MYRTÒ PAPATANASIU
Soprano
Born in Larissa (Greece), Myrtò Papatanasiu’s magnificent voice and dazzling stage presence have
established her as a unique international opera singer. Her Rusalka performance was reviewed by New York
Times: “the penetrating soprano Myrto Papatanasiu singing powerful high notes”.
She has established an extraordinary international career, performing regularly on the world’s most
prestigious concert stages and opera houses including Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, Mostly
Mozart Festival of New York, Theater an der Wien, Staatsoper of Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich,
Opernhaus in Zurich, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Bruxelles, Nederlandse Opera of Amsterdam,
Edinburgh International Festival, Opéra de Montecarlo, New National Theatre of Tokyo, Accademia
Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Carlo
Felice di Genova, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Teatro Regio di Torino.
She has worked with such conductors as Roberto Abbado, Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Adam Fischer, Ivan
Fischer, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Alberto Zedda, and with directors as Daniele Abbado, Henning Brockhaus,
Robert Carsen, Pier Luigi Pizzi and Franco Zeffirelli.
She opened the 2015/16 season perfoming as Violetta in La traviata at Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen,
followed by her her company debut with Théâtre des Champs Elysées de Paris as Sifare in Mitridate re di
Ponto by Mozart.
Among her future plans are Simon Boccanegra (Amelia) in Luxembourg, Mitridate re di Ponto (Sifare) in
Dijon and Bruxelles, Alcina (title role) and Simon Boccanegra (Amelia) at De Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp
Alcina (title role) at Wiener Staatsoper, Don Giovanni (Donna Anna) at Théâtre des Champs Elysées de Paris
and Lucio Silla at Teatro Real de Madrid.
She took part in important production included La bohème (Musetta) who marks her New York MET debut,
Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira) at San Diego Opera, Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) and Alcina (title role) at Opéra
National de Paris, La traviata (Violetta) and Don Giovanni (Donna Anna) at Wiener Staatsoper, La traviata at
Dallas Opera (who marks her acclaimed US debut, and for whom she won the “Callas Debut Award 2012”)
and at Opéra de Montréal, Ginevra di Scozia (title role) with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, Iphigénie en
Aulide at Theater and der Wien, Rusalka (ruolo del titolo) at La Monnaie de Bruxelles, La traviata and Tosca
at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
