Gaetano Donizetti e i luoghi donizettiani
I tuffi sono un’arte oltre che una disciplina sportiva.
Si dice nell’ambiente che l’atleta di talento sente il ritmo e possiede un innato senso musicale: i suoi salti sulla tavola sono come
una danza che termina in una perfetta proiezione in aria e in un preciso ed elegante ingresso in acqua senza spruzzi
Una volta, durante un’intervista, Giorgio Cagnotto disse del compagno di squadra che con lui ha scritto la storia dei tuffi italiani:
“I tuffi prima di lui erano un’altra cosa. Klaus li ha cambiati, come i Beatles hanno cambiato la musica”
Musica di un passato recente, degli anni ‘60 , come quella dei Beatles, musica contemporanea e musica classica, musica che in ogni
epoca sa parlare tutte le lingue e sa unire e appassionare le persone oltre qualsiasi confine, proprio come lo sport.

Da qui l’idea di proporre durante i Campionati Europei Giovanili di Tuffi che si svolgeranno a Bergamo dal 30 giugno al 6
luglio, un’iniziativa che si legasse alla musica e di dedicare una mostra retrospettiva ai due atleti dei tuffi che più di qualsiasi
altro hanno rappresentato il nostro Paese nel mondo .
Dal Teatro cittadino, intitolato al grande musicista e compositore Gaetano Donizetti, tempio di musica e spettacolo e sede della
mostra dedicata a Klaus Dibiasi e Giorgio Cagnotto, partirà un itinerario alla scoperta della Città e dei “Luoghi donizettiani”,
luoghi in cui Donizetti e la sua musica hanno reso Bergamo una Città Europea della Musica.
In addition to being a sport, diving is also an art form.
Talented athletes are often said to possess a sense of rhythm and an innate musical sense: their leaps on the diving board are
like a dance that ends in a flawless projection into the air, with a precise and elegant entrance into the water without splashing.
During an interview, Giorgio Cagnotto made this comment about his teammate, together with whom he wrote the history of Italian
diving: «Before him, diving was completely different. Klaus changed diving, like the Beatles changed music»
Music from a recent past, the 1960’s, like that of the Beatles, contemporary music and classical music, music that in every era
speaks all languages and manages to unite and inspire people beyond all boundaries, just like sports.
This is what inspired the idea to offer an initiative that links music to the European Junior Diving Championships, to be held in
Bergamo from 30 June to 6 July. It’s also an opportunity to dedicate a retrospective exhibit to the two divers who, more than any
other, represented our country in the world.
The city theatre, named after the great musician and composer Gaetano Donizetti, is considered a temple of music and entertainment. In addition to hosting the exhibit dedicated to Klaus Dibiasi and Giorgio Cagnotto, a tour will depart from the theatre
that will allow visitors to discover the city and the “Donizetti Sites”, where the composer and his music made Bergamo a European
City of Music.
Klaus Dibiasi
Nasce il 6 ottobre 1947 a Solbad Hall, Austria, da genitori italiani,
che rientrano in Italia quando è ancora un bambino.
Figlio d’arte, Dibiasi inizia ad allenarsi all’età di 10 anni
con il padre Carlo, campione italiano dal 1933 al 1936
e atleta olimpionico alle Olimpiadi di Berlino del 1936.
La carriera di Klaus inizia proprio con il passaggio di testimone da parte del padre
che disputa il suo ultimo Campionato Italiano nel 1962.
L’anno successivo il figlio sale sul gradino più alto dello stesso podio, dando inizio a una
carriera senza paragoni , durante la quale conquista cinque medaglie olimpiche,
tre d’oro e due d’argento, in quattro edizioni consecutive dei giochi (Tokyo 1964,
Città del Messico 1968, Monaco 1972 e Montreal 1976)
e una lunga serie di altre medaglie mondiali ed europee.
I grandi risultati, l’eleganza del suo gesto atletico e la bellezza fisica
hanno fatto passare alla storia Klaus Dibiasi come “l’Angelo Biondo dei Tuffi”.
Klaus Dibiasi è attualmente Responsabile del Settore Tuffi della Federazione
Italiana Nuoto, vive a Roma e dirige con la moglie Laura Schermi, ex tuffatrice azzurra,
la Società di tuffi che da 6 anni domina la classifica nazionale a Squadre.
Was born in Solbad Hall, Austria from Italian parents, who returned to Italy when he was
a child. He was the first Italian to become an Olympic champion in a diving event. Dibiasi
was coached by his father, Carlo, a former Italian champion (1933–1936) and a competitor at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, who finished 10th on the platform.
Klaus Dibiasi also later coached the Italian diving team.Dibiasi won a silver medal in
platform diving at the 1964 Summer Olympics, and went on to win gold in the same event
at the next three Games (1968, 1972, and 1976).
Dibiasi is the only Olympic diver to have won three successive gold medals, and he is the
only diver to have won medals at four Summer Olympics. A silver in the springboard in
1964 gave him a record total of five Olympic medals. He also excelled at the first two FINA
World Aquatic Championships (1973 and 1975), winning four medals.
Giorgio Cagnotto
Nasce a Torino il 2 giugno 1947. Inizia ad allenarsi all’età di 8 anni con lo zio, Lino
Quattrin, anch’esso tuffatore professionista.
Alla giovanissima età di 16 anni partecipa alle Olimpiadi di Tokyo del 1964, iniziando una
carriera epica, durante la quale partecipa a ben cinque Olimpiadi.
Ma l’Olimpiade che lo consacra tra i più grandi tuffatori di tutti i tempi è quella di Monaco
del 1972, durante la quale vince l’argento dal trampolino e il bronzo dalla piattaforma.
Quest’ultimo rappresenta anche il podio più significativo per la storia dei tuffi italiani,
con due atleti della nostra Nazionale che conquistano nella stessa gara olimpica un oro
(Dibiasi) e un bronzo (Cagnotto). Nel 1976, alle Olimpiadi di Montreal, conquista la sua
terza medaglia olimpica, con un argento dal trampolino e conclude con la sua quarta e
conclusiva medaglia , un bronzo dal trampolino, alle Olimpiadi di Mosca nel 1980, all’età
di 32 anni. Giorgio Cagnotto raggiunge l’apice della carriera negli anni in cui domina
incontrastato il compagno di Squadra e amico Klaus Dibiasi , “l’Angelo Azzurro” dei Tuffi
Italiani. Oggi Giorgio Cagnotto è Direttore Tecnico del Settore Tuffi della Federazione
Italiana Nuoto e CT della Nazionale Italiana.
Vive a Bolzano con la moglie Carmen, ex piattaformista azzurra ed è allenatore della figlia
Tania che, con l’eleganza, la tecnica e la determinazione ereditate dal padre, è entrata
nella storia dei tuffi come unica donna italiana ad aver conquistato dal 2005 a oggi sette
medaglie mondiali e 12 titoli europei.
Giorgio Cagnotto was born in Turin the 2nd of May 1947 .
At the age of eight, he began to train with this uncle, professional diver Lino Quattrrini.
Just eight years later he found himself competing in the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games,
kicking off an Olympic career of epic proportion.
Cagnotto competed infact in five consecutive Olympic Games.
After Tokyo, he competed in Mexico City in 1968, but it was during his third Olympic
effort in the ‘72 Munich Games that he earned a silver medal for his performance
on the springboard and a bronze in the platform competition.
At the 1976 Montreal Games, he won his third Olympic medal-- a silver in the springboard
competition. He retired at the age of thirty-two after earning his fourth Olympic medal
at the 1980 Moscow Games where Cagnotto again medaled in the springboard
competition, taking the bronze.
Giorgio Cagnotto is presently the Italian National Team Coach and the
Federal Technical Director of Diving, living in Bolzano, Italy, with his wife Carmen ,
ex national diver . Giorgio Cagnotto is also the coach of Tania Cagnotto, his daughter ,
considered the “Queen” of this sport in Italy

