Although jazz has its origins in the USA, an important episode of its history is the time when
musicians like Alberto Rabagliati, Natalino Otto and many others came in contact with this music
and carried it across the ocean, to Italy for example. Impressed and inspired by these young
American jazz musicians, they developed their own melodies and lyrics, which were then sung and
interpreted by the great musicians of the era, complementing that of the American repertoire.
Today, these melodies continue to inspire, both reawakening memories and feelings in those who
witnessed their emergence and stimulating new, younger listeners and musicians. The ‘Quartetto di
Swing Italiano’ is reviving these wonderful sounds with fun, enthusiasm, joy and that same
elegance, which has always been a hallmark of this music.
