The Marche region is ready to welcome you with a number of scheduled events for the new year, ranging from culture to cuisine, from consolidated appointments with opera to great multidisciplinary festivals.
Thanks to an efficient railway network and the high-speed train,
"Freccia Rossa", The Marche is an easily accessible region: from Milan,
where Expo 2015 will be held, it just takes 3 hours.

APRIL
CULTURE
Title: Exhibition: Lo Studiolo of the Duke
Town: Urbino

From March to July 2015, it will be held an important exhibition dedicated to one
of Italy’s most remarkable Renaissance sites: the Studiolo of the Duke Federico
da Montefeltro, in the Ducal Palace of Urbino. The event is promoted by the
Marche Region with the cooperation of the Superintendence for the Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological
Heritage of The Marches and the town council of Urbino. The Studiolo is a masterpiece of inlay wood work, where
there originally was a double Gallery with 28 portraits of famous men: today only half of the portraits is preserved
in the “Galleria Nazionale delle Marche”, while the remaining 14, bought by Napoleon III, can be found in the Louvre Museum in Paris.

FOLK MUSIC
Title: III Edition of the Montelago Celtic Festival Show - Rassegna Europea di Musica e Cultura Celtica

The Montelago Celtic Festival this year is dedicated to entertainment,
travel and listening in the Marche, Lazio and Galicia. In collaboration with
the cities of San Ginesio, Montemarciano, Mogliano, the festival has the
support of the Italian Rugby federation and the Vianandante – cultural itineraries.
As per tradition, the festival comprises 7 events and is held from 21 January through 13 May. The theme is the passions that keep the people of Montelago busy all year round and enlivens the long march towards the eagerly
awaited summer event at Taverne di Serravale di Chienti (MC). The stars of this third Snow edition are not just the
best Celtic bands, but international rugby and the new and magical events organised to explore and experience the
origins of the Celtic universe.

BLUES FESTIVAL
Title: San Severino Blues Marche Festival - IX edition Winter 2014/2015

The appointment with San Severino Marche Blues Festival is coming back. Ten
events, from November 2014 to May 2015, for a winter of Afro-American music.
The Winter of San Severino Blues gets bigger and so it plays all year round.
Contemporary gospel, blues, soul, jazz and rock, black artists and white artists,
Italian and international , historical leaders and new talents, from the preview of
November until May 2015 will animate San Severino Marche, Pollenza, Cingoli,
Maiolati Spontini and Tolentino.

Title: Festival of the Landscape - Ecomuseum of the Landscape
Municipalities involved: Serra San Quirico, Staffolo, Mergo
and Montecarotto

The quality of the local landscape will be studied and interpreted by an exhibition inspired by the ideas of eco-museums, dealing not only with the enhancement of the quality of landscapes, but also with the profound relationship existing between people and territories along the course of history. Narrations, stories, nature, slow walking, experiential tourism and sharing, are the key words of the initiatives promoted by the Ecomuseum of the landscape, to
aggregate the participants to the discovery of unknown artistic and scenic paths in the territory of the Esini Hills.
Serra San Quirico, Staffolo and Mergo will host three projects specifically created for each context whereas Montecarotto will dedicate the last day to a walk/event that will go through a path with installations and performative
moments created by young artists.

Title: Tipicità EXPerience - Gran Tour delle Marche 2015 - Tipicità in Blu

Tipicità EXPerience is a tourist circuit which covers all of the areas of the
Marche in an experimental way. A fascinating route takes visitors from the sea
to the inland areas, stopping at the most important landmarks of the capital. A
blue line which connects the inland areas to the Adriatic sea, through three areas which symbolize the agricultural
and marine vocation of the city. With its “Tipicit{ in blu” the capital of the Marche offers a route with three stops
featuring flavour, culture and tradition, including theme tastings and exhibitions.

