OUR MISSION
The Bocconi Students’ Alternative Investments Symposium (BSAIS) is a two-day, student organised Symposium with the aim
to bridge the world of Private Equity & Hedge Funds with Academia. BSAIS will be held on November 18th and 19th, 2013 in
Milan, Italy for the first time, on the Bocconi University Campus. Bocconi University is the leading institution located in the
heart of southern-Europe’s economic and financial capital – Milan.
BSAIS is organised by the Bocconi Students’ Alternative Investments Society and aims to foster the dialogue between
international leaders in the alternative investment industry and the brightest students interested in it. The aim of BSAIS is
educational – cutting edge speakers will present and debate their view in panel discussions and keynotes – in such students
have the opportunity to learn about the alternative asset management industry. Students can enroll in real-industry
workshops, form valuable relationships with other students and network with professionals to enhance their career prospects
in the Private Equity & Hedge Fund industry. BSAIS serves as a platform for internationalism – we encourage dedicated
undergraduate, master, MBA and PhD students from all over the world to register for a place at BSAIS.
The Bocconi Students’ Alternative Investment Society is committed to attract students who are passionate about the
management of alternative investments and are keen on developing a deep understanding of these fast-paced industries.
Our main focus is to educate our members and create a platform that enables our members to network with like-minded
students and leading-edge industry professionals so that they can realise their career ambitions. Organising the Bocconi
Students’Alternative Investment Symposium (BSAIS) is the necessary outcome of our mission and the principles we believe
in.

VINCENZO MORELLI - TPG CAPITAL / EVCA
Vincenzo Morelli is Partner Emeritus and Senior Advisor at TPG Capital, having served as Operating Partner in
the Firm’s London office from 2005 until 2012. During this period, he has served as Chairman of Mey Içki and of
Bally International SA, as well as a Director of TIM Hellas SARL and is currently Vice Chairman of Télédiffusion
de France SA (TDF) and Chairman of Republic Retail Limited. Prior to joining TPG, Mr. Morelli was a Partner at
Alvarez and Marsal, a Senior Advisor with Clayton, Dubilier and Rice, CEO of Kontron Instruments NV (a
company owned by BC Partners) Executive Vice President of FIAT Group – in charge of New Holland, and
President of GE Medical Systems-Europe and of Compagnie Générale de Radiologie (CGR). He started his
career at the Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Morelli has also been active in co-ordinating the industry’s public
affairs and is presently Chairman of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA)
having previously chaired the European Private Equity Roundtable (EPER) for three years, since its formation
in 2009. Mr. Morelli holds an MBA from Stanford University, where he was a Miller Scholar, and an MA with
Honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Corpus Christi College, University of Oxford, of which he is
a Foundation Fellow. Mr. Morelli is also a Founder Board Member of Oxfam’s Enterprise Development
Programme.

FABIO L. SATTIN - PRIVATE EQUITY PARTNERS
Fabio L. Sattin is Executive Chairman and Founding Partner of Private Equity Partners SGR S.p.A., previously
Vice President and Managing Director at Chase Investment Bank (now JP Morgan) operating in London, New
York and Milan and before at Olivetti in the corporate strategic planning. Together with the professional activity
he has always covered a role as University Professor. Graduated with honours in Business Economy at the
University Cà Foscari in Venice (winner of the “Cafoscarino of the year 2008” award by the Association of
Venice University Cà’ Foscari Graduates) where he has been professor of “Business Strategy and Policy”. He is
Senior Contract Professor of “Private Equity and Venture Capital” at Bocconi University in Milan. He is currently
vice-chairman of APE (Association for the Economic Development), member of the Innovation Board of the Cà
Foscari University Foundation and member of the Foreign Investors Committee of the Italian Industrial
Association (Confindustria). He has been Chairman of the EVCA (European Private Equity and Venture Capital
Association) and is currently member of the Past Chairman Group. Having served as expert and advisor for the
EBRD, World Bank and various European Commissions, has written a considerable number of publications

regarding Private Equity, Finance and Business Economy.

