assione, determinazione, rompere le regole, il
piacere di rispecchiarsi nella propria casa, nelle
avventure che si intraprendono, in ciò che si
crea. Questo numero di maMa può riassumersi
con questa sola frase. È un numero speciale per
noi perché il fil rouge che lega ogni servizio è un
valore semplice quanto essenziale: sognare in
grande e vivere (anche controcorrente, se necessario) i propri sogni
mettendoci l’anima. Questo maMa sprigiona energia e personalità:
case vere che fanno stare bene, fasti floreali di giardini, essenze e
fashion, sogni realizzati e condivisi. Vedrete (ce lo auguriamo) che
il bello è nel processo creativo individuale, passionale e unico che
ognuno di noi può adottare per coniare il proprio (bellissimo) stile.

reflecting oneself in a home, in the undertaken adventures, in
what is created. This issue of maMa can be summed up with
this only phrase. It’s a special issue for us because the common
element that links every article is a simple but essential value:
dream big and live your own dreams putting your soul into it (if necessary also
against all odds). This maMa emanates energy and personality: true homes
that make feel good, gardens of floral splendor, scents and fashion, achieved
and shared dreams. You will see (we do hope) that beauty is in the individual,
passionate, unique and creative process that each one of us can make their own

Mai, a guardare questa boutique floreale
il cui nome, “Bloemen”, è la parola fiori
in olandese, si direbbe di trovarsi a Roma.
Eppure questo negozio si trova nel cuore
della città. Il simbolo è un soffione:
“espressione di un desiderio”, racconta
Claudio, ideatore dello shop con un
passato nel settore dell’abbigliamento.
In effetti Bloemen è un desiderio, quello
di abbandonarsi alle proprie passioni,
inseguito e realizzato. Il locale è piccolo
e colmo di dettagli: fiori inusuali e difficili
da trovare dal portamento selvaggio
e naturale, cortecce, rami distorti, muschi,
candele, profumi, oggetti antichi, ritratti,
tantissime rose (il fiore favorito
di Claudio) e culmina con una orangerie
dallo stile spiccatamente francese,
utilizzata come laboratorio creativo
per la realizzazione delle composizioni.
“Si possono acquistare fiori recisi,
composizioni già fatte o da assemblare
a seconda della personalità
e dello stile del destinatario”.
By observing this boutique flower shop
called Bloemen, the Dutch word for blooms,
you would never expect to find yourself in
Rome. But this shop is actually in the center
of the city. The logo is a dandelion:
“expression of desire”, says Claudio,
designer and owner of the shop and with a
working background in the fashion section.
Bloemen is indeed a desire, that one of
following each one’s passions, followed up
and achieved. The shop is small but full of
exquisite details: unusual and hard to find
flowers with a natural and wild pose, barks,
twisted branches, moss, candles, perfumes,
old objects, portraits, plenty of roses
(Claudio’s favourite flower) ending up
with a typical french style winter garden,
used as a creative lab for the flower
arrangements. “It’s possible to buy
cut flowers and ready made
or custom arrangements”.

Il décor, realizzato dalla decoratrice
Vanessa Scoffier, è unico e fra colori e
papier peint, letture, fiori e musica,
mobili vintage e contemporanei fa
sentire veramente a casa. D’altra
parte, l’arredamento altro non è che
l’assemblamento di vari elementi
collezionati e scovati dalla decoratrice
e di oggetti che rappresentano le sue
passioni. L’ingresso, dove trova posto
la reception, è concepito come un
salotto domestico. Declinato nei toni
del blu, è arredato con poltrone Knoll,
un divano Ligne Roset e tavoli firmati
Pierre Guariche sui quali poggiano
libri e riviste di decorazione.

