mercy to others. Does
showing mercy mean to take the time delivering
food for the local food bank in our
neighbourhood? Do we have time
to help by serving on a weekend in the soup
kitchen in our city or praying for a family who is
dealing with a personal
crisis? Or maybe the refugee family who needs
some volunteer help resettling their family to a
new life here in Canada. In
essence, ShareLife becomes that connective bridge
between the pulpit and the street. When we are
called to action in the
Catholic community, we know of so many ways
we can make a difference by working together in
the lives of those in need.
Annually, we share in helping over 114,000
individuals, thanks to the support received through
our collective efforts.
Please help us celebrate our ShareLife’s 40th
anniversary by supporting our annual Archdiocesan
appeal during this

1 DOMENICA DI QUARESIMA
La Quaresima si apre con il racconto delle
tentazioni di Gesù. Poste alla soglia del suo
ministero pubblico, esse
sono in qualche modo
l’anticipazione delle
numerose contraddizioni
che Gesù dovrà subire nel
suo itinerario, fino
all’ultima violenza della
morte. In esse è rivelata
l’autenticità dell’umanità di
Cristo, che, in completa
solidarietà con l’uomo, subisce tutte le tentazioni
tramite le quali il Nemico cerca di distoglierlo
dalla sua completa sottomissione al Padre. “Cristo
tentato dal demonio! Ma in Cristo sei tu che sei
tentato” (sant’Agostino).
In esse viene anticipata la vittoria finale di Cristo
nella risurrezione. Cristo inaugura un cammino che è l’itinerario di ogni essere umano - dove
nessuno potrà impedire che il disegno di Dio si
manifesti per tutti gli uomini: la sua volontà di
riscattarlo, cioè di recuperare per l’uomo la
sovranità della sua vita in un libero riconoscimento
della sua dipendenza da Dio.
È nell’obbedienza a Dio che risiede la libertà
dell’uomo. L’abbandono nelle mani del Padre “Io vivo per il Padre” - è la fonte dell’unica e vera
libertà, che consiste nel rifiutare di venire trattati
in modo diverso da quello che siamo. Il potere di
Dio la rende possibile.

Il Signore ci incoraggia puntualmente ricordandoci
quello che dovremmo fare veramente – mostrare
misericordia per gli altri. Essere misericordiosi
significa forse trovare il tempo per portare da
mangiare nei luoghi di raccolta del cibo
presenti nel nostro quartiere? Troviamo il tempo
per servire nel fine settimana alla mensa dei poveri
della nostra città o per pregare per una famiglia
che sta affrontando una crisi personale? O forse
per aiutare una famiglia di profughi che ha
bisogno di aiuto per adattarsi ad una nuova vita qui
in Canada… Sostanzialmente ShareLife diventa il
ponte connettivo tra il pulpito e la strada. Quando
siamo chiamati a intervenire nella comunità
cattolica, sappiamo che ci sono tanti modi
per cambiare le cose, lavorando insieme per
trasformare la vita di coloro che sono nel bisogno.
Ogni anno, aiutiamo oltre
114.000 persone, grazie al sostegno ricevuto
attraverso i nostri sforzi collettivi.

INFORMATION MEETING
Next meeting date: Wed. Feb. 24 at 7:00pm in the
basement meeting room.
We are inviting members of our church to come to an
information meeting about the steps our parish
must take to sponsor a refugee family. We will form a
large committee to take on this project.
Pope Francis and Cardinal Collins are asking for our
compassion toward refugees enduring great hardships.
Many hands make light work. Please come and see if
you may wish to contribute to helping a refugee family
get a new start in life.