CARLO MAMMOLA - ARGAN CAPITAL As a Managing Partner, Carlo Mammola is co-responsible for driving the strategic and operational direction of
Argan and is a member of Argan’s Investment Committee. Carlo Mammola leads Argan’s investment activity in
the Italian market and heads Argan’s Milan office. Mr. Mammola has over 20 years of private equity experience
and joined the Argan team in 2000. Since then he has, inter alia successfully led and realised the investments
in Alfatherm and N&W Global Vending and led the investment in Faster. He serves on the boards of Faster and
GCE. He is also a member of the European Mid-Market Buy-out Platform Council and a member of the Board
of Directors of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA). Before joining the Argan
team, Mr. Mammola worked at Paribas Affaires Industrielles (PAI) where he was the Managing Director
responsible for Italy, prior to which he worked with Sopaf, the Italian merchant bank, and the Olivetti Group.
Since 1987, Mr. Mammola has been a Professor of Management at the Bocconi University in Milan and, since
1999, a member of its Advisory Committee. Mr. Mammola holds an MBA from the Bocconi University in Milan
and graduated in engineering at the Polytechnic of Turin. Mr. Mammola speaks fluent Italian, English and
French.

STEFANO CASELLI - BOCCONI UNIVERSITY Stefano Caselli is Vice Rector for International Affiars and Full Professor of Banking and Finance at Department
of Finance of Bocconi University in Milan, whereas is the Academic Director of MSc in Finance and the
Academic Director for Bocconi University of CEMS-MIM. He is the Head of the start-up project of MISB Bocconi
Mumbai International School of Business, the Indian branch of Bocconi University whereas is the Director of the
PGPB, Post Graduate Program in Business. He’s member of the board of Directors of SDA Bocconi School of
Management, whereas he has been the Director of Executive Education Custom Program for Banks and
Financial Institutions from 2006 to 2012. He has been awarded with the Bocconi Teaching Award in 2005, 2006,
2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and with Bocconi Research Award in 1997, 2004 and 2011. He is conducting research
at domestic and international level developing several publications on private equity, SME’s and family business
financing, corporate finance, corporate banking and banking strategy. He’s member of the scientific committee
of: CER, ECMI, EVCA, ENTER and CAREFIN. He is serving as independent director in several boards of
corporations and financial institutions. Moreover he has been supporting many companies and institutions as
strategic consultant (among them, Borsa Italiana for Elite Project, ABI Associazione Bancaria Italiana, OCSE,
Consob for the working group devoted to incentives for stock exchange).

GIOVANNI TINUPER - PwC
Giovanni Tinuper is a partner of the Transaction Services department of PwC in Milan and is primarily
dedicated to private equity houses; he heads the Deals retail and consumer practice in Italy. From 1995 to 1996
Giovanni worked as equity analyst in London and joined PwC’s Transaction Services in Milan in late 1996.
Before moving to PwC’s TS in Paris in 2003, Giovanni worked for two years as investment manager for a
private equity fund. After more than two years in Paris, Giovanni moved back to Milan in summer 2005.
Giovanni graduated in Business Administration from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano (1994) and
is chartered auditor in Italy (Revisore Contabile). He speaks Italian (native) and is fluent in English and French.

ENRICO RICOTTA - MANDARIN CAPITAL PARTNERS One of the founding partners of Mandarin Capital Partners, Enrico Ricotta has 30 years of previous experience
in corporate finance, consultancy and private equity. As a Partner of DrKB Fund Italia, he performed 9
investments and served as board member in 11 companies. He was previously General Manager for IMI-ABN
Amro (a private equity J.V. between ABN Amro and the Italian bank IMI), where he invested, managed and
exited 6 portfolio companies. Prior to this, he was partner of S&A (M&A boutique), CEO of Start-Montedison,
Project Manager at Montedison and Marketing Manager of Merloni. Enrico Ricotta is a cum laude graduate of
the University of Rome in Economics, holds an ISTAO MBA and is author of some publications in the Industrial
Policies field. He speaks Italian, English and French.

