AIM:
Sound and Visual control with bi-directional audio projector for the level crossings remote-control.
DEVICE DESCRIPTION:
The system was designed in order to be easy to use by the workers and easy to be installed and maintained
by the staff in charge for these operations.
The device allows the following operations:

Real-time surveillance system for visual control of the Level-Crossing
Adjustable listening (of the sound) from LC to the DM room.
Audio/Voice alarm transmission from the DM room to LC.
Freeze-Frame Control.
The possibility to use multi-monitors to control different positions simultaneously.
Audio and Video continuous recording with automatic cancellation after a prearranged “number” of
days.
The Possibility to archive audio and video records.
The Watchdog control system.
The Power Source System must be the NO-BREAK type.
Wide range of Power Source (24/76AC-DC or 100-240VAC)
The system consists of modular components that can be configured through a LAN network.
The operation:
The activation of the system is sufficient to predispose a connection through twisted-pair telephone or
through optical fiber.
The software installed on the processor will be configured on auto-start and will provide for the connection of
the foreseen components for the operation.
The real-time image of the LV will be displayed on the monitor.
VIDEO CAMERA:
The use of the Day & Night Axis video camera with InfraRed provides an excellent image quality even in
adverse light conditions.
This type of video cameras provides high-resolution color image and, in case of poor light, converts the
shooting mode lenses of the video camera in infrared mode, allowing a good field of vision even in poor light
conditions. ( 0,005 Lux).
The type of the case is the Anti-Condensation Thermostat, thanks to the use of Peltier elements managed by
a control card.

AUDIO:
Through the loudspeaker placed on the display console, it is possible to listen the sounds/voices produced
in the area of the LC.
The sound level can be controlled through a potentiometer set on the same display console.
From the LC position, the audio is obtained through a local loudspeaker with high directivity and sent to the
audio server through a data carrier which included on the video camera AXIS.
The server included in the video camera is used to code the half-duplex stream through the full duplex mode
with the digital coding G711 µ-Law and then these can be transfered on a Lan Network.
Then, at the same time, the internal server of the video camera manages also the signal, that from the
microphonic stand - situated in the DM room - is sent to the power amplifier placed in a remote position.
If necessary, the DM can forward messagges to the area of the LC by speaking to the microphonic console.
The audio message is sent only if the console's button is pressed.
AUDIO-VIDEO RECORD
The system has the option to record continuously or just the real-time vision.
For an easier traceability of the records, these are catalogued in files lasting an hour.
Each file is ricognizable since the name of the file refers also date and time.
The records may be kept for a period defined by the user – these periods of time may last either one day or
also for several weeks.
When the Hard-Disk has a limited size capacity, the older records will be deleted automatically in order to
allow the record of new files.

The main components set up a LAN network, meaning that it is possible to control it from a remote unit.
This solution makes very simple to identify the components of the TV-PL in case of maintainance or
configuration.

SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION
The software is characterized in order to be simple, practical, and easy to configure. In order to have a
higher level of reliability of the whole system, a Processor with high features is not needed.
Ithe system is set to start automatically ( in auto start mode ), therefore, it is sufficient to power the system
to make it work in any case.
The staff does not need to make any starting operation.
OPERATION METHODS:
During the regular operation, it is not necessary to use either the mouse or the keyboard.
The software can appear with two graphical user interfaces of the video camera:
A) Real-time image in full screen in regular mode:
b) Screen during the maintenance mode on, for the configuration setup ( configuration or service phase).

When the keyboard and the mouse are on sleep mode for a period of time higher than 5 seconds, the
software arranges the set up of the operation in the standard way. (Full screen).
During the maintenance phase, it is possible to select and modify the operation parameters:





Lan address of the video camera,
starting up “Yes/No” of the records,
Definition of single or multiple location,
Folder location in the Hard Disk of the records,
in presence of a PTZ camera, the enabling of the shift Pan/Zoom/ Tilt of the video camera.
N.B. For further details, please see the handbook “How to use the Software Trainwiever”.
N.B.: The settings modifications are started up and saved only after the Password is typed.
SYSTEM VITALITY MONITORING AND WATCHDOG CONTROL
•
The video camera AXIS produces in superimposition on the shown image, the hour and the
seconds. The software catches the part of the image by taking it from the piece of the VGA
memory of the screen. This is then scanned and converted into characters. The possible
persistence of the same characters or if it is unread, the restart procedure of the software is
activated. If the software is restarted two times in a row, the processor runs a complete shutdown
with a complete restart.

The System is protected both by possible deadlocks of the operating system and by possible
hardware faults. In normal operating condition, a command of the software, ciclycally , allows to
send a character string to the serial access of the processor. Then, this is read by a watchdog
supervision card. In case of software crashes and/or of the system, considering that the control
card is not receiving the foreseen impulses, then it arranges to a forced shutdown of the syst em and
the consequent automatic restart.

In case of interruptions or malfunction of one or more components of the chain of the system, the
image on the monitor will disappear. In this case, automatically, the system runs the procedure of
reconnection of the video camera. The Train viewer software arranges the normal operation when
the fault is repaired.
RECORDS
When you choose the option “records”, then you can watch or download these records on another media by
using a USB door or Lan.
To easy the traceability of the records, these are listed in one-hour-lasting files.
Each file is easy to recognize as the filenames quote the date and time.
In the input screen it is possible to determine how long the records have been kept ( a period of time startinf
from a minimum of one day to several weeks).
When the hard drive capacity runs out of space, the older records will be automatically deleted.
MULTIPLE ACCESS AND DATA COMMUNICATION NETWORK.
The system can be cloned by more than one unit or user (DM-DCO Office):
The video camera has the ability to send the images and the audio up to 20 observatories at the same time.
The TV-PL system can be equipped with two or more observatories and service stations with supervision
which are located in local “UM” and in other DCO/Stations via an overloaded IP network.
Network's equipments in Rapid Spanning Tree
configuration.
Working also in case of damaged Lan.
In this type of system, the protocol RSTP (rapid spanning tree protocol) is used and allows the redundancy
module on the network.
All the elements of the network follow the regulations CEI EN 50159. (Railway Applications Communication, Signalling And Processing Systems - Safety Related Communication In Open Transmission
Systems).

BREAKDOWN AND MAINTENANCE
Having an integrated browser, all the equipments are reachable on Lan network.
The access of the equipments are protected by “password” and “user”.
Several maintenance and configuration tools are available in the browser, such as: the possibility to focus
the images, to make changes in video framing, to change the audio levels, to change the parameters of the
modem, to update the firmware, to use the command “ping” etc.
If one of the elements of the chain is in a situation of black out or the power source is interrupted, it will be
easier to locate the breakdown.
In the graphical user interface of the video camera it is possible to insert subtitles/tag to monitor. (e.g.: the
kilometres, the name, the location, etc.).
Except for the main power supply circuits, the wiring connecting the several components of the system
uses CAT-6 cables which is equipped with rapid RJ45 connectors.
The possible replacement of a componentis than quick and excludes any connection error.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
According the client's needs, the system can be supplied with modular contacts units, in order to assign
external controls to interface with other systems (Acei-ACC-Building, etc), Examples:

General Features of the Equipments
According to the installation's and/or the client's requirements, the system can be configured in different
ways. A typical example can be the following:
