A hilariously funny show/performance based on the history of masks, set in a handicraft’s workshop where the two main characters, the Master and Margherita, are creating masks while the characters evoked by their tale appear on stage. Zorba Officine, Pisa. th 7 pm SUNDAY, August 5 Typical local cuisine with polenta and rabbit “Trentino style”. 9.30 pm BARACCA E BURATTINI (Puppet Show). The Luciano Gottardi company of Trento. Festival in the village and typical local cuisine with polenta and rabbit “Trentino style”. 7 pm LA DANZA BHARATANATYAM (The Bharatanatyam Dance). This dance is one of India’s cultural jewels. The expression of the dancers’ faces, the elegance of every gesture and the complex rhythmic structures make this millenary ritual dance a beautiful and moving experience. MONDAY, August 6th Festival in the village and typical local cuisine with polenta, pork roast and sauerkraut, polenta and sausage Trentino-style with “fasoi embragai” (dressed beans). 7 pm IL CIRCO PIRATA (The Pirate Circus). Tumblers in the vest of Pirates. Street artists, musicians, aerial acrobats, fire eaters “board” the Piazzetta. Associazione Saltinbranco, Bergamo. 7.30 pm TUESDAY, August 7th Festival in the village and typical local cuisine with polenta and mushrooms, polenta and stewed entrails. LA FUGA DI FRA DOLCINO (Fra Dolcino’s Escape). Historical pageant by and with Maura Pettorruso. On stage the events relating to the famous friar Fra Dolcino, one of the most popular and renowned heretics of the 14th century, who lived in hiding in the Cimego hills in Trentino. Trento Spettacoli, Trento. WEDNESDAY, August 8th Festival in the village and typical local cuisine with polenta and sirloin steak country-style. TORTE E BALCONI (Cakes and Balconies). The increasingly successful cake and pie contest returns with its ancient recipes to compete in the squares for the Best Cake Prize, as the balconies compete in turn for the Best Floral Display. The desserts will then be auctioned for charity. The evening is presented by Ciccio d’Arco, Arco THURSDAY, August 9th 7 pm Festival in the village and typical local cuisine with tripe and spit-roast pork. 9 pm I GIULLARI DI CORTE (Court Jesters). They are two but they look like a lot more thanks to their multiple artistic talents as they perform funny and thrilling tricks of magic, juggling, playing with fire, fakir numbers, and a surprising finale. Spettacoli MP, Ravenna 10 pm CONCERT BY THE LAGO DI TENNO CHOIR FRIDAY, August 10th 3.30 pm LE MANI IN PASTA (Hands-On Pottery). A mini-course in pottery for children conducted by Matteo. 7 pm Festival in the village and typical local cuisine with polenta and stockfish. 9.30 pm CON SUONI BALLI E CANTI (Music, Dances and Songs). The show is performed by international artists wearing vintage costumes and playing ancient instruments, in a historical pageant depicting the learned and aristocratic but fully enjoyable and spectacular atmosphere of a noble court feast. La Rossignol, Brescia. SATURDAY, August 11th 3.30 pm LE MANI IN PASTA (Hands-On Pottery). A mini-course in pottery for children conducted by Matteo. 7 pm Typical local cuisine with polenta and pork shank. 9.30 pm IL VOLPONE (The Sly Fox). Liberally adapted from Goldoni’s “The Miser”, the comedy illustrates human misery in its most narrow-minded and ridiculous forms. The play is made even richer by splendid costumes, live music, dances, combats and pantomimes. Kalambur Teatro, Venice. SUNDAY, August 12th 12.30 pm Typical local cuisine with polenta and chicken with “impium”, mock thrushes Trentino-style. 5 pm GIOCHI E PASSATEMPI MEDIOEVALI (Medieval Games and Pastimes). An afternoon dedicated to adults and children alike. 7 pm Festival in the village and typical local cuisine with polenta and chicken with “impium”, mock thrushes Trentino-style. 9.30 pm ALLE RADICI DEL FLAMENCO (The Roots of Flamenco). An evening dedicated to Flamenco in two different forms of expression. The first is the traditional one in which the Flamenco is danced and played according to ancient tradition. The second is an experimental form in which Flamenco is used in a theatrical format in order to narrate and reach the human spirit using an original language. Flamenco unYdos dance company. Each evening the shows will be presented in the courts and districts by the town criers of the L’Arca di Noè association, while the medieval market will be held in the small town squares and under the archways.
