Ketevan Kemoklidze Mezzo-Soprano In 2002, still a conservatory student, Ketevan Kemoklidze debuted as Maddalena in Rigoletto, Emilia in Otello and title role in Amadigi. Subsequently she appeared at many of the world’s most important opera houses. Particularly known for her portrayal of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Kemoklidze has performed the role at such leading theaters as Deutsche Oper Berlin, Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Opéra National in Montpellier, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Opéra Municipal de Marseille and Washington National Opera. Her most recent engagements include Rosina at Opera de Nice and the Liceu in Barcelona, Pierrotto in Linda di Chamounix at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Carmen at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Mariinsky theatre and Tokyo, Adalgisa at Teatro Real de Madrid, Maddalena at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and La Scala in Milan, Eboli at Teatro Auditorio de El Escorial, Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda at Polish National Opera, Preziosilla at New National Theatre Tokyo and Washington, her Scandinavian debut as Isolier in Le comte Ory at Malmö Opera, Olga in Eugene Onegin at Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, the title role in Berlioz’s La mort de Cleopatre at the Spoleto Festival in Italy, and the title role in La Cenerentola at Los Angeles Opera. Ketevan Kemoklidze is a frequent and welcome guest at Teatro alla Scala, where she has performed in Cosi fan tutte, Ascanio in Alba, Salome, Manon, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and A Midsummer’s Night Dream. She has also appeared in Otello, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Linda di Chamounix, and Faust at the Liceu in Barcelona, in Le nozze di Figaro and L’arbore di Diana at Teatro Real de Madrid, Faust and Thaïs at Teatro Regio di Torino, Le nozze di Figaro at Teatro Municipal de Santiago and Opera de Monte Carlo, Cosi fan tutte and Faust at the Sferisterio Opera Festival in Macerata, Maria Padilla at the Wexford Festival, and Giulio Cesare for her Greek debut at Megaron Thessaloniki. In 2010, Kemoklidze made her successful Royal Opera House debut as Stephano in Romeo et Juliette, and she has since performed the role at Arena di Verona and Teatro La Fenice in Venice. She has also made guest appearances at Oper Graz as Fenena in Nabucco and Princess Clarice in The Love for Three Oranges. Ketevan Kemoklidze has been a prizewinner at many prestigious vocal competitions, including the Placido Domingo Operalia Competition, Concours International de Chant Toulouse, Viñas Competition Barcelona and Belvedere International Competition. A native of Tbilisi, Georgia, Ketevan Kemoklidze received her Master’s Degree at the V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire under Professor G. Kariauli. In 2005, she received an additional Master’s Degree in International Economic Relations. After winning a special prize at the H.G. Belvedere Competition, Kemoklidze was admitted to the Accademia Teatro alla Scala.