Bergamo è la città di Gaetano Donizetti ed è la città degli amanti della buona musica: in tutta la città troviamo tracce “musicali”. Sarà l’occasione per passeggiare
per le vie della città e conoscere la personalità del compositore, attraverso i luoghi della sua formazione e quelli che ne conservano la memoria.
PROGRAMMA
Ore 1700 Ritrovo c/o il Teatro Donizetti, visita guidata del Teatro e della mostra retrospettiva dei tuffi all’interno.
Ore 1800 dal teatro Donizetti, in pullman raggiungeremo Colle Aperto, in Città Alta. Inizieremo con la visita della “casa natale” di Gaetano Donizetti, in cui nacque nel 1797, nel quartiere di Borgo Canale, un tempo quartiere popolare ed oggi, luogo privilegiato per ammirare il colle di San Vigilio, che domina la città con i resti del suo castello.
La tappa successiva sarà il Museo Donizettiano, che si trova nel più vasto e complesso edificio barocco della città Nel Museo Donizettiano si conservano manoscritti,
cimeli, oggetti riguardanti Donizetti: lettere, partiture, libretti originali, libri, autografi musicali, ritratti, la camera da letto e il fortepiano a coda tanto caro a
Donizetti. Da via Arena, prima di imboccare via Donizetti, si prosegue per la Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, che conserva le spoglie del compositore.
Uscendo da Piazza Vecchia, cuore di Città Alta, si arriva al Teatro sociale, un gioiello architettonico rimase attivo fino al 1920. Nacque sull’onda di una competizione tra città alta e città bassa. Alla fine della visita, verso le ore 2000, avrete la possibilità di degustare, presso i ristoranti convenzionati di Città Alta,

Bergamo is the city of Gaetano Donizetti and the city of lovers of good music as well: evidence of this is in the music
traces we find throughout the city. It will be an opportunity to stroll through the streets of the city and to know the
personality of the composer, through the places of his education and those that holds his memory.
PROGRAMME
5.00 pm Meeting at the Teatro Donizetti, guided tour of the theatre and the retrospective photo exhibition of dives, set up inside the theatre.
6.00 pm From the Teatro Donizetti, we reach Colle Aperto, in the Upper Town, by bus. A visit start with the
Native House of Gaetano Donizetti, where he was born in 1797, in Borgo Canale quarter, just outside the city wall,
once a popular neighborhood, and today a privileged place where to enjoy the sight of the San Vigilio hill, which
overlooks the town by the remains of its castle. The next stop is be the Donizetti Museum, which is located in the largest and most complex baroque building in
the city and preserves manuscripts, memorabilia and objects relating Donizetti: letters, scores, original librettos, books, music autographs, portraits, the master bed
and the grand piano, so dear to Donizetti. The tour continues from Via Arena to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, that holds the remains of the composer.
From Piazza Vecchia, the heart of the Upper Town, we arrive at the Teatro Sociale, an architectural jewel, used until 1920. It was built in a period of great competition between the Upper town and Lower town.
