Introduction
Italyworkshop, a semi-annual event organized by Drake Busath, toured Tuscany and the lakes of Como and Orta
in September 2006. I had the good fortune to visit these magnificent places with wonderful people who are also
great photographers. They came from various parts of the United States, and through my experiences with them I
rediscovered Italy. Seeing the beauty of Italy through the eyes of foreigners helped me to rediscover its values and
traditions and what made Italy and Italians great. I was lucky to be part of this workshop and to experience the others’
enthusiasm and delight in Italy’s history, art and land; beauty in which we are immersed every day and all too often
forget to see.
We must be careful not to compromise the culture, values and traditions of Italy in the name of pseudo
multiculturalism.
This book is intended to ensure that we do not forget who we are.
