My name is Fabio Roncato I was born in Rimini, June 22, 1982 I moved to Padova where I remain until I graduate to Articstic High Scool Modigliani. In the early 2000s I moved to Milan, where I obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Painting. After a stay in Berlin I’m come back in Veneto, now I live in a town between the province of Padua and Venice where I work and where I completed most of the projects within this portfolio. The work consists of three video divided into horizontal which describing the geometry of migratory birds in flight, taken from home videos on the web. A fascination for the formal balance of poetic force to which every individual Participates in cohesion with the other and without a leader. This work is thought and realized in collaboration with the artist Miriam Secco. https://vimeo.com/83993664 Ottobre / Video loop format AVI , colore 04’06’’ / screenshots / 2013 October / Video loop AVI format, color 4’06’’ / screenshots / 2013 Ottobre / Video loop format AVI , colore 04’06’’ /2013 View of the installation Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, Venice October / Video loop AVI format, color 4’06’’ / 2013 Veduta dell’installazione Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, Venezia 56 Miliardi di animali 56 Billion animals installazione: Modellino in scala di un Panavia PA200 Tornado / Ossa di vitello, manzo e maiale Stampe di fotografie digitali da cellulare, screenshot da Google Maps / 2013 installation: Panavia Tornado PA200 aircraft model / Bones of veal, beef and pork Digital photos from mobile, screenshot from Google Maps 2013 believe that this wasthat the the firstChicago moving packers line everuse installed. This work stems from the observation of techniques of livestock in contemporary society. Henry Ford conceiving the first car assembly line said he was inspired by the early twentieth century industrial slaughterhouses and their revolutionary way of organizing work, reducing a complex process such as the slaughter of an animal into a set of automated and elementary operations. With this installation I try to tell what remains about that revolution and the relationship between today's industrial society and animals. I manually turned the remains of my daily meals into a game, trying to tell about the deep fractures in the alliance between man and animal. The installation path ends with a photographic work made by 30 pictures, depicting industrial slaughterhouses recorded at the Chamber of Commerce and present in the surrounding areas out of which, most likely, come the animals slaughtered. The name of the installation comes from a recent census made by FAO (Food and Drug Administration) that quantifies in 56 billion the animals which are born and die each year inside the slaughterhouses. I thought about this installation during a long stay in my family home in the province of Padua. Looking around between the memories and abandoned stuff inside that house I became interested in a person in particular, my uncle and his habits which marked the daily rhythms of his life without significant changes. The many volumes about the fighter planes describe a photograph of a man who lived a mild and modest life, within a context, the proto-industrial society of the province of Veneto during the eighties, wealthy and bourgeois. The abundant diet and consumption of meat, as well as hobbies and free time, become the new standard of well-being in a society that goes through a profound change of identity. Reducing to a minimum three mechanical processes seemingly distant as the dismemberment of an animal, the preparation of a meal and the construction of a model of aircraft, I want to show as the repetition of everyday gestures and habits compose simple day-to-day existence of a man and how these gestures become part of a territory. These sculptures are born as from the observation of summer insects that live in the countryside. They are common moths which precipitate on the work table involuntarily deciding to be portrayed . Like any good observer I catalogue them, I keep them and sculpt them to finally fit inside a taxidermic case . The silkworm instead represent the history of the house where I’m living in, several rooms were used for the practice of breeding silkworms for the production of raw silk which was obtained by killing the chrysalis before they become moths. I decided to use small adult worms to repopulate the rooms in which they lived in silkworm form, completing their life cycle and giving them the form of an adult moth. Like all species bread for generations by humans, adult silkworms are not able to live freedom, for that reason I decided to let them indoors and in the same rooms where they come from. After retrieving all the dishes I use as palettes for commissioned paintings I made during the year, I thoroughly cleaned the portion necessary to outline the shape of a bird. I thought about this work as a game where you can reverse the rule of painting, deciding previously the subject to portray based on what the pre-existing colors suggest to me. Autorità / 5 foto analogiche / 2012 Authority / 5analogue photos / 2012 The family photographs follow certain formal characteristics which are repeated constantly despite of the author or the date of realization. I tried to bring out the common traces arranging again all the family photos by subject, ignoring their previous chronological order but, above all, remove their original caption that determines an undisputable significance. Rearranging photos through these new standard, the similarities and common traces comes out, such as the composition of the photographs, which seems to be built around the concept of referentiality, showing the deepest values of a family and of an entire society at the same time.