The decor, created by Vanessa Scoffier,
is unique and, amongst wallpaper and
colours, flowers and music, vintage and
modern furniture, it makes you feel at
home. On the other hand, the
furnishings are nothing else but the
assembly of various elements and
objects discovered and collected by the
decorator,that represent her passions.
The entrance,where the reception
stands, is imagined as a domestic living

È indubbio: creare una casa è un’arte.
Non è una questione di possibilità
economica, ma di inventiva e stile,
da una parte, e propensione all’accoglienza
e alla condivisione, dall’altra. E Antonio
e Alessandro quest’arte la posseggono.
Un po’ per vocazione, essendo entrambi
dediti al loro b&b Quartopiano e al loro
ristorante Mon Cafè, un po’ per cultura
e gusto. Entrambi appassionati di décor
e arredamento, intraprendono
regolarmente viaggi verso la Provenza
e promenade in atelier di artisti, mercati
di antiquariato e store di tendenza
in cerca di mobili e oggetti che poi utilizzano
per la casa, per il b&b o per il ristorante.

for furniture and objects that is then used for the
house, the b&b or the restaurant. The result of such
sourcing is a unique and eclectic style that spans from
shabby to design from vintage to industrial.

all’architetto. L’ingresso, conserva il ricordo di essere
stato terrazzo e trasmette un flair da giardino di
inverno. “Le aperture non sono celate da tendaggi né
disturbate da corpi di calore che si trovano, infatti, sul
soffitto e sono appena visibili”, racconta Antonio
guidandoci passo passo alla scoperta della casa.
The flat in Modena is the epitome. Created from the
union of two tiny flats and from the adding of the
terrace, this apartment is really tailor made and
every centimeter is incredibly optimized thanks to
the solutions sourced by the owners and the
architect. The entryway reminds us of its terrace
origin by passing on a winter garden flair.

“The openings are not hidden by curtains nor
disturbed by radiators which are instead hidden on
the ceiling and are just slightly visible”, Antonio tells
us taking us around discovering the home.
“The cupboards are completely invisible, in the lower
level of the flat, and the laundry area is literally
hidden behind a bookcase in the corridor”, explains
Antonio, after a restyling of the living area.
Everything flows in this flat and the changes follow
one another with enthusiasm. The living room,
originally white, has recently been painted with a
fascinating grey colour - Flamant’s Elephant - that
makes the room’s industrial elements stand out: a
weathered handcrafted metal storage piece, iron
frames with no weldings, blacksmith work tables and
stools. And it all blends well with the wooden
furniture. “I want to give the living area an industrial
and a vintage Scandinavian design twist and this
paint colour seems to create the atmosphere and
make everything blend in”, says Antonio.

“Totalmente invisibili sono gli armadi, a muro e ricavati
nelle parti più basse dell’appartamento, e la lavanderia
letteralmente nascosta dietro una libreria in corridoio”
spiega Antonio, “reduce” da un restyling della zona
giorno della casa. Tutto è fluido in quest’appartamento
e i cambiamenti si susseguono con entusiasmo.
La zona giorno, originariamente bianca, è stata
recentemente ridipinta con un affascinante grigio
- Elephant di Flamant- che esalta gli elementi
industriali dell’ambiente: un mobile contenitore
artigianale in metallo invecchiato, cornici in ferro
senza saldature, i bancali da fabbro e sgabelli.
E che si abbina in modo originale ai mobili di legno.
“Vorrei dare al living un twist industriale e di design
scandinavo vintage e questo colore mi sembra
adatto a creare atmosfera e un punto di unione
fra tutto”, racconta Antonio.

Dalla zona giorno tramite due aperture si arriva
in cucina. È una cucina comoda e funzionale, adatta
a ricevere e chiacchierare mentre si prepara la cena
con un’isola centrale ampia in pietra naturale (Boffi),
una cantinetta in ferro e le illuminazioni (Viabizzuno)
collocate in diversi punti della stanza.
Punto di forza di quest’ambiente è frutto dell’estro
creativo di Alessandro che ha convertito una tavola
da cantiere in mensola sospesa sui fuochi e ha posto
sotto una campana di vetro le posate d’antan.

From the living you can access the kitchen through
two openings. It’s a comfortable and practical
kitchen, perfect for chatting while preparing dinner
on the big stone kitchen island (Boffi), with an iron
cantinette and the light fixtures around the area
(Viabizzuno). The focal point of this whole setting is
from Alessandro’s creative inspiration, he converted
a working plank into a floating shelf above the
stovetop and he placed the vintage cutlery
underneath glass domes.

