La Scafi, Società di navigazione S.p.A. è stata fondata negli anni ’50 da Salvatore Cafiero ed è una delle società maggiormente rappresentative dello shipping
italiano, protagonista di due delle storie maggiormente significative della portualità nazionale: lo sviluppo del Porto di Gioia-Tauro nel più grande hub di
transhipment del Mediterraneo e la trasformazione del Porto di La Spezia da
porto regionale in Porto internazionale. Attualmente il gruppo opera sul territorio nazionale attraverso tre controllate Rimorchiatori Riuniti Spezzini (La
Spezia), Con.Tug (Gioia Tauro) e Carmelo Noli (Savona-Vado) che contano
oltre 20 Rimorchiatori di elevata tecnologia.
Founded in the 1950s by Salvatore Cafiero, Scafi - Società di navigazione S.p.A. is
today a leading company in Italy’s shipping industry. Scafi played a major role in two
of the greatest success stories in the history of Italian ports: the development of the
Port of Gioia Tauro, now the largest transhipment hub in the Mediterranean, and the
transformation of the Port of La Spezia from a regional to an international port.
The group currently operates in Italy via its three subsidiaries, Rimorchiatori Riuniti
Spezzini (La Spezia), Con.Tug (Gioia Tauro) and Carmelo Noli (Savona- Vado),
with over 20 state-of-the-art tugboats.

La Società trae origine nel 1955 a La Spezia, dall’unione di sei armatori che conferirono ciascuno il proprio rimorchiatore, tutti a vapore,
ottenendo nel 1956 la concessione del servizio di rimorchio. Il porto
di La Spezia, grazie alla sua posizione geografica, serve efficacemente,
attraverso i collegamenti autostradali e ferroviari, i grandi mercati del
Nord Italia e dell’Austria, Svizzera e Germania, e, attraverso le connessioni marittime i porti dell’Asia, Americhe, Africa e Medio Oriente.
Per rispondere al meglio alle richieste di un mercato sempre più esigente, l’Azienda ha rinnovato completamente la sua flotta acquistando
rimorchiatori di tipo azimutale che, con la loro potenza e maneggevolezza, offrono un servizio tempestivo, efficiente, sicuro ed affidabile e
a basso impatto ambientale. La Società nel corso degli anni ha ottenuto
le certificazioni ISO 9001, per il sistema di gestione della qualità, ISO
14001, per il sistema di gestione ambientale, e OHSAS 18001, per il sistema di gestione della salute e sicurezza sul luogo di lavoro.
The company was born in 1955 in La Spezia where six shipowners gathered together
with one steam tug each. In 1956 they obtained the towing service licence.Thanks to
its geographical position, La Spezia port supplies the big markets of North Italy,
Austria, Switzerland and Germany through motorways and railways connections and
the ports of Asia, America, Africa and the Middle East through maritime connections. In order to answer to an increasingly demanding market, the Company renewed
its fleet completely by purchasing azimuthal tugs which are extremely powerful and
manoeuvrable and they offer a timely, efficient, safe and reliable service with a low
environmental impact. In the last years the company got some certificates for its management systems, ISO 9001, for quality management system, ISO 14001, for environmental
management system, and OHSAS 18001, for health and safety management system.

Il porto di Savona sta vivendo un momento di grande sviluppo con
la realizzazione del terminal Costa crociere e della piattaforma container di Vado Ligure che entrerà in funzione nel 2011. La Carmelo
Noli gioca da sempre un ruolo fondamentale a Savona, essendo titolare
della concessione di rimorchio nel Porto di Savona e Vado Ligure sin
dai primi anni del XX secolo. La società ha iniziato ad operare con rimorchiatori di proprietà nel 1910 e nonostante la perdita di due unità
durante la seconda guerra mondiale, l’azienda ha sempre perseguito
una politica di investimento e di innovazione, che l’ha portata già negli
anni ’90 a dotarsi di rimorchiatori di tipo azimutale e ad avere oggi una
flotta di sei rimorchiatori. La Società nel corso degli anni ha ottenuto
le certificazioni ISO 9001, per il sistema di gestione della qualità, ISO
14001, per il sistema di gestione ambientale, e OHSAS 18001, per il
sistema di gestione della salute e sicurezza sul luogo di lavoro.
Savona Port is today living a period of big development with the building of Costa
Crociere terminal and the container platform of Vado Ligure which will take up office
in 2011. Carmelo Noli is playing a strategic role in this Port since the beginning of
XX Century: in 1910 the Company began its activity with its own tugs and it has been
the towing service licence in the Ports of Savona and Vado Ligure since then.The aim
of the Company is to increase efficient service by maintaining the current high standards of safety and reliability. This aim came true in 2005 by obtaining ISO 9001
and 14001 certification. Despite the loss of two tugs during the SecondWorldWar,
it has always had a policy of investment and innovation. At the beginning of 1990,
this policy helped it to buy azimuthal tugs and to have today a fleet of six tugs. In the
last years the company got some certificates for its management systems, ISO 9001, for
quality management system, ISO 14001, for environmental management system, and
OHSAS 18001, for health and safety management system.

Fondata nel gennaio 1995, Contug è la più giovane delle società del
gruppo SCAFI che ne detiene il 50 % del capitale; l’altro 50 % fa capo
alla MCT (gruppo Contship), il terminalista del porto di GioiaTauro.
Contug è l’unica joint venture in Mediterraneo tra una società di rimorchio ed un terminalista.
La Società ha dimostrato di saper coniugare in maniera eccellente il
know how SCAFI con le esigenze del gruppo Contship.
Dal 1996 Contug è concessionaria del servizio di rimorchio portuale
di Gioia Tauro ed ha progressivamente incrementato la flotta dagli
iniziali due rimorchiatori fino agli attuali quattro, tutti di avanzata tecnologia e di adeguata potenza per servire le meganavi che scalano il
porto calabrese. La Società nel corso degli anni ha ottenuto le certificazioni ISO 9001, per il sistema di gestione della qualità, ISO 14001,
per il sistema di gestione ambientale, e OHSAS 18001, per il sistema di
gestione della salute e sicurezza sul luogo di lavoro.
Founded in January 1995, Contug is the youngest company of Scafi Group and it
ownes 50% of the capital; the other 50% is owned by MCT (Contship Group) which
is the terminal operator of Gioia Tauro Port. Contug is the only joint venture in Mediterranean between a towage Company and a terminal operator and it has shown of
being able to “combine” in an excellent way SCAFI know how and Contship Group
needs. Since 1996 it has been the towing service licence in the Port of Gioia Tauro
and it has progressively increased its fleet form the first two tugs until the present four
ones. Every tug has an advanced technology and an adequate power to help the big
ships calling at the Calabrian Port. In the last years the company got some certificates
for its management systems, ISO 9001, for quality management system, ISO 14001, for
environmental management system, and OHSAS 18001, for health and safety management system.
