24 CURTAIN PANELS
MATERIALS
For each panel: 200 g. Doppio Ritorto
8/3=5 cotton colour white no. 02.
Crochet hook no. 1.50.
SIZES: cm. 48 x 65
PATTERN STITCHES
Chain stitch
Loop st.
Single crochet (sc)
Double crochet (dc)
Treble crochet (tr)
Double treble crochet (double tr.)
Bobble: 4 double tr. bound together.
WORKING INSTRUCTIONS
The panel consists of two parts worked separately: the centre star and the
cable background with bobbles.
Centre star: with Crochet hook no. 1.50 work a chain of 8 sts., close with
a loop with 1 loop st. and, in the circle work:
Row 1: 18 double tr. (= replace the 1st double tr. of the row with 4 chs.).
End this row and all the next rows with 1 loop in the beg. stitch.
Row 2: * 1 double tr. in the tr. below, 1 ch. *. Repeat from * to *.
Row 3: * 1 sc. in the space of 1 ch., 4 chs. *. Repeat from * to *.
Row 4: with 2 loop sts. reach the centre of the 1st loop and work 1 bobble, * 3 chs., 1 bobble in the next loop *. Repeat from * to * and end
with 3 chs.
Without breaking off the yarn, cont. on each tip separately working
forward and return rows; for the first short tip work:
Row 1: 1 bobble and 3 chs. in each of the next 4 loops. End without
working the last 3 chs.
Row 2: 1 bobble and 3 chs. in each of the next 3 loops. End without
working the last 3 chs.
Row 3: 1 bobble and 3 chs. in each of the next 2 loops. End without
working the last 3 chs.
Row 4: 1 bobble in the last loop. A short tip has been completed.
Break off and bind the thread. Slip the next 5 loops, join the yarn in the
6th loop and work another short tip. At the end, break off and bind the
thread.
For the first long tip join the yarn in the 1st of the 5 loops slipped and
work as described for the short tip but working 5 bobbles in row 1, 4
bobbles in row 2 and so on to complete 5 rows and form only 1 bobble.
Break off and bind the thread. Work another long tip in the last 5 free
loops on the side opposite the star. At the end, without breaking off the
yarn, work around the star 1 row as follows: * 5 chs., 1 sc. in the closing
loop of the external bobble of the row below *. Repeat from * to * along
all the sides of the tips and work, between tips, 1 sc. in the loop of 3 chs.
of row 4 at the base of the tip, 5 chs., 1 sc. in the loop of next 3 chs. of
Row 4 at the base of the next tip. Break off and bind the thread.
Cable background with bobbles: with Crochet hook no. 1.50 work a chain
of 148 sts. and, beg. from the 6th ch. from the Crochet hook, work:
Row 1: 1 tr., * 1 ch., slip 1 ch., 1 tr. in the next ch. *. Repeat from * to *.
Row 2: 3 chs., * 1 tr. in the space of the next ch., 1 ch., slip next tr. (= 1
cable pattern) *. Repeat from * to * and end with 1 tr. in the space of the
next ch., 1 tr. in second last chs. of the row below.
Row 3: (beg. of the first frame bobbles) 4 chs., slip the first 2 tr., * 1 tr. in
the space of the next ch., 1 ch., slip the next tr. *. Repeat from * to * 36
times, 1 bobble in the space of the next ch., ** 1 ch., slip next tr., 1 tr. in
the space of the next ch. **. Repeat from ** to ** and end with 1 ch., 1
tr. in the last ch. of the row below.
Row 4: like row 2 working from * to * 35 times, 1 bobble in next space, 1
ch., 1 bobble in next space, complete the cable row.
From Row 5 to Row 10: cont. as before increasing the centre pattern by 1
bobble at each row (consequently decrease the number of side cable patterns) until there are 8 centre bobbles at the 10th row.
Row 11: work up to the first 4 bobbles as described previously, then, work
1 ch.; in the space of the next ch. work 1 tr., 1 ch. and 1 tr. (= 1 increase); 1 ch., work the next four bobbles and complete the cable row.
From Row 12 to Row 18: cont. as before increasing at the centre of the
work.
Row 19: (beg. of the second frame with bobbles) work as before working
1 bobble instead of increasing at the centre.
From Row 20 to Row 25: cont. as described for row 5; you will have 7
centre bobbles and 7 cable patterns between the first and the second
frame with bobbles.
Row 26: work as before working 3 chs. instead of 1 ch. between the first
and the second group of 4 bobbles at the centre of the second frame.
Row 27: like Row 26 working at the centre of the second frame, above
the loop of 3 chs., 2 chs., 1 sc. in the loop of 3 chs. below, 2 chs.
Row 28: divide the work into two parts cont. working each part separa-

tely. Work up to the last bobble of the second frame, then, turn the work.
Row 29: (from this row start the centre star with short tips placed horizontally and the long tips placed vertically) work to the last bobble of the
second frame, * 2 chs., 1 sc. in the loop of 5 chs. next to the last bobble
of the long tip; return on the 2 chs. and work 3 sc. *, then, complete
the row.
From Row 30 to Row 46: work like row 28 and Row 29 joining, every 2
rows, the centre star to the background as described from * to * for row
29 without joining the loop of 5 chs. between the tips of the star.
At the end of Row 46 the work is halfway and a quarter of the star is joined. Cont. work in reverse until half of the star is joined, namely up to
the last bobble of the second long tip (= Row 64). Stand the work. Knit
up the stitches left standing at the beg. of row 29 and work to match the
part worked to the end of row 64.
Row 65: (the two parts are joined in this row) work as before and work, at
the centre, 2 chs., 1 sc. at the top of the tip of the star, work 2 chs., then,
cont. normally on the second part.
Row 66: work as before and work, at the centre, 1 ch., 1 sc. in the sc.
below, 1 ch., then, complete the row.
From Row 67 to Row 91: complete the work symmetrically.
MAKING UP AND FINISH
Without breaking off the yarn, finish the borders of the panel as follows:
Row 1: on the short sides work 2 sc. in each space of 1 ch.,; on the long
sides work * 2 dc. in next space, 1 dc. in next space *; Repeat from * to
*. End the row with 1 loop in beg. st..
Row 2: 1 sc. in each st. below working a pair of laces every 11-12 cm.;
work 3 pairs on each short side, 5 pairs on each long side and 1 pair at
each corner. For each pair of laces, at the position established, work 50
chs. e return in sc., work 1 st. in each ch., 1 sc. on the edge of the panel,
50 chs. and return in sc. work 1 st. in each ch. At the end, break off and
bind the thread.
