SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2014: SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dear Friends in Christ,
Cari Amici in Cristo,
I am happy to report that our parish mission is now
set. Fresh from his pastoral work in Haiti, Father Enzo
del Bracco, C.P. will preach a mission on the Our Father during the fourth week of Lent. He will preach at all
the Masses on March 29th-30th, and then hold Monday
and Tuesday, March 31st-April 1st, in Italian and
Wednesday and Thursday, April 2nd-3rd, in English.
Egli predicherà in tutte
le Messe del 29 e del 30 di Marzo e poi terra la
missione in italiano Lunedi, 31 Marzo e Martedì, 1
Aprile, le missione in inglese saranno Mercoledì 2
Aprile e Giovedì, 3 Aprile.
The RCIA/Bible Study will not meet this week
(February 18th) because of winter vacation. It will meet
next on February 25th at the usual time under the guidance of Father Gabriel, who will speak about the Book
of Wisdom. The Bible Study will not meet on March
4th because of the Society of St Vincent de Paul’s
Mardi Gras party at St Patrick, to which everyone is
invited. Please do attend! In March, we cover the Song
of Songs (March 11th – Fr Daniel) and selections from
the Prophets preparation for Holy Week and Easter.
Thank you for your positive response to the Italian
Catechesis. Please feel free to express your preferences
through this weekend. I will make a final decision about
the date by next weekend.
The parish council will meet on Monday, February
24th. If you have any concerns you wish us to address,
please feel free to contact me by email or letter. The parish council advises the pastor on the spiritual needs of
the faithful of the parish and helps him to develop initiatives to respond to said needs. On the agenda already is
the financial health of the parish and new initiatives for
youth ministry.
Finally, the Canons will be away for a few days this
week. Father Matthew will be available for your spiritual needs while we are away having a little rest.
God bless you,
Father Elias
invernale.
Dio Vi Benedica,
Padre Elias

Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the
Cross will be here with his very special ministry to
teach about these holy objects. He will bring with
Him over 150 relics, some as old as 2000 years.
Among the treasures will be relics of St. Maria
Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the “Little Flower"),
St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St.
Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. In
addition, there will also be present a portion of the
veil of Our Lady, as well as one of the largest
remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world.
Those in attendance will be able to examine and
venerate each relic. In the Church’s history many
miracles and healings have been worked in the
presence of relics, and many have been healed
through this ministry.
Please do not miss this opportunity. You are encouraged to bring your articles of devotion (such as
rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/
family members, which you will be able to touch to
the reliquaries as a means of intercession.
See www.treasuresofthechurch.com for more information. If you have any questions, kindly contact
