Our Scriptural Reflection Group meets on Monday, January 18th at
7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.
On this day of the Feast of the
Epiphany, we remember the Magi who
guided by the star shining in the
heavens, came to the house where
Jesus rested in the arms of Mary, His
Mother. They were blessed as they
brought their gifts to that holy place.
O God, by your
heavenly star, you guided those who were wise to your
beloved Son, Jesus Christ. May your blessing come to rest
on all of us. Make our lives wise with your wisdom, true to
your teaching, and enlivened by your love. May your Word
made flesh make his home among us. Amen.
To mark the Week of Prayer for
Christian Unity, the local Christian
churches will be joining for a prayer
service on Monday, January 25th at
7:30 p.m. Coffee will be served in the
Hall right after. Please bring some
sweets to share, if you can. We hope that you make every
effort to join in this important gathering!
Easter Announcement
Monthly Memorial Mass
On the Feast of the Epiphany, it is customary to announce
the Easter date for this year.
The Resurrection of Our
Lord will be celebrated on Sunday, April 4th. Other Holy
days to note are Ash Wednesday – February 17th,
Pentecost – May 23rd, and the 1st Sunday of Advent –
November 28th.
Thank you for all your donations to the
SVDP truck last weekend. As usual, the
truck was brimming full and it’s nice to
know that many people will put your things
to good use!
2010 Offering Envelopes
If you haven’t yet picked up your 2010 Offering Envelopes,
please pass by the office during the week to do so.
Holy Hour for Vocations
Since this year First Friday falls on New Year’s Day, we will
not have our usual Holy Hour, but it will resume next
month on Friday, February 5th.
Bingo & Refreshments
The 55+ group will be getting together in the Parish Hall
this Thursday, January 7th at 9:30 a.m. for a game of
Bingo. All the young at heart are invited!

PRAYER WITH THE SONGS OF TAIZÉ
Join us on Friday, January 8th and every second Friday of
the month, at 7:30 p.m., when our parish gathers in prayer
and the meditative reflection style of Taizé. We will
continue to learn more about this form of prayer, the
monastic community of Taizé, and the reason why
thousands of young people make their way every week to
meet and pray with the brothers in Taizé.
Scriptural Reflection
Ecumenical Prayer Service
Beginning Friday, January 29th at 7:30 p.m. and on every
last Friday of the month, we will be celebrating a Memorial
Mass in honour of your loved ones. If you have a friend or
a family member whose birthday, anniversary or
anniversary of death took place during the month of
January, we invite you attend this Memorial in their
honour. One member of each family will be asked to hold
a candle in memory.
UPDATE ON OUR INSURANCE COLLECTION
As you know, back in September, our Insurance bill for the
church had come in at just over $18,000. So far, we’ve
only collected about half. We estimate that it would take
about $50 per family for us to be able to cover this cost,
and so we ask that if you haven’t made your offering yet,
please consider doing all you can to help us. Envelopes
are available in your envelope box or at the entrance of the
church. Thank you.

It is time once again for the Friar’s Student Writing Award.
Students aged 14 – 18 are invited to write a five hundred
word essay on the theme for the Week of Prayer for
Christian Unity, celebrated January 24-31, 2010. The
Theme for this coming year is “you are witnesses to these
things” (Luke 24:48). First prize is an iPod touch (32GB
memory), second prize is an iPod nano (16GB memory)
and the third to sixth prizes are a one-year subscription to
The Catholic Register and other prizes. Essays will be
published in the Catholic Register. Deadline for entries is

Per la Festa dell’Epifania, la tradizione della chiesa è di annunciare
il giorno di Pasqua. La Resurezione del Nostro Signore si celebra
domenica, 4 aprile. Altre Feste sono Mercoledì delle Cenere – 17
febbraio, la Pentecoste – 23 maggio e la Prima Domenica
dell’Avvento – 28 novembre.

Dato che quest’anno, il Primo Venerdì cade di Capo d’Anno, non

Il Gruppo 55 anni e più si riunisce nella Sala Parrocchiale giovedì,
7 gennario alle 9:30 a.m. per un rinfresco e un gioco di Bingo.

Preghiera Di Taizé
Siete invitate a partecipare venerdì sera, 8 gennaio, alle ore 7:30
p.m. ad un incontro di preghiera, meditazione e canto, sullo stile

Servizio di Preghiera per l’Unità dei Cristiani
Nel occasione della Settimana di Preghiera per l’Unità dei Cristiani,
ci riuniamo nella nostra chiesa in collaborazione con le varie
chiese locale Cristiane. La celebrazione avrà luogo lunedì, 25
gennaio alle 7:30 p.m. Ci sarà caffé e rinfreschi nella sala, subito
dopo. Siamo invitate a portare qualche dolce per condividere.

Messa Mensile in Memoria
dei nostri cari defunti
Incominciando venerdì, 29 gennaio alle 7:30 p.m. e ogni ultimo
venerdì del mese allo stesso orario, celebreremo una Santa Messa
in memoria dei nostri cari defunti. Per esempio, se avete parenti
o amici che nel mese di gennaio avranno celebrato un
compleanno oppure qualche anniversario particolare, siete invitati
a partecipare a questa Messa commemorativa, e così come per i
mesi seguenti. Durante la ceremonia, un membro di ogni famiglia
porterà in mano una candela illuminata in memoria del suo caro/a
defunto/a.
AGIORNAMENTO SULLA COLLETTA PER
L’ASSICURAZIONE
Come sapete, la bolletta di $18,000 per l’assicurazione della
chiesa è arrivata un paio di mesi fà. Fin’oggi, abbiamo raccolto
una metà. Se ogni famiglia potesse contribuire $50, riuscireremo
a coprire questa spesa e se non l’avete già fatto, fate del vostro
meglio per aiutarci. Troverete le buste apposite all’entrata della
chiesa oppure nella vostra scatola per le offerte. Grazie di cuore.
