Olga Romanko was born in Moscow, she graduated in singing at the famous Moscow Gnessin
Conservatory, she was the winner of the International Competition in Rio de Janeiro and
subsequently took part in master classes at the Teatro Regio di Parma.
After a successful debut in the role of Musetta (“La Boheme”), Olga Romanko started a
brilliant career portraying the main roles in “Forza del destino”, “Trovatore”, “Pagliacci”,
“Madame Butterfly”, “Falstaff”, “Nozze di Figaro”, “Faust”, “Turandot”, “Ballo in
maschera”, “Aida”, at the opera houses of Moscow, Berlin, Rotterdam, Zurich, Barcelona,
Hamburg, Munich and Parma. She sang Desdemona at the Arena di Verona with Daniel
Oren and made her debut at the Teatro Regio Turin in “Jerusalem”, under the baton of Bruno
Campanella, she performed the title role in Gluck's “Armida” at Staatsoper Hamburg, and
sang in Respighi's “La Fiamma” in Rome.
In Las Palmas she made her debut as Adriana Lecouvreur under the baton of Marco
Armiliato, and sang “Fedora” in Mexico City, Aida and Yolanta at Teatro di San Carlo
Naples, “Trovatore” at Staatsoper Vienna, Aida in Shanghai and Athens directed by Pier
Luigi Pizzi, “Trovatore” in Rotterdam, “Carmen” in Brescia, “Pagliacci” and “Cavalleria” in
New Jersey and Aida at Stade de France in Paris. Olga Romanko performed in “Ballo in
maschera” in Bologna, “Trovatore” in Hamburg, Dvorak's “Wanda” at the Concertgebouw
Amsterdam, Aida in Brescia.
Next contracts included “Trovatore” with Mo. Metha, Aida at Terme di Caracalla in Rome,
Tosca in Munich, Hamburg and Prague, “Pique Dame” in Helsinki, “Ballo in maschera” in
Graz, Tosca in Mexico, Princess in “The Devil and Kate” by Dvorak at the Philarmonie
Cologne with the WDR Orchestra and recording for Orfeo with Mo. Gerd Albrecht.
She sang in Tel Aviv with “Forza del destino”, “Tosca” in Mexico “Francesca da
Rimini” and “Aleko” at Teatro Sao Carlos of Lisbon, “Butterfly” in Palma de Mallorca,
“Aida” at the Terme di Caracalla in Rome and “Sarka” for the Utrecht Festival.
Recent contracts till 2016/17 include Tosca in Helsinki, Lady Macbeth in Rennes, Tosca in
Opera Locarno with Mo. Carlo Palleschi, the “Verdi Requiem” in memory of Luciano
Pavarotti, “Fanciulla del West” in Limoges, Tosca in Torre del Lago, Rusalka in Helsinki,
“Trovatore” in Piacenza and Bolzano, a gala concert with José Cura in Moscow, Suor
Angelica in Helsinki with a new contract for Rusalka. She was heard as Aida” in Pisa and
Fidenza, with “Forza del destino” and Tosca in Antwerp and Gent, as Desdemona in Pisa,
with a recital in Brüssel, in "Ernani" in Ostrava, as Tosca in Bratislava, as Santuzza in
Ceske Budjovice, as Aida in Seoul and in “Ernani” in Munich and"Andrea Chenier" in
Ostrava, 2017 she will sing Aida in Prague.
Her discography includes the recordings of Puccini's “Suor Angelica” for Decca, songs by
Stravinsky for the Belgian Classic Talent label, “Aida”, “Trovatore” and Concerto Verdiano
for Companions, two records of “Verdi Requiem” for Capriccio Digital and Ars Musici, as
well as Dvorak's “Wanda” for Orfeo. New recordings include Stravinsky songs under Belgian
Classic Talent label, “Il Palazzo Incantato” - a baroque opera by Luigi Rossi, and a live
recording in collaboration with Amadeus Magazine.
Olga Romanko gives master classes at the Academy of Music "Giacomo Puccini" La Spezia.