DÖRTE HÖPPNER - EVCA
Ms. Dörte Höppner is a Managing Director at Bundesverband deutscher Kapitalbeteiligungsgesellschaften e.V.
Ms. Höppner serves as Secretary of The European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association. She
became Secretary General at EVCA in early 2011. She has been involved in EVCA’s 12 person public affairs
executive since its inception and was an active member of the executive committee of public affairs of EVCA.
She is also a Member of the advisory board to the German Federal Minister of Education and Research, where
she holds responsibility for the “financing of innovation“. Before joining the BVK, Ms. Höppner served as Head
of Communications at influential think tank the German Institute of Economic Research.

FRANCESCO LOREDAN - BC PARTNERS
Francesco Loredan is a Managing Partner and Co-Chairman at BC Partners. Francesco joined BC Partners as
a senior partner when he opened the Milan office in 1989 which he co-led for 14 years. He opened the BC
Partners Geneva office in 2003. During his 23 years at BC Partners, Francesco has led or had significant
involvement with many of the Firm’s successful investments and as a member of the Investment Committee,
which he chaired for three years, he is actively involved in all investment decisions made by the Firm. Prior to
joining BC Partners, Francesco worked for the Boston Consulting Group in Paris, where he was a manager
working on assignments in France and Italy. Previously he spent three years in corporate finance with the Bank
of America-BAI in Milan as a credit officer. Francesco has an MBA from INSEAD and a bachelor of science
degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He speaks Italian, French,
English and Spanish.

GIORGIO FANTACCHIOTTI - BONELLI EREDE PAPPALARDO
Giorgio Fantacchiotti is a corporate partner at Bonelli Erede Pappalardo and the head of its Private Equity
Practice Group. Giorgio has been a partner of the firm since January 2004 and he plays an active role in many
aspects concerning the running of the firm. Giorgio has actively participated to many of the most important
corporate finance transactions in which the law firm has been involved, specializing in local and cross border
M&A, with particular reference to acquisitions and dispositions of shares and assets, leveraged buy-outs,
private equity transactions, joint ventures, tender offers, etc., and has gained considerable experience in
handling increasingly complex deals and in leading the relative negotiations. He regularly advises Italian and
international private equity funds in their M&A activity.Giorgio is qualified in Italy and in the UK as a Solicitor of
the Supreme Court of England and Wales; he is currently a member of the London Law Society. Giorgio has
been ranked in “Band 2” for Private Equity by Chambers Europe, 2013, and has been listed as a “Leading/
Recommended Lawyer” for Corporate/M&A by The Legal 500, 2013.

JEFF TWENTYMAN - SLAUGHTER AND MAY
Jeff Twentyman is a partner at Slaughter and May as well as the Head of the Private Equity Group. Jeff
undertakes a broad range of corporate and commercial work for both corporate and private equity clients,
advising on acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, mergers and public takeovers, flotation’s and equity
capital markets and private equity investment. He has recently advised Chesapeake and its private equity
owners, Oaktree Capital and Irving Place Capital on the disposal of paperboard packaging business to the
Carlyle Group, Terra Firma on the sale of and refinancing of Phoenix Natural Gas, Oaktree Capital and Apollo
Management on the sale of Countrywide plc, Stock Spirits Group on their initial public offering and more
recently Corsair Capital and Centerbridge Partners on their pre-IPO deal with The Royal Bank of Scotland
Group plc. He is listed as a leading individual for ‘Corporate/M&A; High-end Capability’ and for ‘private Equity:
Buyouts’ in Chambers UK, 2013; for ‘Corporate/M&A: High End Capability’ in Chambers Europe 2013; and for
Corporate/M&A in Chambers Global, 2013. He is also listed for ‘Private Equity: transactions’ in The Legal 500,
2012. He is named as one of the Top 100 lawyers in the UK by Chambers. Jeff has previously worked in both
retail banking and investment banking.

