Prove di QUALIFICAZIONE
BMS Scuderia Italia ottiene la prima pole position della stagione in classe GT1
con l’Aston Martin DBR9 nr.23 condotta da Fabio Babini che ha preceduto di soli
9 centesimi di secondo l’auto gemella guidata da Fabrizio Gollin (nr.24 di gara).
Dopo le sessioni di prove libere, dove le due Aston Martin del team bresciano si
erano tenute in disparte mirando, in completo accordo con il partner Pirelli, solo
alla definizione degli pneumatici per qualifiche e gara, le due DBR9 hanno
costituito per gli avversari una vera e propria sorpresa risultando subito ai vertici
della classifica.
Nella griglia di partenza solo la Ferrari 550 sperimentale della Prodrive, che
presentava un motore privo di restrittori all’alimentazione ha superato il tempo
limite di Fabio Babini di un decimo di secondo.
CAR 23 – Babini/Malucelli

“Sono felicissimo anche se per un solo decimo non ho assaporato il piacere della
pole assoluta. Finalmente il grande lavoro fatto dalla BMS e dalla Pirelli sta
dando i suoi frutti e mi auguro proprio una grande gara per domani. Per il
momento siamo davanti a tutti i nostril concorrenti diretti e credo che riposerò
proprio bene.”

(P2 di classe, P3 assoluto –1:56.076, 10 giri)

“E’ andato proprio forte Fabio, non sono riuscito a batterlo per 9 centesimi di
secondo, ma comunque sono molto soddisfatto di come stiamo affrontando
questa gara e le difficoltà insite in un tracciato come questo. Domani spero di
fare ancora meglio.”
In classe GT3 ben si sono comportate macchine e piloti ottenendo anche qui
una meritatissima pole position con Marcello Zani (nr.115), ed un secondo posto
con la new entry Luca Pirri (nr.133). Ottimo il comportamento delle
Aston DBRS9 che nonostante le difficili condizioni ambientali, con un caldo
soffocante, hanno mantenuto un elevato rendimento inserendosi a metà dello
schieramento della classe superiore.

“Di questa mia prestazione, che ovviamente mi soddisfa appieno, voglio
soprattutto ringraziare l’amico Franco Groppi che mi ha dato questa
opportunità rinunciando all’ultimo momento alla gara in seguito ad un piccolo
incidente domestico, e la squadra che ha subito pensato a me.”

QUALIFYING
BMS Scuderia Italia secures its first GT1 POLE POSITION in season 2006 thanks to an
excellent lap time set by Fabio Babini on his DBR9 n.23. With a gap of only 9 cents
follows team mate Fabrizio Gollin on the Aston Martin n.24.
In the two free practice sessions the Italian team, in agreement with its partner
Pirelli, focused its work program on defining the right set of tires to be used in
qualifying and race. After that the Aston Martin "works team" could express its
potential and was a surprise for the competitors thanks to excellent lap times that
assured the team the top positions on the classification.
Only the Prodrive sperimental Ferrari 550, was able to achieve a faster time than
Fabio Babini's one (1 tenth).

“I am really happy even I could not taste the feeling to be on pole for 1 tenth
only. Finally the huge work made by BMS team and Pirelli staff is giving us back
the good results we were waiting for and I really hope that tomorrow we will
enjoy and see a good race. At the moment we are at the front of all our
competitors and I am sure tonight I will sleep well."
CAR 24 – Gollin/Ramos (P2 in class, P3 overall –1:56.076, 10 total laps)

“Fabio recorded a fantastic lap time; I could not be faster for 9 cents only but I
am satisfied about how we are facing this weekend race also considering that
this is not an easy track. Tomorrow I am confident I can do even better."
In GT3 class the BMS Scuderia Italia cars and drives did a great job resulting FIRST
thanks to Marcello Zani's POLE POSITION (car. 115) and the second faster time
secured by the new entry Luca Pirri (car n.133). The Aston Martin DBRS9s were
really fantastic on this demanding track despite the difficult weather conditions
(very high temperatures) by maintaining a high level of performance and
qualifying in the middle of the starting grid between GT2 cars.
