GIOVANNI MICHELE PORTA Curriculum vitae PERSONAL INFORMATION Place and date of birth: Milano, 29/10/1981 Phone: +39 0223996256 Email: [email protected] SUMMARY I am currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Politecnico di Milano. My recent and ongoing research is focused on developing models to understand flow and transport processes in porous media from pore to basin scale. Specific topics of research include upscaling reactive transport in porous media, pore scale numerical modelling of reactive flows, basin compaction modelling, uncertainty propagation and inverse modelling techniques, multiphase flow in porous media, mesh adaptation techniques for flow and transport problems. In 2010 I obtained a PhD (with honours) in Hydraulic Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. The PhD work focused on the development of a numerical model for the shallow water equations coupled with an anisotropic mesh adaptation technique. Since 2010 I participated in several research projects funded by industrial and public bodies. In particular I have been involved in 4 projects funded by Eni SpA and I am co-author of the related advancement reports. I am part of several scientific collaborations with national and international partners. In 2011 I was visiting researcher at Institut Pprime, CNRS, France. From 2010 onwards I supervised the research activities of six PhD students, several master students and a research associate. I have been reviewer for several international journal. Since 2008, I have co-authored 15 papers in international scientific journals, 4 papers in conference proceedings. I hold the tenure of courses of Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics at Politecnico since 2011.
