Legend: A: The samples of Cycas revoluta present in the area of the pinophyta were donated by Maria Carolina Bonaparte, the wife of Gioacchino Murat in 1813. B: Parrotia persica otherwise known as the “Pagoda Tree” beacause of the way its branches are developed is a species originating from Iran and is represented here in the garden by a fine specimen. C: Melaleuca styphelioides originating from Australia is represented in the grove by one of the first exemplary plants introduced in Italy. This example is characterized by a papery bark that on contact seems to be slightly soft. D: The example of the Caucasian species Zelkova carpinifolia present in the grove has a base circumference of about 5 M. E: The example of Camellia japonica located in front of the entrance to the castle is one of the oldest of those present on the European Continent. F: A large example of Gardenia thunbergia, a species originating from South Africa, is located in the courtyard of the castle. G: The Holm-oaks (Quercus ilex) located near the Monumental Greenhouse were with every probability already present before the founding of the Botanical Garden. In fact in the “Veduta della Serra Monumentale”, a bronze engraving dating back to the 19th century awarded to Giacinto Gigante, the examples in question appear to be already of a considerable dimension.