OLIVIER ASSANT - BREDIN PRAT
Olivier Assant is a partner at Bredin Prat, specializing in transactional work with a focus on cross-border public
and private M&A and private equity transactions. He regularly advises French and international funds. In
particular, he has recently advised Tiger Global Management on the disposal of AlloCiné, TowerBrook Capital
Partners in connection with its takeover of Metallum, French public fund FSI on its investment in Supersonic
Imagine and Sagard on the acquisition of Eurodough from Sara Lee. He has also recently advised Eurazeo,
Apollo, Goldman Sachs and Axa Private Equity (now called Ardian). Olivier Assant is a member of French Stock
Exchange Regulator (AMF) Listed Issuers Consultative Commission. He holds a business degree from the
Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC, 1992) and a Master law degree from
the University of Paris-Assas (in business law and tax, 1993). He was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1995 and
became a partner of the firm in 2001. His native language is French and he is fluent in English.Olivier Assant
has been listed as a ‘Leading’/‘Recommended Lawyer’ for both Private Equity and M&A by Chambers Europe,
2013 and The Legal 500, 2013.

STEFFEN OPPENLÄNDER - HENGELER MUELLER
Steffen Oppenlaender is a partner at Hengeler Mueller. He is specialized in transactional work with a focus on
M&A and private equity transactions. Steffen has advised numerous German and international corporates,
family businesses and private equity investors on M&A transactions and joint ventures. His most recent private
equity assignments include the acquisition of ista by CVC and the sale of KabelBW by EQT. Steffen has
advised further leading PE funds such as Blackstone, KKR and Bain Capital. He studied law in Munich and
holds a PhD in law. Steffen joined Hengeler Mueller in 2003 and became partner in 2008.

ENRICO CECCATO - ORLANDO MANAGEMENT ITALY
Enrico Ceccato is a private equity investment professional with direct experience of executive management in
industry with focus on turnarounds. For the last 15 years he worked as CEO/General Manager on a number of
substantial and complex acquisitions and transformation programmes, including Sector Group (Watches),
Direct.it (E Commerce), Autogrill/HMS (Food Catering),Fila Italia (Sportswear) and Killer Loop (Sunglasses and
Sport Equipment). He received a degree in political science and economics from the University of Padua and a
masters degree in hospitality services from Cornell University.

RAFFAELE LEGNANI - ATLANTIS CAPITAL SPECIAL SITUATIONS
Raffaele is Managing Partner and founder of Atlantis Capital Special Situations, the first independent
institutional investor focused on investments in Italian companies in “Special Situations”. Raffaele has invested
for more than 17 years in Special Situations both directly and through specialized private equity funds (in
particular the London based Stellican and the US vulture fund Wexford Management). Among the deals he
closed it’s worth mentioning: Cantieri Riva, Vicenza Calcio and Desa/MCS, awarded with the “Demattè
Turnaround of The Year” prize in 2012. Previously he worked in the Investment Banking Department of
Goldman Sachs in London. Raffaele holds a degree (with honors) in Business Administration from the Luigi
Bocconi University in Milan.

ANDREA BONOMI - INVESTINDUSTRIAL Mr. Andrea C. Bonomi is the Founder, President, Head, Senior Principal, and Chairman of Investindustrial
Holdings Limited. Mr. Bonomi founded the firm in 1990. He serves as the Chairman of Management Board of
Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl. Previously, Mr. Bonomi was responsible for the monitoring of the Saffa
Industrial Group investments in Europe and the United States, which included acquisitions, divestments,
disposals, and fund raising. Prior to that, he served at Kleinwort Benson, where he was responsible for Spain
and Italy, and at Lazard Frères & Co. He serves as a Director of a number of companies including 21
Investimenti S.p.A. and 21 Centrale Partners. He also serves as Member of Management Board of Banca
Popolare di Milano Scarl. Mr. Bonomi served as a Director of Ing. Castaldi SpA. He served as a Non-Executive
Director of Inversiones Ibersuizas and Permasteelisa SPA. Mr. Bonomi taught Economics at the University of
Pavia. Mr. Bonomi has a B.Sc. in Business Administration from New York University in 1985.

