Department of Health and Human Services/U.S. Department of Agricolture, 2005) . ,2008), it is for every individual a half powerful person for the prevention of pathologies and therefore a method to improve the public health of the population and to reduce the costs of the national sanitary expense (WHO, 2003, 2007; CDC, 2006) Juvenile obesity is on the increase persisting in adult age, with consequent risks for the health, often comport a diminution of the self-efficacy and even depressive syndromes.” (European Health report 2002). The data reported in literature is a progressive reduction of time devoted to the practice of physical activities and physical capacity in children and adolescents in Western countries, is the importance of a systematic practice motor physical development and emotional-affective subjects in children that may contribute to the management of anxiety and depressive manifestations of mild and moderate (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/U.S. Department of Agricultures, 2005). This project aims to investigate the preventive role of physical activities and relationships between the socio-emotional and motor functions in the broader spectrum of health education in childhood, is intended to provide scientific input on the issues of inter-disciplinary and methodological 'education movement and movement, seen as essential to the practice of conscious active lifestyles. The innovation of this study, compared the current state of the art in the field, in particular dealt with the multifaceted and interdisciplinary nature of the problem identified. The studies included are: • The cross-sectional analysis on the development of motor ability and body mass index (BMI) in reference to gender, age and extracurricular sports activities to the perception of self-efficiency motor (self-efficacy) and the Body image structuring. • The longitudinal analysis of a prospective on motor ability (strength, speed and motor combination) in relation to gender differences in the perception of motor self-efficacy and Body Image. • The analysis is aimed at children between 8 and 10 years residing in the town of Bari The materials and methods for the assessment include the use of different instruments: • Motor Test for the evaluation of motor development: agility test (4 x 10 m), basketball throw, standing long jump,10-20m sprints from a standing position, 20m slalom basketball. (Kirby RF, BenOak Publishing Company, 1991; Falk B, Cohen Y, 2001; Morrow JR., et al, Human Kinetics, 2000; Donati A et al 1994;). • Questionnaire for the assessment of motor self-efficacy: "The Perceived Physical Ability Scale for Children" (Colella et al., 2008) • Questionnaire for the assessment of Body Image: Body figure perceptions "(Collins, 1991). • Measurement of Body Mass Index: BMI with the thresholds, cut-off points of Cole (Cole et al.2000). The results obtained allow to reflect on teaching styles and the selection of content in children for the acquisition and consolidation of motor skills through varied situations, increase the level coordinating and monitoring capacities, improving children's expectations of trust in personal skills, fostering the development of greater security in the face of new tasks, limiting the interruption or abandonment of the practice of a sport and ensure the acquisition of physically active lifestyles by enhancing the "life skills " (Danish et al., 2005; Maureen et al., 2005) Key words Motor Development, Motor self-efficacy, Body Image, Body Mass Index, Evolutive Age References 1.
