Join, being careful not to twist and knit until cap measures 4 ½(4 ½, 5, 5 ½, 6)” from cast-on edge. Change to double-pointed needles and begin decreases: Decrease row 1: K6, K2 tog. Repeat all around Decrease row 2: K5, K2 tog. Repeat all around. Decrease row 3: K4, K2 tog. Repeat all around. Continue to decrease in this way until last round of decrease is K1, K2 tog. On next round, K2 together all around. Cut yarn and thread through remaining stitches. Pull tight and sew in ends. ROSE HAT You will need 2 colors of pink and small amount of green. Cast on with deeper pink and knit for 10 rows. Change to lighter pink and finish rest of hat. Rose: With deeper pink, cast on 10 stitches. Row 1 and all odd-numbered rows; Purl. Row 2. Knit 2, M1, repeat across row ending K2 Row 4. K1, M1, repeat across row ending K1 Row 6. Knit Row 8. Bind off. Leaf: With green, cast on 5 sts. Row 1 and all odd numbered rows; Purl. Row 2. K2, Y/O, K1, Y/O, K2 (7 sts.) Row 4. K3, Y/O, K1, Y/O, K3 (9 sts.) Row 6. K4, Y/O, K1, Y/O, K4 (11 sts.) Row 8. SSK, K7, K2 tog. (9 sts.) Row 10. SSK, K5, K2 tog. (7 sts.) Row 12. SSK, K3, K2 tog. (5 sts.) Row 14. SSK, K1, K2 tog. (3 sts.) Row 16. Slip 1, K2 tog., pass slipped stitch over, pull end thru last stitch. With cast-on tail, sew leaf to top of cap. For rose, roll width-wise with right side facing out. With cast-on tail, sew base of rose and then attach to cap. ats BLUE GINGHAM HAT You will need White, Light Blue and Deeper Blue. Cast on with white and knit for 10 rows. Begin gingham pattern following chart and work pattern until hat measures 4 ½(4 ½, 5, 5 ½, 6)”. Change back to white. When you have finished all decreases, change to deep blue and decrease again to 7-9 stitches. Continue on the remaining stitches for 3”, cut yarn and thread through remaining stitches, fasten off. Cast on with orange and knit for 10 rows. Change to white for 3 rows and then to blue to finish cap. Beak: Cast on 5 stitches with orange. Purl 1 row, knit 1 row, purl 1 row. SSK, K1, K2 tog., P 3 tog., finish off. Sew to hat using cast-on tail and weave in other end. Wings: Cast on 8 stitches with blue. Knit rows1, 2 & 3. Row 4. SSK, Knit to end. Repeat row 3 & 4 three more times. Next row, K2, SSK. SSK, K1, Cut yarn and pull through remaining two stitches and finish off. Sew to hat using cast-on tail. Embroider eyes and crochet a loopy chain for top if you want. CHICK HAT You will need orange and yellow and a bit of black for eyes. Cast on with orange and knit for 10 rows. Change to yellow and work stripes: 3 rows yellow, 3 rows orange, repeat. Then change back to yellow and finish hat. Make wings in yellow and beak in orange.