A Marrakech, nel mezzo di un oliveto
Maryam e la sua famiglia trovano la loro

Ingredienti per 2 persone
200 g di cavolfiore bianco
50 g di asparagi
1 carota
olio extravergine d’oliva fruttato leggero
sale
Preparazione
Lavate il cavolfiore e tagliate le cime
più belle. Utilizzando un frullatore
oppure un coltello riducete il cavolo
a piccolissimi pezzettini, questo
lo renderà simile ad un couscous.
Lavate e pelate la carota
e frullate anche questa.
Mescolate il couscous di cavolfiore
con la carota e aggiungete
gli asparagi tagliati a sottili rondelle.
Condite il tutto con olio e sale.

Ingredients
(2 people)
200 gm of white cauliflower
50 gm of asparagus
1 carrot
delicate and fruity extravirgin
olive oil
salt
Wash the cauliflower and cut the
nicest florets. Using a blender
or a knife cut the florets until they
become like couscous.
Wash and peel the carrot
and blend it also.
Mix the cauliflower couscous
and the blended carrot
and add the finely cut asparagus.
Season with olive oil and salt.

Lavate le carote e pelatele.

e tagliatene via le punte.
Con l’apposito strumento
è possibile tagliare
le zucchine e a fili, se non

listarelle. A parte,
emulsionate lo yogurt
con olio e sale.
A piacimento,
può essere aggiunta anche
della tahina al condimento
oppure un poco di burro
d’arachidi. Ottenuta
una salsa ben amalgamata,

e con la salsa ottenuta.

2 bio zucchini, Roman type
4-5 cherry tomatoes
delicate and fruity
extravirgin olive oil
1 cup natural yoghurt
salt
Wash and peel the carrots.
Wash and trim the zucchini.
Using a spiralizer cut the
vegetables into noodles.
If not, cutting them julienne
will be fine also.
On the side, mix the yoghurt
with oil and salt. If wanted,
some tahini or peanut butter
can be added also.
Dress the vegetable noodles
with the cherry tomatoes

Il Centro Botanico Moutan è il giardino
che con i suoi quindici ettari raccoglie
la più ricca collezione di peonie al mondo.
Fra erbacee e arboree si contano circa
duecentomila esemplari e seicento varietà di piante
con una fioritura costante fino alla fine di maggio.
Tutt’intorno profuma e i colori incantano,
ma la poesia di questo giardino è ancora più
profonda del fascino della peonia e della bellezza
del desiderio di un ingegnere di conoscere e far
conoscere tutte le varietà di peonie esistenti.

The Centro Botanico Moutan is a 15 hectare garden
that holds the richest collection of peonies in the
world. Amongst the herbaceous and tree varieties
there are two hundred thousand specimens and six
hundred plants with a continuous flowering until the
end of May. The air is filled with their scent
and their colours mesmerize, but the true poetry of
this garden is deeper than the beauty of the peony
itself and of the beautiful desire of an engineer
that well knows the plants and wants to make
everyone know them too.

Qui, è stato svolto un lavoro straordinario:
è stato eseguito uno dei temi estetici
e poetici più importanti che l’uomo possa
fare, quello di dare un nome alle cose.
A ogni peonia è stato, infatti, dato
un nome combinando la traduzione
del termine corrispondente cinese
e la ricostruzione della sua origine.
È un’emozione autentica camminare
fra le peonie attraverso sentieri
e passaggi avvolti nel glicine fino
ad arrivare al punto più alto del giardino
dal quale ammirare la vastità e la varietà
della coltivazione. Le panchine
disseminate qua e là nel giardino, la bella
fontana in pietra e un caffè dagli arredi
colorati permettono di prendersi tutto
il tempo per assaporare la bellezza
del luogo e avventurarsi in pensieri
ispirati. Così, qui, dove il ritmo delle cose
è così determinante, il tempo si dilata.