HISTORICAL RE-ENACTMENT

Title: Scio’ la Pica

The festival, the oldest cultural tradition, bases its roots on the ritual of the
“Primavera Sacra”( the Holy Spring), when the young Sabines, forced to leave
their homeland to vote to the Gods, arrived in Central Italy, following the flight of
the woodpecker ("pica" in local dialect). It is celebrated on the day of Pentecost
and continues the ceremony of “Ver Sacrum” . This year, as in the past, an area is dedicated to a cultural religious
section with the devotion to the "Madonna del Soccorso" (to which the guilds of arts and crafts offer "magni" candles adorned with flowers and fruits of the earth) and one is celebrated in costume, tied to the Renaissance period
of which the town preserves important documents and monumental traces. The event ends with a parade from
the to the field where the competition takes place for the performance of the fascinating "Giostra all'Anello" (Ring
Carousel) between the Corporations' knights.

Title: Cantamaggio (“Singmay”)

The event celebrating the return of spring and the new agricultural season will take
place in Morro d'Alba. It derives from the classical training of four elements: accordion,

Title: I Favolosi anni ’70

In the lovely setting of Gabicce Monte, on the Marchigian headland over the Adriatic,
visitors can relive the atmosphere and sounds of the fabulous 1970s.
From 19 through 21 June, the town will be transformed with installations, DJs, exhibitions, fashions shows, art exhibits and entertainment for young and old alike. The three days of the event will see
Italian and foreign show hosts, a concert in Gabicce Mare and a fashion show.

Title: Tipicità EXPerience - Gran Tour delle Marche 2015 - Capodarco
L’Altro Festival

From 22 to 27 June, the balcony over the sea of the Comunità di Capodarco will
host the 9th edition of the Capodarco L’Altro festival – Premio L’anello debole,
(The Other Festival – Weak Link Award) a film and documentary event which
will conclude with the awarding of prizes for the best short video and sound track. Each evening will end with a
tasting of delicacies from the traditional cuisine.

Title: XVII International Symposium of Living Sculpture

Title: Festival Nazionale Alogastronomia

Apecchio is known for its artisanal breweries and for having coined alogastronomia, a term which celebrates the union of the territory and its excellences. Inaugurated in 2002, the Festival is an original event, unlike any in Italy, designed to
promote tourism in the local area.
The event is also a business opportunity for all producers, not just local breweries, who can present their product
to both international and Italian buyers as well as raise awareness of the quality and potential of the Marche.

Title: Sono/Sano come un pesce” (I am/as healthy as they get)

Expo 2015 in Milan is dedicated to food and nutrition. In honour of this, for eleven
weeks starting on June 22nd, a project entitled “Sono/Sano come un pesce” (I am/as
healthy as they get), the town of San Benedetto del Tronto has organised three distinct
tourism themes for children and their parents: Children and the Sea – a night at the Sea
Museum (every Tuesday there will be a guided tour to learn about the beauty of the
sea); Slow Food for Kids (every Wednesday there will be a food workshop aimed at
learning about the nutritional value of food) and “Legnogiocando in mare” (Wood and
the sea).

HISTORICAL RE-ENACTMENT
Title: Palio dei Castelli
City: San Severino Marche

Dates: 7th –21 June 2015
Since 1972, a solemn historical re-enactment celebrates the town’s patron
saint San Severino with a procession that accompanies the reliquary to the old
castle for a special offering. The offering recalls the donation of the noble subjects of the Smeducci, who would give
the custodians of the sanctuary a wax sculpture of the castle which was carried all the way to the top of Monte
Nero. The city of San Severino Marche owes its roots to the ancient Septempeda, a strategic Roman colony along
the road connecting the Adriatic coast to the Via Flaminia further inland.

Title: The Palio (Prize) of San Giovanni Battista

The event recalls The history of Fabriano in the 12th century, focused on the activities of the Guilds of Arts and Crafts and the organization of festivals and fairs.
It consists of a competition between master blacksmiths and journeymen that gives life to the challenge of the mallet between the representatives of the city Gates. The scheduled events are held in the town square, Piazza Garibaldi and the historical centre. Fabriano, city built at the turn of the Appennine of Marche-Umbria, is famous for the
production of paper. It deserves to be reminded the Museum of the Paper and Watermark, housed in the former
convent of San Domenico, where you can follow the ancient techniques and admire the mechanics of the Middle
Ages tools.

