ART MEETS SCIENCE AND THE ENERGY OF ACTION
A “TERRITORY-UNIVERSE” RETURN TICKET
The symbiosis between art, science and society has represented for centuries an
important force in the progress of humanity. That is why THE ENERGY OF
PLACES project wishes to recapture this interaction and propose in a
contemporary key an experiment to explore the relationship between art, science
and the territory within a perspective of development and sustainability.
THE ENERGY OF PLACES is a special survey/seminar which, through encounters
with physicists, scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs resident in the Friuli Venezia
Giulia Region and in particular in the Municipalities of Duino Aurisina and Trieste,
which aims at attracting attention to as well as interest in the various “energies”
that exist in our territory, with special reference to the links between
scientific/creative thought, global/local reality and future vision.
This is an initial “appointment with the territory” which, it is hoped, will become
an annual events with ever new participants.
The program of THE ENERGY OF PLACES envisages a seminar (participation is
gratis and open to all) visual art exhibitions, concerts and performances. There is
also an international contest of visual art “Memories of the war, memories of
peace and a vision of the future” which includes a special collection (in
collaboration with the people living in the territory) of “photographs of weddings”
that took place in the years after the Second World War up to the sixties when,
after the devastation of the War, mankind rediscovered “energy” and hope for the
future, thanks also to the construction of new family nuclei.
THE ENERGY OF PLACES also presents an exhibition PIACERE DI CONOSCERTI |
DOBRODOŠEL PRIJATELI | NICE TO MEET YOU, in collaboration with the inhabitants
of the small center of Villaggio del Pescatore (Duino Aurisina), and the immigrants
who are their guests, which is based on a project aimed at promoting dialogue
and integration.
Last but not least, THE ENERGY OF PLACES, with an exhibition of photographic
posters, THE COLOR OF PLACES 2015 (taken during the creative itinerary FROM
TIGLIO DI MONRUPINO TO GELSO DEI FABIANI), in collaboration with the
FONDAZIONE FABIANI, KOBDILJ – ŠTANJEL, proposes a cultural encounter between
the Municipality of Duino and the neighboring Municipality of Comeno|Komen
(Slovenia).

The exhibition of photographic posters represents the successive phase of the
creative itinerary “From Tiglio di Monrupino to Gelso dei Fabiani organized by the
photographer Massimo Goina and the nature guide Leandra Bucconi. The project
is in collaboration with the architect Blanka Malgaij of the FONDAZIONE ABIANI
di KOBDILJ – ŠTANJEL and proposes a cultural encounter between the
Municipality of Duino Aurisina and the neighboring Municipality of Comeno/Komen
(Slovenia).
The exhibition will be shown again at the CASA DELLA PIETRA di AURISINA

A project in relations revolving round the immigrants who are being put up by the
Villaggio del Pescatore. The young immigrants were invited to take photos on
their cell phones of their guest territory and assemble a collection of images
which will be exhibited. There will also be the intervention of some the people of
the village and of some of their young guests.

Encounter and conversation with
MARINA COBAL, Italian representative of the ATLAS experiment at Cern,
Geneva, collaborator in 2012 of the team of physicists who discovered the Higgs
Boson, director of the “ Guideline School of sources of renewable energy”
organized by the universities of Udine and Trieste.
MASSIMO GOINA has been involved in graphic design and photography for the
last twenty years and works for national and International institutions in the
publishing sector.
BLANKA MALGAJ, architect and director of the FABIANI Farm of Kobdilj, Štanjel –
San Daniele del Carso (Slovenia). Member of the Municipal Commission for
agriculture, tourism, the natural and cultural heritage and international relations
of the Komen-Comeno Municipality (Slovenia).

HANS GRASSMANN, German physicist who has worked on elementary particles,
member of the team that discovered the quark top, scholar and experimenter in
the field of sustainable energy, founder of the academic spin-off (University of
Udine) ISOMORPH Ltd – Linear Mirror and Solar Pyrolysis
FABIOLA FAIDIGA, visual artist and President of CASA C.AV. E., presents a project
in collaboration with Hans Grassman for the communication of renewable energy
and introduces the visual art competition “Memories of war, memories of life, and
a vision of the future”
MARIJA BRECELJ, Culture councilor of the Municipality of Duino Aurisina,
recounts her experience as a public administrator as an occasion for personal
growth and commitment to the community
ROBERTO CERAOLO, Mayor of Sacile (PN) along with FEDERICO VARUTTI,
General Secretary of the Municipality of Sacile, will introduce the conference that
the Municipality, together the University of Udine, organized with the aim of
discussing the experimentation of Solar Pyrolisis within a context of research,
development and sustainability.

PAOLO SALUCCI, professor at the International School of Advanced Studies
(Sissa), will discuss the territories of the universe and dark material
LUIGI TOLOTTI, artist and photographer from Trieste whose research ranges
from photoengraving, experimental matrixes, pinhole photography and digital
elaboration.
FABIO PAHOR, entrepreneur, delegated administrator of the Tenuta Nobile Castel
Duino Ltd and founder of the Azienda Agricola Kohisce, will outline the project of
development of the territory and the reclamation of the historic center Case
Kohisce on the slopes of Monte Ermada
DARIO MARINI, historian and expert on the Great War, belongs to the FLONDAR
Speleological Group and will talk about the importance of Monte Ermada and of
Punta Bratina during the battles of the Isonzo

I.C.A. – Trieste has hundreds of National and International projects to her credit
and will present the program of the exhibition “Art/Science/Biotechnology
KAARTIK, artistic performer of international experience is active in Italy with the
ECSTATIC DANCE project and will talk about interplanetary evolution, global
thought and local action
CHIARA VIDONI, lecturer in Humanities at The United World College of Duino
and director of the Giuseppe Verdi Civic Wind Orchestra of Trieste, will outline the
activities of the United World College and talk about its commitment to
supporting the territory.
MATEJ LUPINC, a young wine grower and wine-making expert of Prepotto,
enthusiast of sustainable techniques and prize-winner of Slow Food. Backed by an
age-old family tradition, he will talk about his company with its production of fine
wines and the development of the territory.

BharaTech | KAARTIK
BharaTech is the journey of a body of light between the dimensions of time and
space. Sacred geometry and technological virtuosity come together in a flux of
rhythmic articulated movements. The classical dance of the Hindu tradition finds
inedited correspondences with the video animation of the Vimana: the flying
temples of the gods in the ancient land of Barata lasting 10 minutes
