MASS INTENTIONS
‘An earthy, gutsy love’
‘We mustn't lose sight of the source of
Jesus' prophetic ministry. Jesus doesn't raise up the widow's son because
that will prove to the people that he's
a prophet; he doesn't do it for himself
at all – he does it for her.
‘We are told “when the Lord
saw her, he had compassion on her”.
The Greek word that St Luke uses for feeling compassion is a favourite of mine: splankhnizomai, which
comes from the word for guts – Jesus is “gutted” for
her, his bowels are twisted up with sorrow and pity at
her plight, for she has been left destitute as well as
grieving, utterly alone and without anyone to love her.
‘No wishy-washy “feeling sorry”, this, but an
earthy, gutsy love. It is the love of someone who suffers when he sees another suffering, like a mother suffers, almost physically, when her child is in pain. That
is what drives Jesus forward on his journey to his own
death, and that is the source of his prophetic ministry.
This man of pity, this man who is driven by love of his
fellow man, this is our God, the Lord of all.’

Celebration are preparing a memorable
evening with a Gala Dinner, Friday,
June 21, 2013, at Speranza Banquet
Hall, 510 Deerhurst Dr. Brampton, Ontario. The evening will start promptly at
6:00 pm with Antipasto Bar followed by
an Elegant Dinner and Open Bar. Everyone is invited. Tickets are $75.00
each and you can pick them up after
each weekend Mass at the main entrance of the church or at
the parish office.

It has been a wonderful time to rejoice and celebrate our
65th Anniversary of the Parish this year but also it is time to
spin our heads on the continuing problem on our roof. I just
want to update you on the latest information about our roof
problem. There are three jobs that needed to be done as
soon as possible.
1. Replacing the flat roof
Estimated Project cost—$102,434.50
2.
Replacing the old AC unit with more efficient one.
Estimated Project Cost—$151,420.00
3.
Damaged ceiling inside the church.
Estimated Project cost -$ 19,416.80
The Catholic Mutual Canada Insurance will pay half of the
Pilgrimage
cost of the ceiling job—$9708.40

Incontrando il corteo funebre, Gesù,
che si trova sul suo tragitto, è commosso dal pianto inconsolabile della
madre. “Vedendola, il Signore ne
ebbe compassione e le disse: Non
piangere”. Due parole vere, di consolazione umana, che scaturiscono dal
cuore colmo di misericordia dell’Uomo
-Dio. Quale fiducia ci deve dare
l’amore del Signore! Davanti alla
nostra lotta per essere cristiani migliori, nella quale noi commetteremo
talvolta degli errori e dei peccati, se questi ci fanno soffrire come soffriva il cuore di quella madre -, il Signore avrà anche
per noi misericordia. Dal canto nostro, dobbiamo imparare a
guardarci intorno e ad accogliere le chiamate che Dio ci
manda attraverso il nostro prossimo. Non possiamo vivere
rinchiusi negli stretti limiti dell’egoismo, voltando le spalle alle
situazioni di molte persone che hanno bisogno del nostro
aiuto. Il giovane si alzò, e il suo corpo che era divenuto cadavere sentì che la vita scorreva nuovamente nelle sue vene.
Capiterà lo stesso molto spesso nell’apostolato, perché il
Signore è sempre disposto a rifare miracoli come quello di
Nain: anime che “risusciteranno” alla vita cristiana. Quando
Cristo passa tra gli uomini, se lo sappiamo portare con noi,
molti occhi vedono di nuovo, molte orecchie ascoltano la parola di Dio e anime morte rinascono a una vita nuova per
mezzo del sacramento della penitenza.
