The association “Amici della Galleria Spazzapan,” which formed in January
1998 with the aim of sustaining the activities of the regional “Luigi
Spazzapan” Gallery of Gradisca d’Isonzo and to promote the knowledge and
appreciation of contemporary art, publicly announces an international
competition to select video works by 10 emerging artists to include in
the audiovisual exhibition “so fresh!”
N IS OPEN TO
THE COMPETITIO
Artists who employ video in work connected to the use of traditional,
electronic, and information technologies as means of artistic expression.
Works produced while enrolled in a visual arts program, including an Academy of Fine Arts, Film School, Specialized Art Institute, or University.
OBJECTIVE
This exhibition is being organized to promote emerging artists who work with
video. The reward offered to the 10 young artists selected include:
a.
Inclusion in a catalog that documents the 10 selected works and
contains a DVD with brief previews of each video;
b.
Inclusion in the DVD ‘so fresh!” that will contain the complete
formatted edition of the selected videos;
c.
Presentation of the DVD “so fresh!” at:
- The Project Room, GC. AC, Sala Comunale Antiche Mura, Monfalcone (GO),
- The Galleria Regionale d’Arte Contemporanea L. Spazzapan, Gradisca d’Is. (GO),
- The Spazio Comunicarte, Trieste.

Participation in this exhibition is open to students, video artists, and beginning directors, both Italian and foreigners located in the regions of Friuli
Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria.
The age of the participant at the time of submission must not exceed 30 years.
Only works completed after January 1, 2006 may be submitted.
The maximum length of videos is 5 minutes. (Only in exceptional cases, at the
discretion of the curator, will longer videos by selected, and in any event
not longer than 10 minutes.)
REGULATIONS
Art.1
Complete all parts of the entry form, including the authorization for the
Associazione Amici della Galleria Spazzapan to use the work for didactic,
cultural, and promotional purposes, without monetary gain, through publication in newspapers, via the Internet, and public presentation;
Art.2
Submit 2 copies of the work in DVD format;
Art. 3
Submit 2 copies of the artist’s curriculum vitae, in Italian or English,
and in digital format;
Art.4
Submit an abstract of the work in Italian or English;
Art.5
Submit a selection of JPEG formatted images of distinct still frames from
the work, and include a declaration of consent for their utilization,
full or partial, for the purposes of the exhibition;
Art.6
Submit an itemization of the original music selected for use as a soundtrack, indicating the composers and titles. Furthermore we require written authorization from the composers for the music used in the selection.

Participation in this Call For Entries is Free.
All materials involved in submitting the work described above, including
postage, will be at the expense of the participant. Works must arrive by
July 19, 2008.
Works that arrive after that date will be will accepted if properly postmarked. If works are not delivered on time, ultimate inclusion in the
competition will be an unchallengeable decision made by the organizers of
the event.

Works selected will be included in the audiovisual archives of the Galleria
d’Arte Contemporanea di Monfalcone.
All works submitted, including those not selected, will be added to the
archive of the Associazione Amici della Galleria Spazzapan, instituted
for use by universities, schools, students, and interested individuals,
for research and study.
The Associazione Amici della Galleria Spazzapan will personally contact the
video artists selected to participate in the exhibition “so fresh!” either
by telephone or email. Video artists not selected will not be contacted.

The selection committee that will review the submitted work will be organized by Andrea Bruciati, Director of the Galleria d’Arte Contemporanea
di Monfalcone (Gorizia), by Lorenzo Michelli of the Spazio Comunicarte,
and by a member of the Associazione Amici della Galleria Spazzapan.
All decisions of the selection committee are final.

ACCEPTANCE OF
Submitting work to this competition constitutes complete acceptance of the
regulations and consent for photographic and video reproduction of the selected works in print or digital publications.