Title: XXIII edition Castelbellino Arts

Title: Le Parole della Montagna

Thanks to the synergy with the Compagnia della Rancia, the summer of 2015 will be
enlivened by great musicals at the Teatro La Fenice of Senigallia during the first edition
of SEM - Senigallia Estate Musical (Summer Musicals). The shows being put on are Pinocchio and Grease.
Great 1950s energy and rock’n’roll with all its hoop skirts and leather jackets, Grease is
a musical that is as spectacular as it is fun and heart-warming, ideal for the entire family, as is Pinocchio, another eternal favourite. Summer evenings are sure to be even

Title: The Theatre of the World - International Festival of
Theatre for Kids

"The Theatre of the World" is the largest Italy’s event dedicated to children's theatre. It is one of the most complete Festivals with over fifty performances, workshops, exhibitions, meetings, events, special projects and conferences. The event
will take place in different places of the town, including Villa Baruchello (that will host the workshop activities),
the Pineta Nord and Villa Murri. There will be two further locations: the “Sud-Faleriense” Promenade and the
“Centro” Promenade, where the closing party of the event will be held.

Title: "Paese dei Balocchi" (Toyland)

It’s a leisure event dedicated to children. A series of activities, led by real children’s
entertainers, will enliven the historic centre, with its medieval squares, streets and

Title: “Verdicchio in festa –Market of the wines of the Marche”

Title: Anghiò Fish Festival

Anghiò is the Festival of local Adriatic fish: anchovies, sardines, mackerels, amber
fish and tunas. The Fish Festival aims at enhancing and promoting the longstanding fishing tradition of The Marche region and in particular of the San Benedetto
area: the port is second in Italy for the amount of caught fish and the number of fishing boats.

During the Torneo Cavalleresco Castel Clementino, or Knight’s Joust, the city of Servigliano is enlivened by processions, the exhibition of banners and playing of music,

procession is made up of 300 men, women and children all dressed in medieval garments and offers a fascinating
look at the history of Italian clothing. The stupendous outfits made by local tailors are faithful reproductions of

and the banner throwing, the joust for the ring begins, pitting the knights of the various rioni against one another.

This event is the historical re-enactment of the wedding celebrated in the year
1234 between Forastéria, the daughter of Rinaldo degli Acquaviva known as
"Grosso" (Big) and Rainaldo dei Brunforte, the son of Bonconte, grandson of
Fidesmino di Brunforte, Signore of Sarnano and the deputy of Federico II.
The modern version of the event takes place every first Friday of August, and on the preceding Thursday and following Sunday there are jousts, shows, dinners, dancing and music. Thursday is reserved for the blessing of the
mantle and the Impalmazione; on Friday the wedding is celebrated followed by the Palio and the celebrations end
on Sunday with a medieval banquet and the “burning of the Fortress.”

This festival is dedicated to Francesco Degrada and this year’s edition, which takes
place from 29 May through 14 June and is entitled Lacrimosa memoria, sorridente
levità, (Tearful memory, smiling levity) celebrates the 10th anniversary of his death.
The festival will begin with a performance of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, followed by a
series of theatrical and musical events of various types. From the itinerant show
along the streets of the city which Franco Dragone will dedicate to the famous Jacoponian sequence set to music by
the great Jesi native, to a comedy which is centred around actors rehearsing Pergolesi’s Lo frate ‘nnamorato (The
Brother in Love). And then there are piano, organ and cymbal concerts featuring the music from the Neapolitan
school of the XVIII century and classic Italian and European genres which accompanied the theatrical works by
Pergolesi and Spontini. The festival concludes with an homage to singer-songwriter Pino Daniele which will be an
emotional and joyous commemoration of this great popular musician.
