GARA
Prime Aston Martin sia in GT1che in GT3, giro più veloce in gara in
entrambe le classi, Aston Martin Racing BMS conclude la difficile prova
magiara di Budapest, ottava gara del Campionato FIA GT, con un 3° e
6° posto finale in GT1 ed un 1° e 2° di classe con le GT3. Il team
mantiene saldamente la seconda posizione in classifica squadre con
56,5 punti.
Partito dalla seconda posizione, con la stessa scelta di gomme morbide
operata nelle prove di qualificazione di ieri, Babini ha condotto una
bella prima parte di gara in attacco sulla Saleen di Janis. Passata la
guida al giovane Malucelli (21), che ha guidato con estrema regolarità
il suo stint (buono il suo best lap in 1:43.329), Babini fino a qualche giro
dalla fine manteneva la vettura in seconda posizione quando si è
toccato con la Maserati MC12 di Biagi, doppiato in quel momento. Il
colpo ricevuto dalla vettura ha storto lo sterzo, reso la DBR9 molto
difficile da guidare e lo ha costretto a cedere la seconda posizione. Di
Babini il giro più veloce in gara con un tempo di 1:43.076 ad una media
di 153km/h.
Gollin/Ramos portano la vettura #24 al traguardo in sesta posizione
dopo tre ore di gara condotte mantenendo un ritmo costante e dopo
qualche sorpasso avvincente.
BMS Scuderia Italia termina la corsa anche con entrambe le GT3
pilotate dagli equipaggi composti da Groppi/Seiler e Stancheris/Zlobin
che terminano primi di categoria, con il giro più veloce di classe
(1:52.561) e rispettivamente in 19° e 20° posizione assoluta.

“Abbiamo fatto il giro più veloce in gara e un bel podio, direi che è un
buon risultato finale. Non è stato facile sorpassare e abbiamo guidato
una prima parte di parte di gara fantastica. Purtroppo verso la fine, in
un doppiaggio, sono stato toccato e la mia macchina non era più
come prima; è stato molto difficile concludere la gara e questo mi ha
fatto perdere una posizione.”

“E’ la mia prima volta con Babini come compagno di macchina ed è il
mio podio nel FIA GT e dunque sono molto soddisfatto. E’ stata una
gara impegnativa e le gomme sono andate benissimo, soprattutto
all’inizio e alla fine dello stint. Stiamo stati un po’ penalizzati dai
doppiaggi e Fabio ha anche avuto un problema con una Maserati che
non gli ha dato precedenza e si sono toccati.”

“All’inizio, per precauzione, non ho voluto azzardare troppo e per un po’ mi
sono mantenuto dietro delle GT2, poi, preso il ritmo, le ho passate e ho
iniziato a spingere di più. E’ stata bella gara e anche Sergey ha fatto un bel
lavoro.”

“Per un problema di alimentazione Toni ha avuto la sensazione di non avere
più carburante. Il suo rientro immediato ha penalizzato il pit stop dove
abbiamo perso molto tempo. Le gomme Pirelli si sono rivelate molto buone.
Nel mio stint abbiamo provato un nuovo compound: gomme
complessivamente dure ma più morbide sul posteriore.”

RACE
First Aston Martin both in GT1and GT3, fastest laps in race in both
classes, team Aston Martin Racing BMS finished the difficult Hungarian
race, round 8 of the FIA GT Championship, 3rd and 6th in GT1 and 1st and
2nd in GT3 class. The Italian team is lying in a solid 2nd position in the
Teams’ Classification with 56,5 points.
Started from the second position in grid, with the same tyres choice
made in qualifying, Babini conducted a very good first part of the race
in constant attack of the Saleen driven by Janis. Even passed the wheel
of the car to the young Matteo Malucelli (21) who kept a high rhythm
and set his fastest lap (1:43.329), Babini continued in 2nd position when,
few laps before the end of the competition, was hit by the Maserati
MC12 driven by Biagi (lapped) which hit and damaged the DBR9 car
and oblige the Italian driver to finish the race in extremely difficult
conditions. Fabio Babini, on Aston Martin car #23 set the final fastest lap
time in 1:43.076, 153hp/h.
Gollin/Ramos crossed the chequered flag in a strong 6th position after 3
hours race conducted on very competitive lap times.
BMS Scuderia Italia finished also with both the GT3s driven by
Groppi/Seiler and Stancheris/Zlobin who finished the race 1st and 2nd in
class (19th and 20th overall) recording the fastest lap time (1:52.561),

“We set the fastest lap time and reached the podium, I can say this is a
good race result! It had not been easy to overtake and I drove a
fantastic first part of the competition. Unfortunately during the last laps,
while I was passing a lapped car it touched me and damaged my car:
from this moment on it was extremely difficult to finish the race as my
DBR9 was not still the same This cost me the second final position.”

“Here I was driving for the first time with Babini sharing the wheel of the
GT1 #24 and I reached the podium, for my first ever time in the FIA GT,
so I can say I’m satisfied. This race had been demanding for many
reasons and my tyres were incredibly good, especially at the beginning
and the end of my stint. We had been penalized a lot by the lapped
and Fabio had a big problem with a lapped Maserati that hit his car.”

“At the start, and during the first laps, I preferred not to push too much and
not to commit any mistake so I drove behind some GT2. Then I begun to
push harder. It was a very good race and Sergey did a great job at his very
first time at the wheel of an AMR BMS car .”

“Because of a problem at the injection Toni had the wrong impression to
have finished the fuel. He suddenly came into the box for a pit stop but
here we lost a lot of time. Pirelli tyres are very good and during my stint we
tried a new compound which revealed to be ok.”
