Torino.
Degree in Physics: July 7, 1994. Title of the thesis: "Sistemi integrabili su algebre di
Lie, funzioni di Casimir e significato del parametro spettrale" (“Integrable systems on
Lie algebras, Casimir functions and the meaning of the spectral parameter”) prof. Mauro
Francaviglia. Final marks: 110/110 cum laude.
• October 1994 – December 1998. Frequency of the courses of the PhD program in
Mathematical Physics at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in
Trieste.
Doctor Philosophiæ in Mathematical Physics: December 10, 1998. Title of the
thesis: "Scaling symmetries of evolutionary systems, time-dependent Hamiltonian
structures, and monodromy-preserving deformations". Supervisor prof. Boris A.
Dubrovin.

The different fields of study covered in the following list of publications betray the path
I am following in my research. The common thread is the attempt to build a strong
interaction between my two different vocational training subjects. This means on the
one hand I use my mathematical expertise to better understand some aspects of ancient
philosophy, and on the other hand I try to "garnish" the ontology of modern physics
with some “new” tools, resorting to ancient philosophy.
