Leonardo was born in Terni and trained in singing under Carlo
Guidantoni. He also studied acting with director Rita Riboni and
appeared in several plays including A Sip of Earth by H.Böll, All My
Robots by Asimov and An Angel Came to Babylon by Dürrenmatt.
In 2001 he was a finalist in the Corradetti Competition in Padova, won
the Belli Competition in Spoleto and made his debut at the Teatro Caio
Melisso with Il mondo della Luna by F.J.Haydn (Bonafede). For several
years he sang bass roles in several operas by Donizetti, Don Pasquale
and L’elisir d’amore, Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia and L’Italiana in
Algeri, Puccini’s La Bohème and Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.
In 2005 he began to sing as a baritone under Alain Billard, won the Titta
Ruffo Competition in Pisa, appeared at the Miskolc Festival in L'Italiana
in Algeri, at the Roman Theatre in Taormina in Madama Butterfly by
G.Puccini and at the Teatro Piccinni in Bari as Fiorello in Il Barbiere di
Siviglia directed by Steven Mercurio. In subsequent seasons he sang
the leading role in Don Pasquale and Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at the
Teatro della Fortuna in Fano, Morales in Carmen at the Teatro
Politeama in Catanzaro and at the Teatro Cilea in Reggio Calabria.
In 2006 he won the audience prize at the Corradetti Competition in
Padova and in 2007 won the Toti dal Monte Competition, making his
debut as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte by Mozart in Treviso and
Pordenone. In 2008 he appeared at the Teatro Sociale in Como for the
Pocket Opera production of La Cenerentola by Rossini (Dandini) and in
Como, Brescia, Cremona, Pavia, Reggio Calabria and Catanzaro in two
separate productions of Turandot (Ping).
He is particularly interested in sacred music. His repertoire includes the
Krönungsmesse, the Missa Brevis and the Requiem by Mozart, The
Messiah by Händel and Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, performed
with such prestigious ensembles as I solisti in Perugia, Accademia
Hermans in Terni, Cappella Musicale in Assisi and Istituzione Sinfonica
Abruzzese. His most recent commitments include Die Fledermaus by
J.Strauss (Franck) with Oliver Von Dohnanji and Werther by J.Massenet
(Albert) with Alain Guingal in Catanzaro, L’elisir d’amore (Belcore) at
the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo and at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste,
Lucia di Lammermoor (Enrico) and The Merry Widow (Baron Zeta) in
Reggio Calabria, Koukourgi by Cherubini in Klagenfurt, The Barber of
Seville by Paisiello in Sassari and Gemma di Vergy by Donizetti (Guido)
at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo. At Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino he
sang in Gianni Schicchi (main role), Orfeo all’Inferno by Offenbach
(Giove) and L’amour des tres Oranges (Pantalone), in Bergamo Il
Furioso all’isola di San Domingo di Donizetti and Don Giovanni
(Leporello) at the Teatro Sociale in Como.

Lombardo, La Fanciulla del West in Milan, Il Signor Bruschino in
Lausanne, Don Pasquale in Biel, Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Saint-Cére.
