Titolo: The Prelude di William Wordsworth: temi e strutture letterarie
Il modulo introduce alle tematiche principali del poema autobiografico The Prelude (1805): l’infanzia e
la memoria, la città moderna e la solitudine pastorale, la rivoluzione e la poesia. L’opera di Wordsworth
verrà altresì discussa come “ibrido generico” che incorpora generi e modi tradizionali (la pastorale, il
romance, le convenzioni dell’epica o della satira), “rivedendoli” sia alla luce dell’esigenze espressive
dell’autore sia in quanto modalità di percezione e di approccio al reale.
This module explores the main themes in Wordsworth’s autobiographical poem, The Prelude (1805),
childhood and memory, London and the country, the French revolution and revolutionary poetry. It also
discusses The Prelude as a “mixed” poem which both incorporates and revises traditional genres and
modes (the pastoral and romance, the conventions of epic or satire), by associating them to specific
forms of perception and stages of maturation.
