Dear friends,
with the publication of the catalogue the first edition of Sicilian Slide Circuit
symbolically ends up. Looking at the results obtained both quantitatively and
qualitatively we can say that our bet has been widely won.
It was a bet because in a photographic scenario always more oriented
towards the digital supports the idea of a slide circuit could became a failure.
Actually the large number of entrants demonstrates it was not the case.
A further significant result has been the reunion of five photo-clubs which
joined the initiative with big enthusiasm. Four of them are Sicilian while one is
from Calabria. In this way we built an imaginary bridge between Sicily and the
rest of Italy. Wonderful, isn’t it? Joking apart, I think it is important to thank all the
people who supported the initiative: the international associations that gave
us the recognition, the Presidents of photo-clubs that joined the initiative, the
fifteen members of the juries who patiently and conscientiously evaluated all
the 2000 images shown and at the same time the entrants from 30 countries
of 5 continents.
Supported by this success we are ready to fling again the initiative in the
following years, keeping an eye on the evolution of the photography without
forgetting the real spring of all this: a deep love for it.

Cari Amici,
con questo catalogo chiudiamo simbolicamente la prima edizione del Sicilian Slide Circuit. Alla luce dei risultati ottenuti sia in termini quantitativi che in termini qualitativi possiamo tranquillamente affermare che la scommessa iniziale è stata ampiamente vinta.
Scommessa perché in un mondo fotografico che va sempre più in direzione dei supporti digitali poteva essere un rischio proporre un circuito per sole diapositive. Così non è stato e gli oltre 260 partecipanti testimoniano ciò. Altro risultato di sicuro rilievo è stato quello di essere riusciti a mettere insieme cinque club che
hanno sposato con entusiasmo l’iniziativa. Quattro sono siciliani e uno calabrese. Abbiamo così costruito “fotograficamente” il ponte sullo stretto di Messina. Ottimo
no? Scherzi a parte, è necessario ringraziare tutti coloro i quali hanno creduto nell’iniziativa: le federazioni patrocinanti, i presidenti dei club aderenti, i quindici giurati
che pazientemente e coscienzi
Confortati da questo successo siamo pronti a rilanciare l’iniziativa anche per i prossimi anni, tenendo conto delle evoluzione del mondo fotografico, ma non
dimenticando mai la molla iniziale: l’amore per la fotografia.
