Una collezione di lampade dedicata alla nostra storia personale o collettiva,
di vita quotidiana e di lavoro, fatta di attimi illuminati, catturati e fermati
nella forma e nell’uso degli apparecchi stessi.
Progetti e soluzioni dal segno asciutto ma non anonimo, essenziale ma mai banale,
discreto ma non ovvio. Anzi, progetti ricercati ed espressamente originali che rendono
evidente il loro contenuto senza mostrarsi eccessivamente:
la modestia figlia della consapevolezza delle proprie qualità.
Una collezione di apparecchi realizzata attraverso lavorazioni sperimentali e tecnologie
sofisticate, rivolta a coloro che sono sensibili verso un prodotto di qualità, proiettata verso
settori con diverse necessità ambientali, costruita sul sodalizio tra imprenditore e progettisti,
ma sempre sperimentando e praticando il buon design.
Reasoning about light.
A collection of lamps that is dedicated to our own personal and collective history, to everyday
life and to work, made up of moments of illumination frozen and captured in the very shape
of the lamps themselves and in their use. The design is dry but never anonymous,
fundamental but not banal, discreetly planned without descending into the obvious. On the
contrary, the refined and deliberately original planning pushes the implied content to the fore
without revealing its own mechanisms too much: its modesty is born of a heightened self
awareness. This is a collection of lamps manufactured using experimental and sophisticated
technologies, the result of market experts coming together with design engineers to try out
and put into practice – a design excellence that aims to capture the imagination of people
who are looking for quality products to light a variety of different environments.

Überlegungen zum Licht.
Eine Lampenkollektion über unsere Geschichte als Individuum oder Gruppe, über unseren
privaten und beruflichen Alltag aus Lichtblicken, die in der Gestalt und im Gebrauch der
Lampen gefangen und festgehalten werden. Die Projekte und Lösungen sind kühl, jedoch
nicht anonym, nüchtern, jedoch nie banal, schlicht, jedoch nicht selbstverständlich. Ganz im
Gegenteil: anspruchsvolle und ausdrücklich originelle Projekte zeigen deutlich ihren Inhalt,
ohne stark in den Vordergrund zu treten. Bescheidenheit als Folge des Bewusstseins über die
eigenen Eigenschaften. Eine Lampenkollektion durch Versuchsverarbeitungen und
ausgeklügelte Technologien, die Kunden anspricht, welche Sinn für Qualität haben.

…Non credo, ripeto non credo, alle ideologie, ma per quanto riguarda l’amore verso la sapienza è
pieno e riconoscente. Posso solo sommessamente spiegare che quando lavoro mi interrogo e cerco,
chiamando forte, che la cosa che cerco con tanto affanno venga da me spontaneamente. Se questo
succede, non sempre purtroppo, allora comincia una specie di tira molla su ciò che bisogna e ciò che
mi piacerebbe. Tra le molte possibilità che a ogni incrocio mi si presentano posso scegliere la
direzione, non saprò mai se era quella giusta. Ma so con certezza che alla fine, l’oggetto che nasce è
leggero, senza presunzioni senza retorica, pieno solo di amore e riconoscenza per chi delle mie fatiche
trova un moto di simpatia. La mia felicità sarebbe raggiunta nel momento in cui trovassi conferma
che dalla mia fatica un altro simile a me volesse condividere questa felicità.

…I don’t believe—I seriously don’t believe in ideologies; but as for love of wisdom, it is full and
rewarding. I can only modestly say that when I work I contemplate, seek out, and call out loud for
that which I am looking for, until finally it spontaneously comes to me. When this happens—and
unfortunately it doesn’t always happen—begins a contest between what ‘should be’ and what I would
‘prefer to be.’ At every moment I am faced with many paths and possibilities, and although I can
chose in which direction to go, I will never know if it was the right one to take. I do, however, know
that in the end the final object will be light, without presumptions or rhetoric, simply filled with love
and gratitude in the eyes of those who look at my labour with sympathy. My happiness would then be
complete if only my toil could encourage someone else to share such joy.

