“My Jazz Flutes” is the first release of “Michele Gori Quartet”, published by the famous Italian label
“Splasc(h) Records”.
The work includes eight original compositions by the leader in which he plays every kind of flute (from piccolo
to bass flute), in a musical trip that goes from African atmosphere to fast swing, from latin mood to lyric and
peaceful ballad.
Although he is the younger Italian jazz flutist, Michele Gori is already considered one of the most important
Italian flutist, and one of the most interesting jazz flutist around Europe: he has been recently invited by the
prestigious association “Jean Pierre Rampal” of Paris, to lead a master class of jazz flute and to play live the
project “My Jazz Flutes” in the “Convention Français of the Flute”, in which played some of the most important
flutist of the world (such as Shigenori Kudo, Maxence Larrieu, Patrick Gallois, etc.).
Well acclaimed by the critics, the project boasts the presence of a first class rhythm section composed by
experienced jazzmen such as Roberto Olzer, Roberto Mattei and Nicola Stranieri.
“... Gori means the flute as a true extension of body and soul: a big intensity that is well valorised by
the great partners of the rhythmic section…”
Roberto De Virtis, JazzIT, settembre 2008
“... My Jazz Flutes is a cool and very communicative work that I recommend
to everybody… Gori is a certitude for the jazz flute... ”
Stefano Benini, JazzItalia
“...there is the impressionism of Debussy; the eritage of Bill Evans; the clarity
of Buddy Collette; the vivacity of Herbie Mann…”
Enzo Boddi, Musica Jazz, novembre 2008
“...jazz flute lovers will be excited about the cd of the virtuous flutist
Michele Gori...”