GIAMPIERO MAZZA - CVC CAPITAL PARTNERS
Managing Director, joined in March 2010 from BC Partners where he was a Partner focusing on the Spanish
market. Prior to BC Partners, Giampiero worked at MidOcean Partners (fka DB Capital Partners) focusing on
Southern Europe. Prior to his career in Private Equity, he worked as an M&A adviser for J.D. Wolfensohn in
New York and as a Management Consultant for Bain & Co. in Dallas, Texas. Giampiero holds a BA Degree
from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

ROBERTO ITALIA - CINVEN Mr. Roberto Italia is a Partner at Cinven Limited. He heads the firm’s operations in Italy. Mr. Italia joined the firm
on March 11, 2005 and focuses on investments in industrial sectors in United Kingdom and Italy. Previously, he
worked at Henderson Private Capital in Italy, where he was the local Partner in charge of the firm’s business in
Italy and Spain. While at the firm, Mr. Italia led the purchase of Redecam. Previously, he was employed at
Warburg Pincus for eight years latterly as a Partner and Managing Director, focusing on the communications
industry as well as Italy and Spain. Prior to joining Warburg in 1994, Mr. Italia also served at the Telecom Italia
Group. He is a Director of Associazione Italiana degli Investitori Istituzionale Capitale di Rischio. He has also
served as a Director at Grapes Communications and Pharm@Idea. Mr. Italia was also a Member of the
Supervisory Board of Netia Holdings S.A. Mr. Italia received an M.A. and M.Sc in Economics from LUISS in
Rome, Italy and an M.B.A. from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

GIANCARLO ALIBERTI - APAX PARTNERS
Mr. Giancarlo Rodolfo Aliberti is a Managing Director and Partner, Tech & Telecom and Financial & Business
Services Sectors – Italy at Apax Partners. He joined the firm in 2000. Mr. Aliberti leads the firm’s activities in
Italy, Turkey and Greece. He specializes in investments in the telecommunications and technology. Previously,
Mr. Aliberti spent 11 years at Monitor Company, where he was a Senior Vice President of Monitor Company
Europe, Eurasia, and South Africa and a Manager of the Milan office. Mr. Aliberti has advised European, Asian,
and North American clients on numerous strategic issues in a wide variety of industries and has worked at
Telecom Italia and Telecom Italia Mobile, IBM, Ferragamo, and BASF. Prior to Monitor, he worked at
Montedison for two years in a staff position to the Chief Executive Officer. Currently, Mr. Aliberti is a Director of
Tim Hellas Telecommunications S.A., Sisal SpA, Farmafactoring S.p.A., Associazione Italiana degli Investitori
Istituzionale Capitale di Rischio, Kelyan S.R.L., HAL Knowledge Solutions, and Azimut. He has a degree,
Summa Cum Laude, in Economics from the University of Rome, Italy and an MBA from Harvard Business
School.

STEFANIA PEVERARO - MILANO FINANZA
Stefania Peveraro is a senior editor at MF-Milano finanza, a well known financial newspaper in Italy owned by
Class Editori media group listed on the Italian Stock Exchange. For the newspaper Stefania writes about
private equity, M&A, structured finance and fixed income issues as well as about credit markets issues. She is
responsible of a monthly insert about private equity, is in charge of a weekly insert about shipping & logistics
and is co-head of the weekly retail investment section dealing with mutual funds, hedge funds, asset
managament, real estate and market trading. She also works for Class/Cnbc TV, a joint venture satellite TV
channel by Class Editori and Cnbc Europe, where she anchored weekly talk shows about private equity, bonds
and derivatives. Before joining MF-Miano Finanza in 2000, Stefania worked as a journalist for Borsa e Finanza