the stone made fountain and a colourful
coffee shop offer all the time needed to
enjoy the garden’s beauty and to
daydream. So here, where the rythm of

second hand objects and the
art of calligraphy all meet in

element of the whole day, passed

La “scusa” di quest’incontro è la nuova
collezione di fragranze “Il giardino
prezioso” di Raffaella ispirata all’estate
con le profumazioni al papavero odoroso,
originale e raffinato, alla ginestra selvatica,
emblema del sole e della bella stagione,
e alla camelia, essenza quest’ultima tanto
raffinata quanto rara e preziosa.
“Ogni fragranza nasce dalla ricerca degli oli
essenziali più pregiati, persistenti e rari”,
racconta Raffaella”. Le creazioni profumate
sono incastonate nelle rivisitazioni creative
di Elena che con le sue reinterpretazioni
conferisce una seconda e inaspettata vita
agli oggetti del passato. La preziosità
del fatto a mano è celebrata fino in fondo.
Il tratto di Elisa si è posato come
una farfalla su ogni cosa: su leggeri drappi
di stoffa, su carta e tag, persino sulle foglie.

the warm weather and its camelia,

“Each scent is created by sourcing the
finest, persistent and rarest essential oils”
says Raffaella.
These perfumed creations are placed
amongst Elena’s creative reinterpretations
giving old objects a new and unexpected
life. The preciousness of handmade is
celebrated to the core. Elisa’s handwritten
stroke rests like a butterfly on each object:
on airy textile pieces, on paper and tags,
even on leaves.

Ricotta fresca
Latte
Zucchero semolato
Essenza di vaniglia
Passate al setaccio la ricotta,
poi lavoratela a crema con lo zucchero,
qualche goccia di essenza di vaniglia
e un po’ di latte. Riempite le coppette
di cioccolato facendo attenzione
a non romperle. Disponete la frutta lavata
e asciugata e tenete in fresco
fino al momento di servire.
Chocolate cups with berries
Ingredients
1 packet of mixed fresh berries
(strawberries, redcurrants and blueberries)
Ready made chocolate cups
Fresh ricotta cheese
Milk
Sugar
Vanilla essence
Work the ricotta through a sieve and mix it
with the sugar, the vanilla essence and little
milk to make it creamy. Fill up the chocolate
cups with the ricotta cream, taking care of
not breaking the cups. Place the washed
and dried berries on top and keep
refrigerated until serving time.
Gelo al limone
Ingredienti
4 limoni grandi non trattati
provenienti da coltivazioni biologiche
150 g di zucchero
40 g di amido di mais
50 cl di acqua
Grattugiate la parte gialla della
buccia dei limoni, facendo
attenzione a non intaccare
quella bianca che darebbe
un sapore amaro alla preparazione.
Prendete un fazzoletto bianco
pulito e riunite la buccia
grattugiata. Immergetelo
nell’acqua che userete
per la ricetta e spremetelo
ripetutamente in modo che
trasferisca il profumo e il colore
al liquido. Aggiungete l’amido
di mais e lo zucchero.
Versate il tutto in un pentolino
e portate a bollore a fuoco dolce
mescolando continuamente
finché il composto non risulterà
addensato, poi versatelo
in coppette di vetro individuali.
Lasciate intiepidire e tenete
in frigo per qualche ora.
Servite fresco.
Parfait ai mirtilli
Ingredienti
Mirtilli freschi
Yogurt greco al naturale
(1% di contenuto di grassi)
Fiocchi d’avena bio
Zucchero o malto di cereali
Lavorate in una ciotola lo yogurt,
aggiungendo se lo desiderate
un po’ di zucchero o di malto
di cereali. Lavate e asciugate
i mirtilli. In un barattolo di vetro,
alternate strati di yogurt, mirtilli
freschi e fiocchi d’avena.
Terminate con lo yogurt
e guarnite con qualche mirtillo.
Tenete in fresco
fino al momento di servire.
Lemon Ice
Ingredients
4 big organic lemons
150 gm of sugar
40 gm of cornstarch
50 cl of water
Finely grate the lemon zest, taking
care not to grate the white part as it
will give a bitter taste. Put the grated
zest into a clean white cotton
handkerchief closing the corners,
place the handkerchief in the recipe
water and squeeze it many times
until it colours and gives aroma to
the water. Add the cornstarch and
the sugar. Pour the mixture into a
saucepan a bring to the boil mixing
continually until it thickens and then
pour it into single glass cups. Let cool
and keep in the fridge for a few hours.
Serve cool.
Blueberry parfait
Ingredients
Fresh blueberries
Low fat Greek yoghurt
Organic oats
Sugar or cereal malt
In a bowl, work the yoghurt adding
some sugar or cereal malt, if you
wish. Wash and dry the blueberries.
In a glass jar alternate the yoghurt,
the blueberries and the oats.
Finish with the yoghurt
and decorate with some blueberries.
Keep in the fridge until serving time.