.. Ich glaube nicht – ich wiederhole: Ich glaube nicht – an Ideologien. Zur Weisheit habe ich jedoch
eine volle und dankbare Liebe. Ich kann bloß leise erklären, dass ich bei der Arbeit mich immer
selbst befrage und versuche, dass das, was ich so mühsam suche, spontan zu mir kommt und rufe
laut danach. Und wenn das nun passiert, was jedoch leider nicht immer der Fall ist, fängt das Hin
und Her an über das, was man tun sollte und über das, was ich gern hätte. Unter den vielen
Möglichkeiten, die ich an einer Kreuzung habe, kann ich die Richtung wählen und werde nie
erfahren, ob es wohl die richtige war. Ich weiß jedoch mit Sicherheit, dass am Ende das Objekt, das
daraus entsteht, leicht ist, frei von Überheblichkeit, frei von Rethorik, bloß voller Lieber und
Anerkennung für diejenigen, die meiner Mühe mit Sympathie begegnen. Mein Glück würde in dem
Moment entstehen, in dem ich die Bestätigung hätte, dass aus meiner Mühe heraus jemand, der mir
ähnlich ist, dieses Glück mit mir teilen möchte.

Aggregare intorno a una mini lampada fluorescente a luce calda tutti gli elementi
che sono necessari alle prestazioni di volta in volta richieste all’apparecchio.
Ogni componente, realizzato con le tecnologie più consone dichiara la propria funzione.
L’estruso realizza lo schermo-riflettore e contiene la lampada che a sua volta è supportata
dai terminali stampati in polimero elastico. I diversi steli in tondino di acciaio configurano
l’utilizzo della lampada da tavolo e da parete nelle varie proposte.
I cablaggi, gli snodi, le giunzioni sono dichiaratamente lasciati a vista.
Non volendo partire da un riferimento tipologico riconoscibile si è arrivati ad un “assemblaggio“
con una propria configurazione logica, essenziale, leggera.

Every element that might ever be required of a lighting unit has been gathered together into the warm
light of a mini fluorescent lamp. Every component is a perfect expression of its own function, realised
using the most appropriate technologies. The outer part forms a reflector-screen, and contains the
lamp, which is in turn supported by the moulded elastic polymer terminals. The various models are
differentiated by their rounded steel stems that make them into table lamps or wall lamps. The joints,
connections and wiring are left boldly and openly in view. The avoidance of any recognizable
categorization as a particular kind of lamp has led to a “hotch-potch” that turns out to present a
light-hearted and fundamental logical coherence all of its own.
Alle Bauteile, die von jeder einzelnen Lampenleistung gefordert werden, sind in dieser
Leuchtstofflampe mit Warmlicht vereinigt. Jedes Bauteil wurde mit Techniken hergestellt, die optimal
zur Erfüllung der eigenen Aufgabe ausgelegt sind. Das Pressteil ergibt die Abschirmung und fasst die
Lampe, die ihrerseits von den Kappen aus elastischem Polymer gehalten wird. Die verschiedenen
Ständer aus Rundstahl ermöglichen die unterschiedlichen Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten für die
Verwendung der Lampe als Tisch- oder Wandlampe. Verdrahtung, Gelenk- und Verbindungspunkte
werden mit Absicht nicht versteckt. Die Absicht war, nicht von einem erkennbaren Referenzpunkt
auszugehen. Das Ziel ist der “Zusammenbau“ nach einer eigenen nüchternen und dezenten Logik.

Eden represents the theme of the ambient light using contemporary shapes, technologies and
materials with strong visual and dimensional effects. The stylized and light frame combines with the
components of the diffuser which presents amazing shades of colour both when it is on or off.
Eden interpretiert mit zeitgenössischen Formen, Technologien und Materialien das Thema der
räumlichen Lichtgestaltung mit großer optischer und dimensionaler Wirkung. Die Geometrie der
Struktur, stilisiert und leicht, spricht mit der Gesamtheit der Plättchen, aus denen der Lichtschirm
besteht, der sowohl aus- als auch eingeschaltet überraschende Farbtöne und -nuancen aufweist.

