Here's a review of Milella's album:

Here's another review from Milella's album, originally published in iO Pages:
Quote:
ALEX MILELLA
Light Shades
(NICOLOSI PRODUCTIONS NIC90021/WWW.JAZZOS.COM)
In particolar modo è l'influenza
In

Very entertaining. The solo is a great Phil Miller impression.
Can there be such a thing as an uninintentional tribute? Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome, and BTW, Phil Miller is another favorite axemeister of mine.

Nice one! The intro was more in the Scott McGill/Bill Pohl-vein. Fine solo.

The Slovenian guitarist Vlado Turnsek called one of his tunes "Ghost In Holdsworth House".
You can listen to it on CDBaby.

The John Stevens albums are guilty pleasures for me, because I think Allan's playing on
them is amazing. The only thing that spoils them for me (and it's a big thing) is Stevens'
drumming, which I never liked.
I saw Allan perform with Stevens on a number of occasions in the late 70s (e.g. at The
Plough, Stockwell), and Stevens always appeared to have a very inflated ego, in contrast to
Allan's modesty and shyness.

(I tell a lie. I know you're not supposed to speak ill of the dead, and all that, but the other
thing that bugs me is Stevens' attention-seeking grunting and moaning.)

I'm not sure about this one, but some things are pointing in the direction of a tribute. The
Swedish Mats/Morgan Band just released their 7th album, called Thanks For Flying With Us.
It's their first album that is published by a label outside Sweden and that honour goes to
Cuneiform Records.
In interviews the main musicians of the band, Mats Öberg (keyboard) and Morgan Ågren,
have often stated that Allan Holdsworth is one of their favourite artist. Recently Morgan told
that Bruford's One of A Kind is one of his top-albums of all time (together with Romantic
Warrior and Heavy Metal Bebop). Well, anyway, one of the tracks on this new CD is called

Warrior and Heavy Metal Bebop). Well, anyway, one of the tracks on this new CD is called
Allan In The Rain. Although it's not containing fluent guitar-solo's (the lead instrument is a
zurna - a Turkish reed instrument) it's possible that it is a tribute, especially because the
band often uses chords and chord-changes which are familiar with Allan's. Interesting album
by the way. A kind of a modern mixture between the European progressive jazz-rock from
the seventies (Bruford, National Health), Zappa's Jazz From Hell (synclavier-like sounds), a
jazz-rock incarnation of Gentle Giant and rhythm-based electronic music.