Wholemeal bread with
sunflower seeds
Spreadable fresh cheese
Fresh strawberries, blueberries
and redcurrants
Caramel topping
Wash and dry the berries with
kitchen paper. Spread the fresh

off with the caramel topping
(the ready to use kind for ice cream).

“Mummy, why don’t you make me a dress?”.
It all comes from a small simple question that a
daughter (Margot) asks her super creative mum
(Mirtia). A natural and justified question because
Margot is the first hand witness of Mirtia’s hours
passed sewing dresses for her Doll’s Sisters
dollies, amongst ribbons and fabrics. Mirtia
accepts the challenge, finding motivation and
balance in her creations. So Piccola sartoria
romantica, a collection of little girls dresses in
floral printed cotton, is born. Margot is obviously
the first to model and testimonial of the dress
line. Together with her friend Vittoria and all
dressed up, the two girls played up to open air
girly afternoon, tea included. The finishing touch
to the dresses are Arianna Ortolani’s flower
headbands. Also handmade, they are headbands
with a leather braided base to which are applied
ribbons and fabric made flowers.
“Mamma, perché non fai un vestito per me?”.
Tutto nasce da questa piccola semplice domanda che una figlia
(Margot) fa alla sua super-creativa mamma (Mirtia). Una domanda
lecita e naturale, visto che Margot, fra nastri e stoffe, è testimone
diretta delle ore passate da Mirtia a disegnare e a cucire gli abitini per
le sue bambole Dolls'S Sister. Mirtia, che trova nell’espressione
creativa equilibrio e motivazione, accetta la sfida. Così nasce Piccola
sartoria romantica, la collezione di abitini per bimbe in cotone a
stampa floreale. Prima testimonial e modella di questa linea è
naturalmente Margot. Insieme all’amichetta Vittoria e vestite di tutto
punto, le due bimbe hanno inscenato un classico e ideale pomeriggio
da “ragazze” con tanto di tè en plein air. I vestitini sono coronati
(è proprio il caso di dirlo) dai cerchietti floreali di Arianna Ortolani.
Anch’essi handmade, i cerchietti sono realizzati su una base di pelle
intrecciata sulla quale sono applicati nastri e preziosi fiori di stoffa.

Declinato secondo tre diverse palette (il rosso,
rosa, bianco; il verde, turquoise, bianco; il lillà, viola
e bianco) il country wedding progettato da Claudia
Giardino ha un twist vintage e allegro.
“Per questo matrimonio, ho recuperato bricchi
in latta smaltata, vecchi annaffiatoi e catini in zinco,
centrini fatti a mano, tovaglie crochet della nonna
perché credo nel potere evocativo degli oggetti
con una storia”, racconta Claudia. Bandierine
floreali, gli acchiappasogni bohémien, i menu
con ghirlande acquerellate, le insegne in legno
e tanti fiori di campo sono il tocco allegro
e contemporaneo di quest’allestimento.

Using three different colour palettes
(red, pink, white; green, turquoise, white; lilac, purple,
white) Claudia Giardino’s country wedding project
has a vintage and cheerful twist.
“For this wedding I gathered painted enamel jugs, old
zinc watercans and basins, handmade doilies,
grandma's crocheted tablecloths because I believe in
the evocative power of objects that have a story
behind them”, says Claudia.
Floral banners, bohemien dreamcatchers, menus
with watercoloured wreaths, wooden signs
and lots of wild flowers are the happy and modern
touch to this event.

bianchi per abbellire tutto.

special with the wooden Mr & Mrs
signs, the floral banners,
and the vintage cutlery and plates
that are placed on top of rose
coloured old doilies.
The printed menus on the plates
represent the decorative floral
element and they coordinate with
the wedding announcements and
the table signs.
For the drinks and cocktail table
painted enamel jugs and buckets,
a green turquoise colander filled with
wild flowers, lemonade and drink
dispensers have been used.