La famiglia di lampade Alva con l’utilizzo della ceramica bone china ha rinnovato l’uso
di questo materiale nella realizzazione di apparecchi d’illuminazione. Il fascino che emana questa
antica materia prima, il ricordo di antichi usi, la sua riconosciuta malleabilità nell’esperimentare
diverse forme, la certezza che dà di durare nel tempo, la diafana e calda trasparenza
nel filtrare la luce, sono qualità che danno nobiltà a queste lampade.
L’uso combinato dell’acciaio inossidabile rafforza invece il concetto di modernità di questi oggetti
dandoci la tranquillità di poter possedere qualche cosa di sicuro e duraturo valore.

With the introduction of the bone china, the “Alva” series of lamps has renewed the use of this material for lighting.
The attraction of this ancient raw material, the memory of its past uses, its well-known flexibility allowing to try out new
shapes, its long-lasting character, its diaphanous and warm transparency as it filters the light, all these qualities render these
lamps noble objects. The combined use of stainless steel strengthen the concept of modern and gives us the certainty tha we
possess a valuable and long-lasting object.
Die Lampenfamilie Alva hat durch den Einsatz des Knochenporzellans dieses Material für die Herstellung von
Beleuchtungsgeräten neu entdeckt. Der besondere Reiz dieses Materials, die Erinnerung an alte Bräuche, die anerkannte
Formbarkeit beim Testen neuer Formen, die Gewissheit, etwas zu haben, das eine lange Lebensdauer hat, die warme
Transparenz, die das Licht durchscheinen lässt: Diese Merkmale lassen die Lampen edel erscheinen. Die Kombination mit

Quando ho affrontato lo studio di “Madame D“ mi sono chiesto cosa vuol dire oggi
ridisegnare un oggetto di uso quotidiano come una lampada con paralume tanto banalizzata
nelle sue molteplici produzioni. “Madame D“ rappresenta un ridisegno che soddisfa
le esigenze moderne e risponde alle sensibilità contemporanee,
capace di suggerire rinnovate emozioni utili a creare nuove configurazioni degli spazi
del nostro habitat. “Madame D“ non disdegna il ritorno alla memoria del passato riproponendosi
con nuove configurazioni utili per riaffermare nuove priorità e differenti usi.

“What,” I wondered as I first took on the ‘Madame D’ research, “can it mean today to redesign such a
banal everyday object as mass-production has made of the lamp with its lampshade?”
The ‘Madame D’ redesign of the lamp measures up to the needs and tastes of the modern world in
such a way as to bring out the renewed emotions we need to find in order to reconfigure the spaces
that form our habitat. ‘Madame D’ is not above looking back in order to reinvent the past in new more
practical forms that assert new habits and a fresh set of priorities.
Als ich mich mit dem Entwurf von “Madame D” auseinandersetzte fragte ich mich, was es heute wohl
bedeutet, einen alltäglichen Gebrauchsgegenstand wie eine Lampe mit Lampenschirm neu zu
zeichnen, die ja schon unzählige Male vielfältig produziert worden ist. “ Madame D “ stellt eine

La sezione esagonale di queste lampade permette di configurare tre diversi modelli a sospensione
ai quali si affianca quello da terra, una ‘colonna’ architettonica di luce. La superficie delle lampade
è stata pensata anche per attaccare, liberamente, i portafotografie magnetici Mic,
quasi fossero una personale raccolta di ricordi.

The hexagonal cross-section of these lamps allows for three different hanging models as well as one
that is floor-standing- an architectural ‘column’ of light. Mic magnetic photo holders can also be
freely attached to the specially designed surface of the lamps to make your own illuminated album.

Dieser Sechskantquerschnitt macht die Gestaltung von drei verschiedenen Hängelampen und einer
Stehlampe, einer Architektur-Licht-„Säule“, möglich. Die Oberfläche der Lampen ist auch dafür
ausgelegt, Mic-Magnetrahmen anzubringen, als ob es sich um die Sammlung persönlicher
Erinnerungen handeln würde.
