PILIUN DI PADRE PIO - IL PILONE
Questo pilone votivo, recentemente dedicato a Padre Pio, è stato costruito
insieme a quello che incontriamo lungo la vecchia mulattiera poco oltre il
tornante dell’attuale carrozzabile: stesse dimensioni, stessa struttura muraria, stesse maestranze per l’edificazione avvenuta con ogni probabilità
tra gli anni venti e trenta del ‘900.
Commissionato dalla famiglia Villar di Camposoprano rimase al rustico
(senza pitture né decorazione) per molti anni; nel 2001 ne fu commissionato il completamento da Dominique Boschero, abitante della zona affezionata a questo genere di opere.
Si procedette alla revisione del tetto, all’intonacatura fine, alla sistemazione dei camminamenti e degli spazi esterni. Intervenne infine la pittrice
Elena Raviola di Dronero, la quale, preparati i bozzetti ed i modelli di cartone in scala 1:1 procedette con la tecnica dello spolvero a fare il disegno
ed a completare la coloritura.

THE SPOLVERO
It is a special painting technique that allows transferring onto a vertical
surface what has been drawn before on a flat cardboard. With a needle or
a nail small holes are pricked in the outline of the figures. Put in the vertical the cardboard is spolverato (dusted) with a coloured powder that
passes through the holes and leaves the outline of the desired drawing
on the wall.
This old technique accelerates the execution time by preparing the desired
objects in advance.
LO SPOLVERO
E’ una particolare tecnica pittorica che consente di trasferire su una superficie verticale quanto disegnato in piano su di un cartoncino e consiste
nel praticare dei piccoli fori sui contorni delle figure tramite uno spillo o un
chiodo. Posto in verticale il cartone viene spolverato con una polvere colorante che passando attraverso i fori traspone sulla muratura la sagoma
del disegno voluto.
Tecnica antica, consente di accelerare i tempi di esecuzione, preparando
prima i soggetti voluti.
CURIOSITÀ
Non molto lontano è ancora individuabile un’ antica cava di marmo nella
quale la tradizione orale tramandava l’esistenza di alcune colonne di
marmo mai utilizzate per la costruzione della Chiesa Parrocchiale. Anni
addietro si provò a cercare sul posto. Disseppellite dal terreno, ritornarono alla luce quattro magnifiche colonne in marmo bianco con tre basi
lavorate; la quarta non è stata mai rinvenuta.

THE WAYSIDE SHRINE
This wayside shrine, recently dedicated to Padre Pio, was built together
with the one we find along the old mule track shortly after the switchback
of the current road. They have the same dimension, the same wall structure, and the same labourers worked on their construction that most probably took place between the 1920s and 1930s. Commissioned by the family
Villar di Camposoprano it remained al rustico (without paintings or decoration) for many years; in 2001 the completion was commissioned by Dominique Boschero, an inhabitant of the area and fond of this type of works.
The roof was renewed, fine plaster applied, and the ambulatories and the
external spaces repaired. Eventually the painter Elena Raviola of Dronero
partook in the project. After the drafts and models had been prepared in

Not far away an old marble quarry can still be recognized, in which according to oral tradition some marble columns existed that had never been
used for the construction of the parish church. Years ago a search was
begun at the location. Dug up from the earth, four magnificent columns of
white marble and three decorated bases (the fourth was never found),
were brought into the light of day.
