I piccoli oblò tondi che costellano lo scafo creano giochi di luce fantasmagorici negli ambienti interni A flowing lines project where the external have found a perfect match with the interiors. The little round portholes which stud the hull create phantasmagoric light effects inside by Maria Roberta Morso Bart Bouwhuis e Marnix Hoekstra, direttori creativi di Vripack. To obtain the continuity between exterior and interior, the designers have created huge glass surfaces in the whole ambience. Bart Bouwhuis and Marnix Hoekstra, creative directors at Vripack. The huge glass surfaces to the ceiling are interrupted only by thin carbon pillars. Forma e funzione si integrano esaltandosi reciprocamente mentre i materiali usati nell’arredo BARCHE Luglio 2015//July 2015 contribuiscono a creare atmosfere rilassanti. The Dutch design and naval engineering studio Vripack has presented the FLOW projects which are characterized by the 88 BARCHE Luglio 2015//July 2015 fact that the fluidity is not limited to the design, but it also refers to the creative flow of ideas which has led to their definition, to the exchange of information between owners and designers, to the continuity between different spaces and between the outside world and habitable environments. The same concept has been split into two sizes, 44 and 51 meters, both designed with fluid lines and the constant search for a total continuity between the external environment and the living spaces of the yacht. The goal as stated by the spokesmen of the Dutch studio is very ambitious: “A good design should not only meet the expectations, it should overcome them, being able to go beyond!” Affirms Marnix Hoekstra who, alongside Bart Bouwhuis, is Sul FLOW 51m, a poppa del ponte principale, una Beach House interamente a vetri consente di ammirare il panorama anche quando fuori fa troppo caldo o troppo freddo. At aft of the main deck of the FLOW 51m there’s a Beach House entirely made of glass where you can admire the landscape even when it’s too hot or too cold outside. Since 1961, when the studio was founded, to date Vripack has signed more than 7000 projects which are impressive credentials” said Bart. What Marnix and Bart were able to add to the established design practice of Vripack in recent years is plenty of creativity and the ability to not be afraid to go ever further, to think outside the box, and to create solutions that are as innovative as they are functional. FLOW 44M THANKS TO TWO CATERPILLAR C32B ENGINES HAS A RANGE OF 5000 MILES AT 11 KNOTS. 90 BARCHE Luglio 2015//July 2015 FLOW comes from an approach that the two likeable engineers love to call holistic, allencompassing. Form and function integrate, mutually extolling each other while the materials used in the furnishings help to create a relaxing atmosphere. At sea, one can enjoy the view outside while standing in the shelter of a wide glass veranda and from the lounge on the main deck, when the yacht is at anchor, it is possible to go out onto two large folding balconies that are created by breaking down a portion of the bulwark. The yachts FLOW are designed with the objective of allowing the owner maximum use of all the spaces on board. The two versions, sharing the same concept, differ in layout. Both have a huge aft deck at the level of the main deck where, while at sea, large tenders that are suitable for coastal exploration are stored. On the 51 metre version, a glass Beach House at the stern of the main deck serves as a link between the external environment and the interior, and is the perfect place to enjoy the view even when the weather conditions outside are too hot or too cold and shelter is required. On both versions, at the stern of the lounge on the Bridge Deck, the Gullwing Lookouts, two “greenhouses” equipped with a sophisticated air conditioning system, are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the voyage. There are five guest cabins, including a large, panoramic master cabin at the bow of the main deck. The four guest cabins are on the lower deck. On the FLOW 44 metre version, they are located midships, while in the 51 metre version they are instead at the stern with direct access to the Spa, the beach area and the panoramic veranda on the upper deck. The proposed layout, both internal and external, is highly customisable. FLOW is an idea, a concept from which to create the expedition vessel that is most suited to the needs of each owner. Very efficient hull geometry allows a reduction in consumption and transoceanic autonomy, 5,000 miles for the 44 metre and 5,700 in the case of the 51 metre, with a cruising speed of 11 and 12 knots respectively. Engines available: two C32 Caterpillar at 800kW for the 44 metre and two 3512B at 1174kW for the 51 metre. “The development of a project starting from a blank sheet is a long and complex process that many boat owners do not have time to follow”, says Marnix Hoekstra. “Backed by experience gained over many years in international yachting, with the project FLOW we are proposing a new response to the most frequent requests made by owners of this type of boat”. McMullen&Wing are B the ideal partners for such an undertaking!”
